US President Donald Trump is set to visit Britain in his second state visit to the country.

Along with First Lady Melania Trump, he is expected to depart from a military base near Washington on Tuesday morning.

King Charles and Queen Camilla will welcome the president and first lady at Windsor Castle near London on Wednesday. The royal couple will also host a banquet for the state guests.

On Thursday, Trump is scheduled to meet British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at the official country house of the serving prime minister called Chequers near London.

The two leaders are expected to discuss possible pressure on Russia over its invasion of Ukraine. Trump wants G7 nations and NATO member states to take concerted action on raising tariffs on India and China over their imports of Russian crude oil.

The US and Britain are expected to sign a partnership to cooperate in the development of advanced technologies, such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors and quantum computing.

A senior US official said the visit “is set to highlight and renew the special relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom.”
