What’s up everybody? Welcome. It is day four of the Kyushu Grand Tour road trip with the Double Dragons, Cook Sucks and myself. Today we are continuing the adventure up into Mount Aso, which is in between Kumoto and OA volcano. Oh, yo, it’s demon. Damn, we’re freaking off, dude. It’s so quick. This is crazy. We’re on it. It was like this giant secondhand or not even like collectible toy eco shop. eco shop with anime, comics, toys, video games, video game, everything you could imagine. It was actually insane. Yeah. And that was inside the city of Kumo. Kumoto. And now we are actually outside of the city. And there is a even bigger a bigger guru. Yeah. We went to one of three. Now we’re at number two, which is huger. It’s huger. Huger. And on the way to Mount Asel. We’re just stopping real quickly. I’m going to do a speedun. I’m going to do a speed run. This place is crazy. So, you got the games on the left and all the collectibles on the right. All right, Cook, how do you So, how do you like go about speedr runninging this type of thing? Uh, I mean, what I do is I just kind of like eyeball the section that I’m looking for and uh like right now I see some Lego mini figures and uh I’m looking for Lego minifigures. I’m just looking for like Batman stuff. I don’t see no Batman stuff, so I just move on. This is the uh confidence section where you have uh ladies with confidence. I don’t know how you can have some of this stuff like just chilling in your living room. You got to be confident. You got to be very confident. Wait, they’re called confidence figures. No, that’s what I say. Wait, she’s spreading her like Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Uh yeah, they’re they’re moving the underwear over so that the foot hole could breathe. Dude, I remember when I used to have to save I used to like save up all my money to buy a $20 spring pistol and I just buy Dude, if I was playing airsoft as an adult, I’ I’d go crazy. All right. Well, we’re headed to the mountain guy. Who’s ready for the mountain adventures? I’m about I’m ready to get up there, dude. Ready to feel some breathing in some of that fresh volcanic air. I am backing with that trip in LA. We got the five level. Double dragon. Double dragon. Double dragon. Double dragon. Double dragon. All right, ladies and gentlemen. Kushu road trip grand tour day four. Mount Aso. Finally. Where are we going? We’re going up there in the mountains. Cool. We’re going to the mountains. Yeah. In fact, that might be like Mount Aa over there. I don’t know. That’s cool. Assa erupted in 2021, 2020, and 2016. Oh god. Very active. What are the odds that the volcano hatches today? Unlikely. It would be awesome if volcano erupted today. I mean, we’d be dead. No. No. We can make it. What? What? We can outrun volcano in a car. Yeah. People like walk away from it in Hawaii like walking. You see the clouds up there? That’s the gas from the volcano. Is it? Are we going to die tonight? No. Damn. Look at that sky on the Yo, this is nice. Beautiful. Beautiful. This is nice. It doesn’t feel like I’m in Japan right now. Yeah, it feels like I’m in America. Y America is the only place that has trees. True. Like this is a scene that you find in Ventura. I feel like driving around the mountains, thousand oaks, tarana, something like that. Oh, yeah. This looks just like Mount Holland, a Mhalland drive. We are taking a 45minute journey outside of Kumoto. So far, we’re not at the mountain. What we found out today is Mount Oo, the crater of the actual volcano is closed down today due to a heavy amount of gas coming out of the volcano. Uh, so we cannot go up into the crater, unfortunately. But we are going to be driving up as close as we can. And this is one of the viewing points of the of the volcano of the mountain. Mount Al Mount Ala surrounded by some cloud coverage and maybe some heavy gases. We just see the gas. Look at that gas. That looks gassy. Look at that. That’s gas. My gas. Not too long ago, we were in an urban jungle. Concrete jungle. Yeah. Now we’re here. The wide openness and no. This is a good photo of you, dude. If the sun wasn’t so hot right now, this would be a perfect time to take a nap. Okay, so we are It’s working too. We have just we have we have just passed the the volcano the station of Mount Oso and now I guess it just opened up. We’re driving up now into to the crater. But it said you cannot go if you have any health conditions like lung issues or heart issues. We pay here and then we drive up there and we can go look at the crater. No way. We can do it after all. Yeah. The gas cleared up. Yeah. So we can actually drive up. This is crazy. Look at this. