한국인 9999999%는 절대 모를 일본 욕망의 거리 탐방기
Yahoo~ Hello everyone, this is Yeonseo’s Horizon, who left Osaka and has now arrived in Nagoya . Nice to meet you. Today, as written in the title, ‘The Street of Desire that Sees Differently When You Get to Know It’ … I came to you with a rather provocative title, but actually, since it’s my first time in Nagoya, I searched for some videos, but all I could find were keywords like mukbang or boring city ..! So I thought, ‘Is that really all there is?’ and searched, and there were a lot of interesting facts about this street, like hidden stories and history ..! So I thought it would be a good idea to focus on that today, so I turned on the camera! And lastly, there’s a sushi restaurant I found out about, right? I was going to finish up by eating there, but it’s a small(?) place, so I’ll eat there before I leave work . Ta-da! I can see Nagoya Station right in front of me.. Wow ! (For a moment, I thought I was in Korea;) This is the west exit of Nagoya Station. Can you see that huge building in the back? So this is the west exit, and if you cross over there, you’ll get to the east exit, right? I’m going to cross over here and get started, but I heard that the east and west sides of Nagoya Station have very different vibes! The east side has a very modern, sophisticated vibe, and the west side has a bit of a vintage—to put it nicely, vintage—or a bit of a slum vibe, to put it badly! So tourists usually head to the east side, right? If you search for places to visit in Nagoya, you’ll find Nagoya Castle, Toyota Museum of Industry and Technology, Noritake Forest, Mirai Tower, Nagoya Station East and West? Sakae, Nagoya City Science Museum, Osu Shopping Arcade (I wonder if they’re even in the same neighborhood?) . But if you look up history and stories, this side becomes much more interesting, so I came here. Do you see that yellow thing in front of me? It’s a movie theater, everyone. Independent films? I think they mainly show independent films! From 10:20 to 12:05. (I calculated it and it’s 1 hour and 45 minutes.. it might be short;) It’s similar to the running time of a regular movie (this terrible analog country..) It’s all written by hand, by hand..! If you come out of the west exit of Nagoya Station, you can see it..ㅋ I looked it up and the west side has this kind of charm! It ‘s a bit old-fashioned, vintage. They say that among Nagoya locals, it has an image of being a slum. There are two reasons. 1. This area was originally a black market. So, after World War II, a black market started to appear. After the war, children had nothing to eat, so the government managed all the supplies and distributed them fairly. At first! It wasn’t enough! So, because people (had a shortage of supplies), they started opening shops one by one (near the station) and operating them. They say there were about 600 shops at the peak . But if they cracked down too hard, people might starve to death or crime might occur, so they said that there was an atmosphere where they kind of hush it up ! Now, as we were walking and talking, I saw Eki Nishi Ginza* Station. If you go about 1km further from here , you’ll reach the Street of Desire..! The second reason this place looks like a slum is 2. Jjokbangchon. So, if you look at Nagoya’s geography, it’s right in the middle of Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka. So, this is also the birthplace of the construction industry and Toyota . People, goods, and money flowed and gathered here, and there were a lot of jobs, especially construction? There were a lot of construction jobs, so there were day laborers working on site. They said that these people lived in single rooms here. Now, it looks neatly renovated like this, but how are they using those single rooms now? If you look behind the Korean food mart (a 3-minute walk from the station), you’ll see the jjokbang building where the workers used to live! It says 1 here , 2, 3, right? It’s being used as a business hotel now..! (The weather was really bad when we were filming) It’s starting to rain now. Filming today was really tough; I tried to take a picture of just a little bit, but it rained so much that my words became a mess🥹 (I took refuge from the heavy rain for a moment, but it stopped right away. What?) The place I came to is ‘Komeda Coffee’, which is a local chain similar to Japan’s Starbucks! (Red bean toast, 5,500 won) I’m going to try this