OSAKA — General attendance at the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai reached a daily record 218,130 people Sept. 13, the organizer announced Sept. 15.

Over the three-day period from Sept. 12 — the Friday before the long weekend — to Sept. 14, daily attendance exceeded 200,000. With just one month remaining until the Expo’s closing, there has been a surge in last-minute visitors.

According to the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition, general attendance on Sept. 12 was 208,163, and the preliminary figure for Sept. 14 was 207,000. The previous highest attendance was on Sept. 6, with 209,837 visitors.

Guests are required to reserve their visit date and time in advance, and slots for the remaining weekends, holidays and weekday mornings are nearly fully booked.

At a Sept. 15 press conference, the association’s Deputy Secretary General Jun Takashina stated, “A significant expansion of existing slots is difficult. There are still some openings for afternoons and evenings in October, so we encourage people to reserve early.”

The association also announced that the closing ceremony will be held inside the Expo venue on the final day, Oct. 13, at 2 p.m.
