Cheap Street Food in Tokyo’s LUXURY Ginza?!

Today we are here in Ginsza, Tokyo, and we are going to be feasting on a variety of street food that we’ve never had before. If you like street food, this is the video for you. Welcome back to our channel. This is a street food series number one. If you’ve been watching us for a while, you know that we love street food and we decided to make this into a series because we know that many of you guys also enjoy street food as well. Our first video is taking place here in the Ginsza area. Ginsa is known as high-end, a lot of fashion boutiques, but we know Ginsa more as street food. So, we are starting in front of Ura Cho station. So, shop is the famous sweets in Kyoto and this is called Kunan. It’s a baked pastry and inside is cream. M very light crispy outside inside is little bit heavier buttery aroma. The cream very creamy custardy taste. This custard flavor is my favorite one. So I got the matcha queen of course cuz I love matcha. I’m a matcha fiend and it looks delicious. M. Oh wow. The texture of the pastry is actually very unique. Like Satoshi said, it’s between sakuto and parito, I guess. But it’s flaky, but also crunchy. It’s really, really yummy. And the pastry, the flavor is really beautiful. The bottom of the pastry is actually caramelized. So, you have that a little bit of caramelized flavor and texture. And the matcha cream is wonderful. Well, this is from a famous Kyoto bakery after all. And Kyoto is famous for matcha, so obviously it’s going to be good. But wow, you know, this shop I’ve been wanting to go for the longest time. We finally got to try it. I’m so happy to say we both approved. That was a beautiful beginning to this street food tour. Now, the next place is right next door. Actually, it’s located in a building called Tokyo Kotu Kaikon. And we are going to the Okinawa antenna shop. This is where you can find Okinawan goods, Okinawan gifts, Okinawan food, and of course, something to nibble on on the street. You can actually get really good soft serve from the Hokkaido antenna store, but that’s for another day. We feel like eating something Okinawan. And here we are. This is the Okinawan antenna shop. Let’s go. So, they have so much to choose from, guys. They have Okinawa style tempura. And we decided to get two of them. We got the fish tempura and the mo seawe tempura. We also got the pork pie as well as a sata anagi. So happy they can get sata here. Okay, so let’s start with the mosuku tempura. Mosuku is a type of seaweed that’s abundant in Okinawa. And this is actually one of my favorite ways to enjoy it. Dimas, the outside is crispy. Not as crispy as your Tokyo style tempura, but that’s the way it should be. The inside is moist, and you have the texture of the mozzuku seaweed. Yeah, there’s a little bit of texture in there and really mild uh seaweed flavor. Okay, this is something called pork pie. And I actually have never tried this, but I have seen uh places where they sell these in Okinawa. So, I’ve always been kind of curious to try it. Kind of looks like a taco, doesn’t it? [Music] This is insane. I thought it was going to be like maybe ground pork like taco meat or something. No, it’s spam pie. It’s lunch for me. That is crazy. And there’s some ketchup in there. The outside is like a tortilla shell deep fried. Surprise, surprise, surprise. This is my favorite Okinawa snack called Sakano Tempra. The fish tempra tempra, but different from Tokyo Tempra. It’s more like the fritter. M. So inside white fresh fish, tasty fish taste, lightly seasoned with salt. Outside it’s crispy. Very good. Very good. Templ. Also, I want to try this sata and [Music] outside moist slightly sweet. This reminds me in Okinawan days. Every time we come to Ginsa, it’s really hard for us to resist not visiting the shop. we just visited right now. By the way, Okinawan tempura is different from the tempura you can find here in Tokyo, for example. Uh you eat it with uh no sauce or anything because it’s already uh lightly seasoned with salt. Also, like Satoshi said, it’s more like a fritter. So, the batter is thicker than your typical tempura that you eat here. Still, we are hungry. So, I want to eat rice bowl. Rice bone on. There is a oniiri shop in Ginsa. Ooh, let’s