today. (Especially the morning set) Nagoya is a town with a lot of cafes, right? You said there were a lot of workers. These field workers work early in the morning, right? They say that if they have a meeting at the field, it’s noisy, so they held it at a cafe near the field, and that’s how cafes developed! (It’s said that the morning set originated when they provided refreshments/desserts to keep the meeting going at their cafe.) Ta-da! 4 pieces of red bean paste, butter, and toast for 5,500 won . It’s delicious..! The red bean paste balances out the richness of the butter. And one of the reasons I often come here is because the portions are large! (+ The toast is thick so it’s very filling) So these days, there are a lot of foods that are a bit tricky, right? Like I ordered something but it was smaller than the picture, but Komeda Coffee is famous among Japanese people for its large portions and size, so much so that they’re called a godsend! (I found an unusual place while walking down the street..!) There’s a police station right next to me, right ? Do you see the white building that says ‘New Rayzo’ over there? That’s.. Soap Land, which is still in operation.. It’s one of the brothels in Japan (The layout is unbelievable..) I walked from the police station for less than 30 seconds and that’s what I saw right away? (It’s strange, but it doesn’t look like a brothel..) The entrance looks something like this, right? If you don’t tell me, I won’t know . There’s no one here right now.. Bathing time is 90,000 won for 60 minutes. Service fee is separate. Look at the bottom. It says 18+. Who gets paid 90,000 won for an hour just to take a bath? The more I find out, the more I find out. Japan is… The soap in soapland is the English word for soap. There was a time when the Japanese government had very strict regulations on prostitution. Back then, people who were in the prostitution business couldn’t do business openly, so they came up with a concept and started over! One of the concepts that emerged was this: creating a worldview! You can think of it as a place that operates under the concept of a bathhouse, claiming , “We just provide a place” and “It’s a place that became like this because the customers fell in love with each other.” It may be a sentiment that’s a bit difficult for Koreans to understand, but in Japan, they are still openly operating under that name. + This road I’m walking down now looks like an ordinary residential area on the outside, but if you look closely, this place (traces of which remain here and there, like the establishment I just saw) used to be Japan’s largest red-light district… a brothel! There’s a beige building in front of you . If you look over there, the road splits into four*, but due to the nature of the place, it shouldn’t be known to outsiders. That’s where people come in secretly, right? They say they twisted the road strangely to make the red-light district less visible ! Originally, Nagoya was a planned city (with streets paved in exact square shapes) , so it was a neighborhood that was designed to be neat and tidy, right ? It was connected at bends or diagonals, but that’s why it was forked. Do you see the four-way intersection I mentioned earlier the moment I finished speaking ? If I show you from a bit further away, it feels like this . If you go this way, you’ll reach the outside world. If you go around here and go this way, you ‘ll reach the red-light district . In terms of land area alone, it’s 32,000 pyeong , 2.5 times the size of Jamsil Baseball Stadium..! It was a red-light district of incredible scale that operated at a scale of 2.5 times the size ..! (The mart with a singular point) There’s a soapland over there! 👈 There’s a store I passed by earlier, and there’s a mart right next to it? The local mart (check the controversial rice price as soon as you enter) is so expensive?; It’s almost 50,000 won for 5kg? 4,947 yen This was price-adjusted and I heard it went back down to 2,000 yen, but does that not apply to places like this? One bread is 1,170 won, 1,060 won. Matcha latte is 1,170 won . Wow, it’s so fresh and cheap? 10,000 won for this quality is really cheap, isn’t it? 10 kinds of sushi are only 6,400 won! Hey, this is 6,400 won, 6,400 won! (You’d be an idiot if you don’t buy it.) So, you know that black building on the right? (I feel a bit embarrassed, so I explain in a sly way;) It’s the same there! That’s also Sofland! But it says it’s open from the morning there; I saw a place exactly like that in Osaka ? About 4-5 friends who looked like college students ? 