【THE HOTEL HIGASHIYAMA KYOTO TOKYU】高級感溢れる非日常空間で静かに過ごしたいならこのホテル【京都/ホテル紹介/ホテル宿泊記】

Thank you for watching. This is Yusuke’s Travel! Day 2 in Kyoto, so we’re already starting from in front of the hotel. Watching this video all the way through will give you a thorough understanding of ‘THE HOTEL HIGASHIYAMA’, so please enjoy! This channel introduces hotels with great value for money and slightly more luxurious options. If you enjoy domestic travel and hotel stays, please subscribe! This is the car drop-off area. Please note this hotel does not have a parking lot. THE HOTEL HIGASHIYAMA KYOTO TOKYU, operated by Tokyu Hotels & Resorts. We’ll be staying here for one night. Additionally, the Tokyu Harvest Club’s ‘RESERVE Kyoto Higashiyama’ is also located here. This is the hotel entrance. It’s set back a bit, giving it a secluded, hideaway feel. Passing the entrance, you’ll find the hotel’s courtyard. When the weather is pleasant, it seems like a nice spot to relax. Just past the entrance, a doormat bearing the hotel’s logo welcomes you. Continue straight ahead to enter the facility. This is the lobby floor. To the right, there’s something resembling a glowing pillar with a Japanese-style pattern. Here’s the reception desk. Let’s check in right away. Processing the check-in. Actually, since I arrived later this time, I just needed to pick up my room key. You need to tap your room key to operate the elevator. Security is top-notch. Looks like we’ve arrived at the 2nd floor, the guest floor. The 2nd floor elevator lobby. And here is the hallway. The carpet design is said to evoke the flow and undulation of the Shirakawa River. This is Room 230, the one assigned to us. Above the door is a stylish room lamp. Let’s head inside right away and start the room tour! We’re inside the room. You can already tell this room is luxurious… Here’s the location of this room and the evacuation route. The DD card has a distinctive design, doesn’t it? We’ll cover the entrance area later. First, let’s head to the bedroom… This is the Premier Twin room. While the official specs list its width, it feels like a sophisticated space. The view is… Directly ahead… is the house next door. And below, the torii gate and approach path of Awata Shrine. Fans of a certain sword-themed work might recognize this spot. Looking around the room from the window, it’s like this. The bedroom is spacious, as expected. The carpet in the room matches the design of the hallway we saw earlier. The bed is 110cm wide, a wide single size. Two types of pillows were provided. The customary bed check. Sheets, bed pad, and so on… The mattress used was Simmons’ Beautyrest. Let’s look at the bedside, starting from the right side facing the bed. A reading lamp embedded in the headboard, along with a USB charging port, LAN port, and power outlet. When you turn on the bedside lamp, it creates a beautiful pattern like water ripples. The sense of luxury is incredible… Several books on the table. First, a catalog of works by Utagawa Hiroshige. An art book by Kumi Machida. A yokai art collection from the Miyoshi Mononoke Museum. Next, the left bedside. It’s basically the same layout, but there are more in-room phones and lighting controls. A BOSE Bluetooth speaker is also installed. In this table drawer, there was something with the hotel logo. It was stationery. Around this table by the window. Two chairs with stylish backs. There are various items placed on the table. This is what we received at check-in. The card key holder is shaped like a bookmark. This is the card key. It’s made of wood, which is nice. Breakfast voucher. It’s a Tokyu Hotels breakfast, so expectations are high! Information about the hotel’s various facilities. Includes Wi-Fi connection details. The Wi-Fi speed is quite slow: download at 21Mbps, upload at 23Mbps. Opening this wooden box revealed tea bags and coffee inside. And this… was actually a message card from the General Manager. Hojicha financiers. Probably from the General Manager. Right near the table, by the window, there’s also a Sharp humidifying air purifier. Now let’s look towards the TV side. Please note that all rooms are non-smoking. The TV remote. It was compatible with Smart TV. The closet is open-style. Neatly arranged hangers are provided. At the foot of the bed, a luggage rack and chest of drawers. Nightwear. This was a separate set. Tokyu Hotels’ initiative: the Green Card. Opening this drawer reveals a laundry bag. The laundry service price list. Here’s the sink. The open style is stylish, isn’t it? The simple, clean look