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, we’re driving up to Mount Oso Volcano, baby. It was worth it. Dude, the road. Wa. This is crazy. Look at this. We’re driving into a volcano. And there’s internet. Look at the volcanic rock on the right everywhere. Yo, that wa wa wait. This is a crater right here. Look, that’s the crater. Wait, what if you can you look inside and like see lava boiling? I I I think it’s a hot spring. Oh [ __ ] That’s Look at it. Oh. Yo, it’s steaming. There’s no way that’s good for your health. There’s no way that’s good for your health. We got to park around here. Dude, Jake, did you fart? No, that’s the gas. Oh my god, it stinks, dude. We have made it now. We’re on the top of Mount Aso, the volcano. And look at this. Therefore, we advise you not to. They just opened it up cuz earlier this morning, the gas was too heavy. But look at all the gas just coming out of it. Suffer from asthma. It’s coming from out of there, too. Dude, look. Look at the billowing smoke. So, it might efficate, guys. There’s multiple craters around here on the top mount. Also, we’re go to the main one, I think. Crater one. Look at it. Just billowing. Dude, this is terrifying. Like, it could just explode. It could. That’s what makes it fun. This thing literally just exploded a couple years ago. Wait, are these huts for like safety if it explodes? Seriously? Yeah. No way. Like, what? You huddle in there? Like it stops the ash from falling on you or something, I guess. So, I mean, I guess that’s what this wall is for, right? To stop it from like Mhm. immediately destroying something. Mhm. Wait, what the heck? That’s exactly what these are. There’s like break points. Volcano currently emitting extremely strong gas. SO2, sulfur dioxide. Those are asy or heart disease pressure entering the area. Ladies and gentlemen, we’re at Mount Ao active volcano and right now code yellow. be back in immediately if there’s air poison, but I’m okay. I used to smoke cigarettes for many years. It literally says that it’s a code yellow, so the gas concentration is warning. Evacuate immediately. It’s okay. It was at it was out of red this morning. Just like 2 hours ago. This is intense, dude. You getting scared? Yeah. I mean, these are protectors, right? So I think these are like they must be to stop to help. I mean you see that design is like I think it’s to give you like a false sense of security cuz if it does erupt you are dead. I’ve never been on the top of an active volcano but not this close. This is crazy. We’re on it. My god. Look at that. It’s literally just billowing smoke. Dude, that is crazy. So that’s how they make clouds. It’s a cloud machine. Okay. This is kind of cray cray though, dude. It’s possible at any moment this thing could just like really go start going crazy, right? Yeah. Like it could erupt right now. I mean, I think it’s farther down than you think. Like it’s not right there. It is way farther down. Those clouds are so high def right now. Wait, it’s coming up quick now. It’s coming this way. It’s coming quick, dude. Wait, it’s coming this way. Oh, it’s closing up. It’s closing up. It’s closing up, shot. Those are some thick ass clouds, man. D I think it’s coming, dude. Look. Bring it. It’s like water. It’s like green water, right? I think it’s sulfur. I think sulfur is that color. Sulfur’s green. A yellow green. Yeah, that’s for sure. Like sulfur. So that’s like a pool of sulfuric acid. I don’t know if it’s acid, but it’s like Oh, I see what you’re saying. Yeah. See, it’s like a lake. Is that a lake down there? Oh, I see what you’re saying. So, if that’s a lake down there, why don’t I think it’s Is this gas? Like the earth is farting. There’s water that’s probably being burned uh from the heat underneath. Like this is a crater here, right? Like that could also just blow. Oh, look. It’s clear view, man. It’s like a lake. There’s a lake down there. Ao lake. Oh, look. This is what it looks like. Yeah, it’s just the pool water there. Oh, this is when it erupted. That’s crazy. Strombient eruption. Imagine if we saw that. Cyper can go from bright green crater lake to mud eruption. Red glow phenomena. Oh, so this thing changes depending on what mood it is. It’s like a mood ring. All right. What’s inside the bunker? I mean, there’s no way they wouldn’t just like come in here. Yeah, that’s what I’m saying. Right. So, if in here, there’s no seats there. Damn. Dude, look at all these people. Graffiti. Look at Dai Yuka. Yeah. Oh my god. say all these Japanese people just defacing this property. So disrespectful imagine if a foreigner did it. Yeah. Mhm. Imagine that. You think there’s a little vending machine in here? Yeah, probably. Wait, you know what? I just realized this is an emergency assembling point. Look at this. Look at what this building is made out of. Like stone. Like it will Seriously. Like this is meant to like not melt for sure. What about the door? I think uh this is a very this is a big design flaw right here. So someone in the chat said that Mount Ala has an 11 mile long crater. It’s a huge like we might be in the crater. I don’t I don’t know cuz 11 miles that’s a long crater. Damn, the helicopter would have been cool guys. Maybe next time. That was really cool to see Mount Oo and come up and see the actual crater billowing smoke from the crater number one. I guess there’s multiple craters. And I think that this mountain is just extremely uh volcanic and active. So there’s a ton of different uh little craters like that around. Yes. City has a shrine. has it’s like a little quaint mountain village that will melt when the mountain erupts. The whole city. I assume this whole city would just melt. See, let’s see what Jake is doing. You think he’s sleeping or is he watching videos on the election? [Music] Okay. One nap later. Welcome to Aso Shrine. That’s crazy. There