4-5 people leaned in front of the store, checked the price list, and then went in! All of them! There are so many different plans, and there are discounts for groups if you go in the morning, and it seems like there are discount plans! I heard that when you want to experience something but don’t have money because you’re a student, you gather a few party members and go . Oh, I didn’t want to know either, but as I made (Japanese) friends and talked (useless tidbits that you can rarely find on the internet..), I found out stories like that. (Of course, there are also decent cafes like this..ㅎ) (Found a Korean restaurant..!) Should I go a little closer? I heard there are a lot of hidden restaurants around here and they’re preparing.. Bibimbap 10,000 won, kimchi naengmyeon 10,000 won, 3 dumplings 4,000 won. I think this person is the owner . Anyway, seeing that Korean restaurant reminds me of this. I heard that there’s a Koreatown in Nagoya too ! When I thought of Koreatowns in Japan , I only knew of Shin-Okubo in Tokyo and Tsuruhashi in Osaka, but I heard that there’s a Koreatown in Nagoya too . When I watched a video, it wasn’t an overt Koreatown! (It’s faintly noticeable near the station), but it was a Koreatown. So, during the Japanese colonial period, Koreans were taken to Japan and lived in specific areas in Osaka and Nagoya ! Koreans were taken here and mobilized (for forced labor…) to do field work and other such things. They wanted to live like that until liberation and then return to Korea, but the Korean War broke out, and with a series of disasters, they couldn’t return to Korea, so some people ended up settling down here, building houses and living in what is now a shantytown near Nagoya Station . That’s how Nagoya’s Koreatown started. There were many people who came as refugees and were forcibly taken over, worked, but couldn’t return and ended up settling down . Things have improved a lot now, but until 20-30 years ago, they faced a lot of discrimination! It was like that at school, and if you go to Korea, you’re Japanese, and if you’re in Japan, you’re Korean. They said that they faced discrimination that wasn’t discrimination, so they couldn’t go to school properly, couldn’t get a job, and lived a difficult life. When I study those things one by one, I think that no matter how difficult it is now, it’s better than back then . I’m much happier now that I can talk to the camera without a worry ..! I think to myself , I’m living a happy life now . (For those who were taken over back then..) How sad must it have been? They didn’t belong here or there, were discriminated against, bullied, and all that.. A secret map! Haha. It’s shaped like a square and stretched out. This sign was made based on the map of the old red-light district. Business hours are 12-16.. They’re making it really short? (It was written on the door that he was resting because he was not feeling well) But I found out about this cafe a year ago when I saw it introduced in a video, right? You’ve been feeling unwell for a whole year now..! Is that Kinon in Daejeon? (It was ‘Gin & Kino’. A mysterious restaurant in Daejeon that’s famous for not being open) It’s really famous.. People who’ve tried it say it’s really delicious, but when you actually go there to eat, the door is not open.. It seems like a bit of a mysterious place? If you look into it, it’s a yakuza office or something; I’m not sure, but (that evening) hello everyone. Sushi.. I’m going to eat now, it’ll take about 15 minutes on foot, and as I said at the beginning, it’s not your average sushi . The name is a bit extreme! They sell sushi with a bit of a sexual joke mixed in, right? So I have to keep looking at (the map) like this. Maybe it’s because it’s rush hour, but there are a lot of office workers..! (Arrived at the problematic sushi restaurant..!) 📍Maruhachi Sushi Umai .. Yasui.. = Cheap and delicious. There’s a sushi restaurant right when you go up . Now, the tuna and hamachi above are ordinary, but the ones below are a bit.. (It roughly means a menu with creative elements) Dragon Maki Ochi Kobore.. Ice Cream Maki Alaska Maki? There are two things I’m worried about: 1. Will I be able to order properly? 