is also a plus. Bath towels, face towels, body towels. I was wondering where the amenities were… and wow, this opens! Let’s look at the left side facing the mirror. Like the Green Card, these are Green Coins from Tokyu Hotels’ initiative. Here are the amenities. Toothpaste—I’m not a fan of this type. Anyone else feel the same? On the right is the skincare set from ‘MINUCA’, skincare products originating from a sake brewery. Around the sink. Even the glass has a smoky finish—very stylish. Face & Hand Soap with the hotel logo. Hand towels. They were Imabari towels. This drawer. Inside were mineral water, an electric kettle, etc. This was a door. Inside was a refrigerator. The refrigerator was empty. Let’s take a look at this chest of drawers. Disposable indoor slippers with a fairly plush feel. The hair dryer was made by Salonnia. A foldable stand mirror. Inside the drawer: the top section was empty, the bottom section was a safety deposit box. Various items are also provided near the foot area right inside the room. DEOAIR disinfectant and deodorizing spray. Shoe horn, brush, and shoe shine cloth. There were also indoor slippers. Finally, inside this door. By the way, the full-length mirror was here. Inside the room, immediately to the left is a sliding door leading to… It was a restroom of just the right size. The paper holder is a two-roll type. It’s a subtle but welcome touch that you can place things here. The bidet seat was the INAX brand by LIXIL. Inside this door on the bedroom side is… The bathroom and changing area. There’s a laundry bag too. The bathroom… has a nice atmosphere with its calming color scheme. The bathtub might feel a bit small. It also comes equipped with a rain shower. The handheld shower has adjustable water flow settings. Five different flow types, I believe. Be careful with the shower switch, it’s a handle type. Bath amenities. I couldn’t tell what was inside them… Here’s another room. This is the Superior category. Looks like a shower booth. Deluxe type. Accessible rooms are also located here. Premium and Executive. The other Premium rooms also appear to have shower booths. Suite Room. Higashiyama has been renamed Pan Pacific. Barrier-free accessibility. The limited number of rooms is a drawback. It’s best to inquire for details. A barrier-free route from Higashiyama Station to the hotel was also published. That concludes the room tour. Let me introduce the lunch I had. It’s Curry House ‘Spicy’, located right in front of Kumano Shrine, which I stopped at during my shrine tour. The menu features an introduction to the shop and their points of pride. Spice curry is medicine you eat—I couldn’t agree more! Seating is compact, with 20 seats including the counter. Menus are posted all over the walls, making it fun to look around! My curry order is ready! Handmade Chicken Katsu Curry for 930 yen! Look at this chicken cutlet—it looks delicious no matter how you look at it…! The cutlet was crispy, the meat was tender, and the curry was spicy and delicious! The reception area is visible in the back. The surroundings already look stylish. This is the hotel shop. It seems to sell unique items you can only get here. There’s also pottery displayed in front of the reception. Notice the ramp in the back. Further ahead, there seems to be a utility room. Since we’re here, let’s take a peek. An alcohol sanitizer dispenser is also placed in front of the room door. This is the utility room. On the left, you can see the exercise machines lined up. There are books here too, and it seems this room also has an iron, vending machines, and such. Here is the ironing board and iron. This desk has outlets. The vending machine lineup looks like this. The books don’t seem to be related to Kyoto, do they? There was an ice machine here too. Free, of course. Towels for gym users are also provided. Two Technogym treadmills. Two Technogym upright bikes. Technogym dumbbell set. The training mat is also Technogym. There’s also a water dispenser. And this hotel also has a private spa. I’ll show you what it looks like using photos from the official website. One of the three, Hou. It’s 6,000 yen for 60 minutes per room. It’s a spacious private spa with a nice atmosphere. The next spa room is apparently named Sen. This one features a rounded design. It’s ¥7,000 per room for 60 minutes. The third spa room, Gyoku. This spa room has a similar feel to the first one, Hou. It’s ¥7,000 for 60 minutes per room. They also offer a variety of esthetic treatments. There are many options listed, so feel free to pause if