Athletics Kenya (AK) Nairobi branch chairman, Barnaba
Korir, says Team Kenya is ready to deliver a
strong performance at the World Championships in Tokyo, Japan.

Speaking on Citizen TV’s Sporty Monday,
Korir said the athletes have prepared well and are determined to improve on
their last outing in Budapest, where they won ten medals for the
country.

“The team is ready for the competition. The athletes have put
in the right work required to make sure they compete and win medals for Kenya. I am
confident they are going to win the country very many medals and make Kenya proud,” noted Korir.

The team will depart for Tokyo in two batches, with
the first one jetting out on Monday, and the other on Tuesday.

Korir confirmed that all travel
arrangements are in place to ensure the team is comfortable and focused on the
competition.

“All the travel arrangements have been made. The federation (AK) and the
technical team have put in the hard work required to make sure the athletes are
comfortable and will settle in well ready for the competition. So there
is no problem with that,”
added Korir.

Korir reassured Kenyans that the team is
clean, with every athlete having undergone three tests before departure.

“I can assure Kenyans we are sending a very clean team to the
championship. Every athlete has been tested three times. The government, ADAK, the Ministry
of Health and the federation have worked hand in hand to make sure that
we have a clean team,” stated Korir,
who also heads Youth Development at Athletics Kenya.

The World Championships will run from the September 13-21,
2025 in
Tokyo,
Japan.