2. Price : There are some reviews saying that people got ripped off because the lunch prices were written but the dinner or a la carte prices weren’t ? I set my budget at 100,000 won, but I don’t know. I’ll go in and take a look. There’s a yakitori restaurant next door, so the smoke is no joke; Please.. There shouldn’t be anyone there😣! Huh? There’s no one there (Lucky). However, although I got permission to film, Yeonseo was overwhelmed by the owner’s atmosphere and ended up crouching. I think I should do a concept where I don’t speak Japanese; I think that way it will be a little easier to film;; First, take a picture of the menu and mark it so that you can see the sexual harassment nigiri, Matsuda Seiko Maki, ice cream maki, insensitivity maki, dragon maki, soapland maki, and Mitsuya cider maki. That’s how you should order. First, when a foreigner comes, they give you this kind of ordinary menu (sushi with sexual jokes.. haha) and when I said I wanted to eat something a little more unique, they said I wouldn’t know what it meant.. (I’ve already studied in advance..) (Looking at the menu from time to time) The lunch price is written, but the other items don’t, so it’s cheap, right? Sushi.. I don’t know how much sushi is in one set, but it’s 6,300 won.. (Lunch menu only) There’s almost nothing that costs over 10,000 won! (The menu we ordered came out) Matsuda Seiko, Matsuda Seiko , Matsuda Seiko.. Burikko! (You’ll know what it means soon) It looks like this. Matsuda Seiko is the singer who sang ‘Blue Coral Reef’, right? So I ordered it and it had yellowtail inside. There’s yellowtail inside, right? In Japan, there are two names for yellowtail! There are two names. Yellowtail’s childhood name is ‘buri (ブリ)’. In Japanese, there’s a word called ‘burikko (ぶりっ子)’ (= princess complex, coy..) Do you have a friend who acts a little cute? You call a friend who acts cute Burikko? So, as a play on words, I created a name that combines the yellowtail’s childhood name with the image of the cute Seiko Matsuda. It’s delicious, right? There’s already wasabi inside, so you can just dip it in soy sauce and eat it! (There was a review saying it wasn’t fresh.) I know there was an issue with the ingredients from the reviews, but it’s okay? It’s delicious! However, the seaweed… It’s a bit chewy because it’s not salty! This is a characteristic of Japanese seaweed…ㅋ.. The one in front of me feels a bit like this, but is this part there? This is… You can think of it as sushi with a bit of a sexual joke in it ! (While we were talking, we arrived at Sofland Maki) There’s a clam right there, right? (Clam = seems to be a reference to a brothel girl..) Delicious! (Sushi keeps coming out) This is my first time seeing it in person! I’ve seen it in videos.. but it looks like a scorpion, but it’s called Sekuhara (セクハラ) which is a sexual harassment sushi..ㅎ Hey, it’s really elaborately madeㅋ How do you eat this? (Eating the protruding part of the octopus first) Tacos are probably.. Isn’t the red one for a man’s penis and a woman’s penis.. Hoho It seems like the older I get, the less embarrassed I am about making sexual expressions ..! (Wow, I just sounded like an old lady But this old man really has good taste! How can he come up with such ideas? I’m so envious and amazed by people with such taste ! It’s so amazing how they can make jokes out of such simple words ! I want to learn that kind of taste. I don’t know, I don’t think I have that ability. (I finished it off with Dragon Maki) (Dragon = I’ll use ingredients so spicy that it’ll spit fire) (I suddenly became a woman with a story) (Scratches the bangs of the spicy forehead) I can handle other spicy flavors, but I can’t stand wasabi; (It was delicious) 4,730 yen.. It wasn’t as much as I thought? I even drank beer? (100,000 won) Honestly.. I came prepared, but it didn’t even come to 5,000 yen! It’s open from 10 in the morning to 5 in the morning? If you’re interested, go check it out, and when we were paying at the end (he said he was from Jeju), the old man owner said he was a Korean resident! He doesn’t speak Korean well, so I couldn’t understand him (compatriot.. nice..) I felt a slight affection for him at the end. Hehe. I’m not sure if you enjoyed explaining everything while walking around the streets of Nagoya from morning to night. Did you have fun? Anyway, I hope this was of some help to those who are planning to visit Nagoya, Japan . Thank you for watching until the end today . I’ll see you in the next video. Bye. I’m off work.