you’re interested. Now, back to the lobby we introduced upon arrival. You’re probably wondering about the right side as you shift your gaze, right? Descending these stairs, it seems you can actually reach the restaurant. Next to those stairs is ‘Sarei produced by Gion Tsujiri’. Directly in front of it is an egg-shaped object. The bar mentioned earlier is apparently produced by Gion Tsujiri. True to Tsujiri’s style, it features many tea-inspired menu items. It might be a limited-time offering, but they also had shaved ice on the menu. Personally, I’m really intrigued by a dessert called “Rosé”. Here’s the drink menu. It seems they offer tea tastings too. Basically, you can get tea-based drinks and alcoholic beverages. It was time for dinner, so we moved to Gion and came to a place I was curious about. It’s a place called ‘Yu’ where you can get okonomiyaki and teppanyaki. It’s walkable from the hotel, at least. We went inside and ordered. We got Calpis and oolong tea. In the kitchen, the owner and his wife, I think? were preparing our food. The ingredients for our ordered dishes were tossed onto the cooking griddle…! Using a spatula, they shaped the ingredients. Over there, another dish has already started cooking. Ah, that one is definitely going to be delicious. Shimeji mushrooms and bacon. Then yakisoba noodles were placed, with olive oil beside them. While infusing the oil with chili and garlic aromas, cooking the noodles… Meanwhile, pork was placed on the teppanyaki grill. Mixing the noodles, ingredients, and oil together as we cook! It’s done—pepperoncino yakisoba. This was seriously delicious!! And then the pork and egg okonomiyaki. This was also very tasty! And corn butter too. While I was filming the cooking the whole time, the owner even laughed and asked me, “Is that so unusual?” I’d love to visit again! Good morning! Morning has arrived! This is the restaurant ‘Nananoichi’ on the hotel’s basement level. By the way, you can also get here by elevator. Hand over your breakfast voucher at the front desk, and you’ll be promptly shown to your seat. With only 78 seats, it’s not particularly spacious, so it might get crowded depending on the timing. Now that we’re seated, let’s take a look at the buffet counter! Let’s start from here. Apple juice, orange juice, water. Milk, tomato juice, grapefruit juice. Hot milk. Gion Tsujiri tea. Let’s continue and take a look at this one too. Since our stay was just before Christmas, Stollen was lined up. Tea Earth tea bags. Looks like various dishes are lined up here. Saikyo miso chicken, hash browns. Scrambled eggs, ham & sausage. Ketchup, mustard. Jam, butter, marmalade, etc. Olive bread, brioche, multigrain bread, milk bread. Croissants, pain au chocolat. Cinnamon Danish roll, Pain aux Raisins, Cream Danish roll, Mini loaf bread. Corn flakes, brown rice flakes, All-Bran, dried fruit, milk. Next up. Soy milk yogurt. Fruit almond jelly. Pure Nature Organic Yogurt. Sweet rice wine and salted koji sauce, oligosaccharides. Orange, melon, pineapple. Cured meat, smoked salmon. Gouda cheese, Camembert cheese. Salad corner. Cherry tomatoes, mixed beans, colorful vegetable mix. Mixed lettuce. Sliced Early Red tomatoes, sprout mix, cherry tomatoes. Four types of dressing. Ginger might be unusual. Capers, olives, pickles, semi-dried tomatoes, salted rice malt cream. The corner displaying Kyoto pickles from ‘Gion Kawakatsu’. Vinegared rice made with silver rice from ‘Hachidaime Gibe’. Yuzu-marinated daikon radish, suzukizuke pickles. Red turnip pickles, crispy sansho peppers. Cucumber, Kyoto-style pickled vegetables. This seems to be the Japanese cuisine section. Boiled konjac, stir-fried fried tofu and dried daikon radish from Yamazaki Tofu Shop, sweet potato simmered in lemon. Okra dressed with sesame sauce, Nanban-zuke pickles using Chidori vinegar and Sawai soy sauce. Kyoto Miyama Yuba “Higashiyama Yudou” Hand-Scooped Yuba. Dashi soy sauce. Saikyo-yaki marinated in Yamari Shoten’s grain miso, homemade dashimaki tamago. Silver rice from Hachidaime Gibe. Warm dashi broth made with bonito and kombu from Kaki Zen Shoten. Roasted seaweed, rice crackers for ochazuke, Sawai soy sauce. Green onions, wheat gluten. Red miso soup using Yamari Shoten miso, Awaji onion soup. There was even shabu-shabu made with Kuroge Wagyu beef using tea from Gion Tsujiri. By the way, if the dishes aren’t already set out, you can ask them to prepare it for you. Honestly, having it made fresh and eating it right away is the tastiest! Here are the dishes we brought! They all look delicious, making