The Mt Fuji Lawson Barrier is BACK | What You Need to Know Before You Go

The famous Lawson Mount Fuji spot has gotten a new barrier. In 2024, this photo spot had become so popular with tourists flooding to take the iconic photo of the Lawson with Mount Fuji in the background that the local government put up a 2.5 m or 8 ft barrier to prevent people from taking this photo and disturbing the area. This worked to some degree till people started poking holes in the barrier to try to take the photos. Later, the barrier was taken down and replaced with fences on both sides of the street to prevent jaywalking, which was the main issue here as people stood in the streets to take their photos and disrupted traffic. Now, another barrier, this time 1.4 m or 4.6 6 ft tall was put up at the beginning of August 2025. And this was designed to prevent people from jaywalking, but to still be able to look over and take their photos safely. What do you think about the barrier? [Music]

The barrier outside of the famous Lawson with Mt Fuji in the background has been put back after being taken down last year. Tourists have been causing issues for locals in the area by crowding the street and jaywalking. The local government is hoping the new lower barrier will prevent street traffic while still allowing tourists to take their scenic photos.

  1. Respecting the place you are visiting and consideration of the locals who live there should be a priority of tourists!

  2. I really dunno why people do this when Chureito Pagoda is so close. I've only seen Chinese tourists take these photos when I was there 3 weeks ago

  3. Just take any of the pictures from Instagram and safe the money for the uber. Nobody will notice, nobody cares about you taking the same picture as 100.000 people before

  4. People's obsession with taking pics of everything they do is the epitome of narcissism. Especially now at concerts. Live in the moment or go die in a fire.
