Living in Fukuoka no.33 | Hidden gems in Ropponmatsu, Fukuoka

This is a Michelin Guide-listed
udon restaurant in Ropponmatsu. This is their signature dish. Squeeze the lemon. Pour the “Umami Bomb”
over the udon. The homemade noodles are
pleasantly firm in texture. Juicy, springy shrimp in every bite. Strolling Around Ropponmatsu. The taiyaki shop is a gathering place
for the locals. Plenty of restaurants around. And nice small shops. A paper shop on the café’s second floor. Beautiful papers from around the world
makes one’s heart pound like a kid. The atmosphere changes completely. Quietness envelops the place. This is a Japanese tea room,
my most favorite place in Ropponmatsu, Choose one tea, and one confectionery for pairing. This day, my matcha treat was accompanied by
a delightful chat with a Chinese visitor from Shanghai,
and a local pro sports player – who happened to be there.

Ropponmatsu in Fukuoka is a quiet residential area, where small restaurants and shops support the daily lives of locals.
Recently, more hidden-gem spots have been appearing – often in the old renovated apartments.
Strolling through the neighborhood, I stopped by my favorite udon shop (listed in the Michelin Guide) and a private, tranquil tea room, enjoying a humble but heartfelt moment.

  1. Thank you for another beautifully curated vlog. The Bukkake udon looked refreshingly delicious. I was surprised at how much sauce was actually poured onto the noodles and what was left in the bowl when you were done. How wonderful was that paper shop?!😊 Tsukishiro's "quietness" was perfectly captured in your video. The lemon agar treat looked yummy. It seems like a perfect spot to sip tea and let one's mind wonder. Thank you for sharing. Have a fabulous week ahead. 😊❤