check it out. So, we got a couple of oniiri from this place called Caoi. And they have a variety of oniiri or Japanese rice balls. The variety is incredible. I got something really simple and refreshing. This is the ume shiso oni. So, that is ume pickled plum that’s been smashed with some uh shiso parallel leaf on the top. Look how big the oniiri is. I think this is about double the size of the oniiri you get at a convenience store. [Music] Oh M because there’s pickled plum. It’s sour, but it’s also a little bit sweet. So, I’m sure they’re using like pickled plum, but pickled in a little bit of honey as well. Not only is there um and per leaf there, but it’s also filled with more ume and parallel leaf. Oi, Satoshi, you picked a really good place. So, mine is the spicy polo glow with cheese and bonito flakes. M wow. I think it’s almost double size of convenience store rice bowl cooked perfectly. I can enjoy the each caros not smooshed and seasoned with salt very nicely. This one so much feeling inside and on top. It’s spicy but nice spiciness. It matches with this delicious rice. So nice. And this cheese and bonito flakes gives an umami. Mhm. So we just finished eating the oniiri at this park uh nearby the onigiri place. But wow, we just found this really really viral spot called a sun and they are famous for their deep fried sandwiches. We’ve never tried them. So we’re going to get some. Look at this. It’s beautifully deep fried and so much filling inside. Mine is very spicy ka curry sandwich. So look at this beautifully deep fried shupan bread. And inside looks like a rice but it’s I think it’s cheese. Oh nice spicy mix and cheese doesn’t work so much because it is so spicy. M m. It’s very light and sak to crispy and very crispy and it’s evenly deep fried. So nice crispiness. I can enjoy the curry taste but it’s spicy. Very spicy. So I got their seasonal special. This is their fresh fig sando deep fried bread filled with whipped cream topped with fresh figs, blueberries and it looks amazing. And because it’s such a hot day is it is starting to melt. So, I’m going to uh try to eat it as elegantly as I can. M. This is actually very delicious. So, the outside, like you said, Satoshi is deep fried to us crisp. Well, that’s kind of like a familiar flavor, you know, like deep fried bread. But the whipped cream and all the ingredients on the top is very, very refreshing and summery. Um, not too sweet at all. The whipped cream is not sweet. The figs are fresh and ripe. It is fig season after all. Because these sandwiches are deep fried, I thought they would be heavier, but they are actually quite light and refreshing. Delicious. I was just looking at their menu and they have a new one, this purple sweet potato brulee, which looks amazing. This is the one I just had, the fig, but they also have shine muscat. And you know, they have a shop now in Harajuku as well as Asakusa. I’m really curious to go to the Astakusa shop because they have one with unagi grilled eel inside one of these sandwiches. Yeah, I gotta say um the these ai sandwiches are a great idea. A little difficult to eat, especially if you get the one with a lot of topping. My curry kima curry was incredibly spicy. It was. I only took a tiny bite and that was enough for me. I got sweat now. I’m But it’s not because of the temperature, it’s because of the curry. Yeah, the curry was good though. Yeah, tasty curry. And they do have a kima curry but the nonspicy one. So if you like curry, maybe go for that one. After the spicy curry, I need refreshment. So we came to Ginsa Banana Juice. They are doing their business for 10 years, more than 10 years. And they say this place is a world or Japan’s first banana juice only shop. So and you can choose a variety of base like milk, soy milk, coconut milk and mine is oats milk. You can choose the other ingredients. I chose katana vegetable. They have variety so many variety of ingredients. Very very smooth banana and just like flavor of banana. It’s sweet. It’s very natural sweetness. So, I got the one with the coconut base and I mixed in rum raisin. That’s amazing. Like Satoshi said, there’s a lot of mixins that you can mix in. So, this is an additional 150 yen with the coconut milk. This is medium size as well. M. I