復古港町散策|北九州門司港 香蕉人 – 工作生活研究室 / 邊工作邊旅行

Hi everyone, welcome to the workation lab podcast. I’m Tobias. Today, let’s explore Mojiko, a beautiful retroport town in Kitakushu, Japan. As soon as you arrive at JR Moiko station, you’ll notice the stunning European style architecture. This station is over 100 years old and officially listed as a national important cultural property. It feels like stepping into a piece of living history. Just outside the station is the Moiko Retro District, filled with old western buildings, seaside views, and a relaxed atmosphere. And yes, I took a photo with the famous banana man. He’s wearing a full banana suit and represents a unique part of Moiko’s trading history. During its golden age, most of the bananas imported from Taiwan entered Japan through this port. Because Kayushu and Taiwan are so close, Moiko became a key gateway for tropical goods. So, Banana Man is more than just a funny mascot. He’s a symbol of Moiko’s strong connection to Taiwan and its past as a thriving trade hub. Thanks for joining me. I’ll see you next time on the Workation Lab
