It is so fast!! Welcome to our channel! Today, we’re taking a journey around the Mt. Fuji area by Shinkansen. From sacred shrines to mountaintop views, and even that famous rock-hard ice cream. This trip is packed with everything we love about Japan. Let’s enjoy it together! Our journey begins at Tokyo Station. The station is always busy, but picking out an ekiben is part of the fun. It’s hard to choose — they all look amazing! Then, when the Shinkansen arrives, what really stands out is the cleaning crew. In just a few minutes, they make the entire train spotless — it’s truly impressive. They’re quiet, precise, and incredibly efficient. Moments like this really show what Japan is all about. Now it’s time to board the Shin kansen. Apparently, the train departs so quietly that some people don’t even notice it has left. The seats are spacious and comfortable. It‘s ekiben time!, a train staion boxed lunch. This time, we chose a beef bento. The beef was incredibly tender and juicy! Kana: Do you like it? Nobu: It is so good!! Eating an ekiben while watching the scenery go by — it doesn’t get better than that. The train glides out smoothly — and just like that, our adventure begins. It was cloudy on that day, so we could not see Mt. Fuji from the window. Japanese people love Mt. Fuji, so we’ll show you some photos of Mt. Fuji taken on different days. No matter how many times we see it, it still gives us a thrill. By the way, there are some great Mt. Fuji viewpoints in Hakone too. From Lake Ashi, you can get a beautiful view of Mt. Fuji on a clear day. We actually posted a video from our trip to Hakone before.（popped up on the screen) From the second torii gate, you can get a beautiful view of Mt. Fuji on a clear day. It was cloudy when we visited, but on a sunny day, this is what the view looks like. Before climbing Mt. Fuji, it’s tradition to visit Fujisan Hongū Sengen Taisha. This shrine honors Mt. Fuji as a sacred deity . The peaceful grounds and fresh mountain air give it a deeply spiritual feeling. It’s a moment to pray for safety and center yourself before the climb. We received a goshuin,. We bought a kongozue stick at Sengen Taisha Shrine. Now, it’s time to climb Mt. Fuji The kogozue is used as a walking stick during the Mt. Fuji climb. Actually, we climbed Mt. Fuji as a family eight years ago. This video was filmed during that trip. We reached the top of Mt. Fuji This is the goshuin from the summit of Mt. Fuji. We’re starting from the nearest station, Shimoyoshida. From here, we’ll walk to Arakurayama Sengen Park. This is Arakurayama Sengen Park — famous for its iconic view of Mt. Fuji with the pagoda. We have received a goshuin here To get there, you have to climb long steps. It’s a bit tough, but the view at the top is the very image of Japan. Nearly 90% of the tourists were foreigners. Here’s a view of Mt. Fuji from Arakurayama Sengen Park during the spring season. Oshino Hakkai is a group of spring-fed ponds from Mt. Fuji’s snowmelt. Nakaike Pond is especially clear — like looking into another world. But if you look closely… there’s a smartphone on the bottom! Seeing that made me nervous — I put a strap on my phone, just in case 😅 That’s how mesmerizing it is — you can’t help but lean in. With traditional houses and peaceful fields around, it feels like a Japanese folk tale. This is fresh spring water from Mt. Fuji. You can drink it — just scoop it up with your hands! The water is so clear, you can see the fish swimming perfectly. This observation deck opens at 9 a.m.
There’s an entrance fee, but it’s definitely worth it. We‘re at the observation deck now — and wow, what an amazing view! The fish came swimming over, looking for food. There were fish food packets for sale right at the entrance. Satsuma-age with shrimp and clams was absolutely delicious. We were looking forward to eating dango here, but the shop wasn’t open.
Too bad 😢 We also enjoyed some local treats — kusa mochi and mitarashi dango. The soft sweetness and roasted flavor really hit the spot. Kana: Very soft! It is so delicious. It was the perfect moment to relax and enjoy the flavors of the region. This shrine is called Sengen Jinja. Since it’s located just near Oshino Hakkai, we stopped by to pay our respects. We received a goshuin and we are surprised to learn it uses three separate pages! At the Mt. Fuji World Heritage Center, you can learn about Fuji’s nature and culture. The building itself is shaped like Mt. Fuji, impressive inside and out. The videos and exhibits are easy to follow and informative. From this observation deck, you’d normally see Mt. Fuji on a clear day… but it’s cloudy today. This is what Mt. Fuji looks like from the observation deck on a clear day. To wrap things up, we’re riding the Shinkansen Green Car in style. Your seat has a reading lamp, and in winter there’s also a switch to warm the seat. The seats are spacious。 In the Green Car, you can even order drinks and ice cream right from your smartphone. They have a wide variety — from ice cream to coffee — super convenient! And of course… the famous “rock-hard” Shinkansen ice cream! So hard!!!! It’s so frozen, your spoon won’t even go in at first. Waiting for it to soften is part of the fun. Mobile ordering is not available in regular vehicles, so please use vending machines. A relaxing and satisfying end to the journey. So, let’s review the map. The Mount Fuji area is about a two-hour train ride from Tokyo. You can get to Sengen Taisha Shrine, Oshino Hakkai, and Arakurayama Sengen Park by public transportation.