we go. It’s a Shinto shrine for various festivals and rituals are held at Shinto Shrine dating back 2,000 years. Well, people have been up here in Oso for a long time. Oh my little kid, dude. He’s wearing like a little samurai suit. A that is so cute, dude. What the heck? Uh this is the restoration cuz it had a big issue with the earthquake. So, a lot of this shrine got messed up in the earthquake in 2016. So, something cool about this actually. Cool. Yeah. This is one of the oldest shrines in Japan with 2,000 years of history. Wa. Isn’t that cool? That is cool. It does look old. And there’s an old tree. That is an old tree. It’s like a portal to Yeah. to Stranger Things. We need to go inside. What if she’s just like a sweeping NPC? Like that’s all she does all day. Just sweep. We can go inside, right? Yeah. All in. Cool. Okay. So, it’s one of the oldest shrines in Japan. Yeah. Obviously been probably remade many times. Yeah. But they usually keep it like pretty to scale. There’s so many things I want to learn. I just need to start reading books. I need to read books about matcha. Shinto religion. I’m really curious about Shinto. I’m going to say this is pretty badass to live here just because you can just look up and be like, “Oh, there’s the volcano.” But this is the main shrine and this is the entrance gate. Yeah. Just a little just a little peeky poo. You know, we’ve been to so many shrines that one thing I do say is traveling is like all the shrines I’ve been to in Japan, there’s only a few that have really stood out to me. I like to go if I know a little bit about it. Like this is a 2,000-y old shrine. It makes it very special, but sometimes they’re more interesting than others. Now we’re going to go to a is on the eastern uh edge of Kyushu. It’s oa and is a small city outside of OA called Beepu and it is known for onsens the devil’s onsen as they say. Now I think Cook and I have both been to before but I don’t remember much about it. I think I went there with like Tokyo Creative a long time ago. What is in that? Is that water? No, it’s the thingy from That is so bad. You’re going to Oh, yes. That’s like drinking gutter water. I’m going to explain why. That’s a bottom feeder. That thing lives on the bottom of the ocean and eats poop other fish for like it’s living. That’s all it does. Oh my god. I’m going to puke. That is disgusting. [Applause] Oh my god. I think I went to OA and Beu with I think I flew there with Tokyo Creative. Uhhuh. And we did like a little video in an Sen like Uhhuh. We We recorded a video in an ensen with the beach in the background. I remember. Really? Yeah, chat. We have made it to the city of Oita. Oita is also close to a city called Pepu. They’re they kind of tie hand in hand a lot of the times, but they’re very well known for their onstins, which we are not. We didn’t book. It’s a little pricey, guys. Yeah. Uh anyways, if you come, you should go to the onen. I have been to onen here and maybe we’ll hit one tomorrow. Who knows? Same. Same. That being said, guys, we finally made it here. Long journey. Sorry for all the headaches on stream. So, it’s like past 8:00 now. I think we’re both very hungry and we’re going to walk towards the station. Mhm. See what’s going on. This is OA, baby. This is the OA Mega Mall. It’s definitely different than Kumamoto. It’s a little more quiet in Kumoto. Yeah, it’s a little quiet. What is this? They have an OA community charging station. Charge your battery with free Wi-Fi. Look at her. She’s cute. Like a granny. Have you ever been to one of these diners like in Japan before? Denny’s or anything? Dennis. I’ve been to Denny’s. Oh, really? Yeah. Denny’s inside the Rio. I mean, Shazer is definitely different. It’s like it own little thing, but this will be like a Denny’s, I think. Oh, [Music] here’s what we got, guys. We got the uh This is a local specialty ever. I think this restaurant probably not going to be the best one. It’s just chicken tempura. Basy chicken nuggets or chicken pieces. Uh like strips. But, uh I’m probably going to try this again tomorrow at a better place. Yeah. Yeah, but I want to get based on what you want to taste like. [Music] Yeah. Want to try take a nugget and we get a piece of steak. Cook got a hamburger steak with a sausage and a little chicken chicken thigh. Dunkaroo. It’s just soy sauce. So, okay. It’s good. I mean, yeah. It’s just like a chicken nugget with like a piece. It tastes like chicken froggy but with a different coating. Oh, that’s good. That’s good. Total price for that meal for me and Cook was like $18. We just ate at a uh Japanese diner chain which I think is only in Kyushu. I’ve not I’ve not seen this chain in Tokyo area called Joyful. It was pretty cozy. Very flavorful. Very Joyful. Very flavorful. Very very demure. What the hell is that doing there? It’s a prop. Look how dusty it is. It’s not a prop. Real dirty. It’s very dirty. But is it just the guy who owns this restaurant just leaves his Ferrari in front? There’s a guy right here. What the heck? Why is that Ferrari just there? Something shitty about this town. Yeah. Something Something’s not something’s not adding up in OA. Yeah. Almost like it’s a ghost town. M and this is like the bare minimum of people keeping it afloat.
