Best Places in Otaru – Japan
Let me tell you about the best spots you can visit in Otaroo. Today we will explore the best bakeries, markets, attractions, and food spots the city has to offer. You can reach Utaroo from Sapuru in 34 minutes with the rapid airport train. The first recommendation is located directly at the train station. I’m talking about the delicious smelling San Ju Bakery. I bought myself a round buttery console and a curry bun. If you feel more like lunch, you just have to leave the main station and turn left to find the Saku fish market. Inside you will discover stalls filled with Hokkaido’s treasures. Snow crab, sea urchin, and salmon roll. It is always fun to walk through Japanese fish market and even better if you enjoy a tasty kaiento. One of the most known place in Ultru is Canal. You can have a walk here or take a short boat tour. It’s a 30inut walk through the city from UT station to the canal. Once it was a busy trade route, it’s now one of the city’s most iconic and photogenic spots, especially at sunset. The stone warehouses along the water have been transformed into shops, cafes, and restaurants. The next spot is a place I underestimated. The Otto Music Box Museum is a place you can have a lot of fun in. Step inside and you’re immediately surrounded by the soft magical sound of thousands of music boxes. I was very happy that I even found some music boxes with anime music like from Studio Gib. Just be aware that some of the music boxes can also cost up to $40,000. Our next stop is for everyone who loves to watch animals and discover some of the local ones. I’m talking about the Otto Aquarium. It’s located a little outside the city center. It’s home to marine life from Hokkaido’s cold northern seas, and you can also catch shows with dolphins, seals, and even penguins. [Music] A place I did not visit but got recommended from my friends, is Asah observation deck. They just felt like a walk up from Our Station and said it was really beautiful. You can have a great view of the city and also enjoy some local shrines nearby. If you feel like the observation deck is not high enough for you, you can take the cable car and drive to Tangoyama observation deck. They say that the view is beautiful and it gets even more pretty at night. The cable car just takes about 6 minutes and costs around $10. If you are like me, then you also want to eat something tasty in the city you explore. Let’s talk about the best food spots in Otaru. First up is Naruto Main Shop, famous for its fried chicken. You can find here a lot of different kinds of chicken. Many locals swear by it, and after one bite, you will understand why. Another highlight is Otia. This brewery recreates authentic German style beer using traditional methods and the food menu matches perfectly. Please do not expect authentic German food, but if you want some contrast to the Japanese food, it is the place to be. The place I love to go always when I’m in Japan are the conveyor belt sushi restaurants. If you feel like sitting with your friends in a relaxed atmosphere and enjoy the different kinds of fresh seafood, Barakan sushi will be a great place to visit. The price are low and you can eat as much or as little as you want. If you’re not that hungry or you want to finish the day with a dessert, then you should go to Leto main store. This pastry shop is world famous for its double from cheesecake and tasting it in Utaroo feels special. The cake is light, creamy and melts in your mo. I was surprised to see how beautiful all of their pastries look like. Utaru may be known for its canal and its food, but what it doesn’t have is a great beach. If you feel like swimming, I can recommend to drive further to Uichi. I had a great time at the beach there and was not even crowded. I hope I gave you some ideas for your trip to Utaroo. If you’re interested in other places or have ideas for what I should cover next, please leave me a comment.
I went to Otaru and want to tell you my recommendations for the city.
