(Madoka Ayai)
About 90 elementary school students and their parents in the city of Fukuchiyama, Kyoto Prefecture, experienced a hot air balloon ride on the early morning of August 30. The balloon was tethered to the ground by rope and floated 7 to 8 meters high. They enjoyed the view of the city with a castle from the sky. The Fukuchiyama junior chamber organized the event to help participants “feel the charm of their hometown.” A fourth grader who rode the balloon said, “At first, I was a little scared. It was my first time seeing Fukuchiyama Castle from above. There were more houses than I thought.”