it hard to choose what to bring! The Japanese Black beef shabu-shabu was delicious, even for me who isn’t a big fan of beef! I’m also enjoying a hearty salad! The burdock root and yuzu dressing was delicious too. The warm side dishes were also substantial. The Saikyo-yaki was absolutely delicious! The ochazuke was also very tasty. For fruit, I chose my favorites: melon and pineapple. I also brought bread, which is rare for me. Hotel bread really is delicious, isn’t it… After finishing the meal, flip this card over to signal you’re leaving. Thank you for the meal! It’s bittersweet, but it’s time to check out. How was your experience at THE HOTEL HIGASIYAMA KYOTO TOKYU? With a free shuttle bus from Kyoto Station and its proximity to the Gion area, it seemed like an excellent base for sightseeing in Kyoto, especially around Gion and Higashiyama. While transferring trains can be a bit tricky, perhaps because of that, the surrounding area is relatively quiet, making it a super recommended hotel where you can relax and unwind. Now, for the price you’re all wondering about… but. This time, I booked under special circumstances… For reference, on Yahoo! Travel, the same period for a Friday stay with breakfast for two was ¥44,000. That’s ¥22,000 per person. Usually, this is where I’d end, but this time I also visited several shrines around check-in time while sightseeing, so I’ll share some Kyoto sightseeing highlights too! For our pre-check-in shrine visit, we first came to Goo Shrine. A bronze statue of Prince Kiyomaro Wake, the shrine’s enshrined deity. The Sazare-ishi stones, 3m wide and 2m tall. They’re mentioned in the national anthem, aren’t they? The Kuni-no-miya Family Memorial Hall. The Kuni family has held positions such as Grand Shrine Priest of Ise Jingu. This is the Ise Grand Shrine’s Remote Worship Site. A remote worship site is a place established for worshipping deities or Buddha from a great distance. The autumn leaves in the shrine grounds are often quite beautiful, aren’t they? This is the worship hall of Gōō Shrine. I hear a large ema (votive plaque) depicting the zodiac sign for the coming year is displayed here starting around the end of November each year. The middle gate in front of the main hall. The sacred tree in front of the Prayer Hall. What a magnificent old tree. At its base stands a boar statue, said to be a symbol of Gōō Shrine. I was surprised to find the shrine grounds guide was digital… May my stubborn back pain from years past improve… This is the front gate. In the middle of the approach stands a stone pillar inscribed with ‘Guardian Stone for Recovery from Difficulties with the Legs’. Since we walked almost the entire way to visit the shrine that day, this was probably perfect timing? We also received a goshuin stamp. It was handwritten. Kyoto Imperial Palace Garden, right in front of Gōō Shrine. I arrived at Hakun Shrine within it. Its enshrined deity is Ichikishimahime-no-Mikoto. This is the main hall. It’s quite an impressive structure. Is this the sacred tree? Ah, this was the approach path. Information sign for Hakun Shrine. Seems to grant blessings for improving music and performing arts. It was a quiet, serene space. The goshuin stamp was handwritten. Leaving Kyoto Imperial Palace Garden, we came to Kumano Shrine via Marutamachi-dori. The enshrined deities include Izanami-no-Mikoto and Izanagi-no-Mikoto. The goshuin was pre-written. After a short walk from Kumano Shrine, we arrived at Heian Shrine. Ōtenmon Gate. Designated as an Important Cultural Property. I heard this is a 5/8 scale replica of Heian-kyo’s Otenmon Gate, but it’s nearly twice as big… We entered the precincts… Since it’s inside the gate, I expected it, but it’s quite vast. And there are fewer people than I thought… I didn’t see any Japanese visitors. The Daigokuden Hall at the front was marked as under renovation. The shrine garden looked large, so I didn’t enter this time. The goshuin stamp was handwritten. Visited Yasaka Shrine after checking out. There were many visitors. The goshuin was handwritten. Thank you for watching until the end!
Please look forward to the next video too! This was Yusuke’s Travel! We hope this helps you choose your next hotel. Subscribing, giving a thumbs up, turning on notifications, and sharing with friends and family really encourages me! I’ll keep introducing great value hotels and hot spring inns, as well as slightly more luxurious hotels around ¥30,000 per person per night including one meal… So please look forward to the next one! ☻ Yusuke’s Travel
