MARINE CORPS AIR STATION IWAKUNI, Japan – If the best offense is a good defense, Josh Rodriguez provided a poster-child example in Matthew C. Perry’s season opener on Friday.

The senior returned an interception 33 yards for a touchdown, Kelton Clark rushed for a score and Kameron Ramos ran and passed for a TD each as Perry outlasted Zama 27-18.

“It feels good, but it’s back to work on Monday to get ready for (Robert D.) Edgren,” said A.J. Edwards, who won his debut as the new Samurai head coach, replacing Daniel Burns.