feel like I’m in a tropical island. First of all, I can taste the coconut milk, which is delicious. I really love coconut milk, but the addition of the rum raisin makes me feel like I’m drinking a milky cocktail. This banana drink shop is amazing. The lady that works here is so sweet. I I think there’s like a couple that that operates this restaurant, right? Definitely check it out. We got a couple more places to go. Yes, we’re still going to eat more food. There’s so much street food, guys, in Ginsa. Can you believe it? Anyway, uh where are we going next? Bhutaman. Bhutaman. Yes. Pork bun. Pork bun. Oh, there’s like a pork bun specialty shop in Ginsa. Yes. I’m excited. This shop is called Ginsam. Ginsa is this area. This shop open at 4:30 p.m. and open until 200 a.m. Because this area is nightife area, we bought Ginsam. This one is a mixed ingredients and the size is humongous for me. Ooh. So inside there, egg, pork, meat, shrimp, and vegetables. M. The taste of the sesame seed oil, it has a depth. And of course, the bum is very fluffy. And the umami of shiake mushroom is so good. Of course, the pork works nicely. And I saved Kuo egg for Shinichi. All right, we have one more thing after this. Uh, Satoshi promises that we get something cold because it is so freaking hot right now. I can’t believe it’s September already. It is so hot. Anyway, I’m going to take a bite of the mud if you don’t mind. M. The meat is so juicy. And this is chalk full of ingredients. Like, I taste the shrimp. I even got cabbage in my mouth. And that quail egg just literally bursted in my mouth right now. I love the bow skin. The texture is so nice and soft. Has a nice subtle sweetness that I love. By the way, they have some other buns here like they have a a curry bun. They have a special bun. Not sure what that is. They even have a Kagoshima pork bun. So curious to try the other things here next time. But anyway, now it’s time to go and eat something sweet. I think that’s going to be the last one because I am stuffed. We have so much food today. We came to sweet shop called sweet shop pier marini and I bought this soft. It’s custard chocolate. Chocolate custard. My favorite flavor. It’s melting. I I eat I eat. What’s a beautiful chocolate taste? M custard. This one my custard flavor is subtle but I think it’s a balance with this the chocolate flavor. It’s really tasty. It’s melting melting. It’s so hot. Nice chocolate flavor so the last thing for me is a craft cacao cola. Sounds delicious. It is delicious. Oh, it’s so good. I was not expecting it to be so good. How can I explain it? Oh, wait, wait, hold on. It’s sweet, kind of a little bit caramelly, fruity, chocolate tea, but it’s very refreshing. It’s light. It’s not heavy like chocolate or anything. Wow. And it’s also citrusy. This is so good, Wow. Thank you so much, Satoshi. I needed this. I really, really needed this. You know, I’m so happy we did this. Uh we’ve never done street food in Ginsa before and I am pleasantly surprised that there are many many uh shops selling street food. Uh so I feel like uh part two is coming in the future. What stood out for you today? As a shop, I like the banana juice. Okay. Okay. The lady was nice. The lady sweet. And other food, I like the onigiri. Okay. I did like the onigiri. I did like the banana smoothie. Oh my god, I actually like everything today. One of the things that stood out for me was the first thing that we had, that pastry. That one, the one that I cannot say that was outstanding. I also enjoyed the the last drink I had, the craft cacao cola. I’ve never had anything like that before. But anyway, everything was really good. I’m super happy today and I hope you guys enjoyed this video. I hope you’re happy that we’re doing a street food series of Tokyo. Today we did Ginsa. 1. Absolutely Delicious. What a treat it was. One of my favorites was Kougnane which reminds me of Cream Rolls we used to have here in India back in childhood days. Love you both, If There's a new restaurant or place in Tokyo that serves Japanese-Indian fusion food, would love to see your take on it.😮

  2. I love that you're doing more of these street food videos. I absolutely loved them in the past, so I can live vicariously through both of you! Take care!
