Tennis superstar Naomi Osaka might have missed out on the US Open title, but she sure captured the attention of fashion’s most powerful figure, Anna Wintour.
The Japanese player sparked a huge buzz since the tournament kicked off in August.
From showing fans a series of stellar performances to head-turning game-day looks on the court, she has kept fans talking and left them with nonstop excitement online, especially with her unique Labubu collections.
As the 2025 US Open officially concluded with Belarusian player Aryna Sabalenka winning the women’s singles final and Carlos Alcaraz winning the men’s singles final, Osaka didn’t let a magical moment pass.
The 27-year-old took to Instagram to mark a special moment of a special encounter with Wintour.
The short clip featured the former Vogue editor-in-chief visiting her as she prepared for her match against Karolina Muchova.
Osaka wore her Nike purple kit, topped with a bedazzled jacket and paired with a playful balloon mini skirt. She completed the look with rhinestone-studded earphones that perfectly matched not only her Labubu plushie but also her hair accessories, a shimmering violet rose clip.
“Stamped,” she captioned her post.
The post immediately received a positive reaction from fans, with the majority swooning over the lovely encounter.
“Is that Anna WINTOUR??!!! I don’t think I’ve EVER seen that lady hug anyone !! Periodtttt,” a commenter said.
“Anna saying: You look amazing…OMG…Naomi is the best,” one wrote.
“The linkup I didn’t know I needed. I just know Anna was shaking in her boots,” a follower chimed in.
A follower hyped her and remarked, “Killing it in fashion and on the court. Go girl!”
On the other hand, some jokingly suggested she should attend the upcoming Met Gala.
“Now… we need her walking at the Next Year’s Met Gala,” a fan wrote.
Following this, the four-time Grand Slam champion posted another angle on her Instagram Stories, giving fans a closer look at the behind-the-scenes preparations and her game-day routine.
While she was with her team, Osaka received a compliment from Wintour, who said, “You looked amazing,” to which she replied, “Oh, thank you.”
Her hairstylist chimed in jokingly, “No peeking,” to which the fashion icon responded, “I won’t tell anyone.”
The brief encounter continued with the British-American media executive admiring her fashion sense and court-ready style, calling it “incredible” and wishing her “good luck” on her game.
Osaka made her Met Gala debut in 2021 as she stepped out in a striking ensemble from Louis Vuitton.

At the time, she appeared at the star-studded event along with her then-boyfriend, American rapper Cordae.
