Sabalenka beat Anisimova, 6-3 7-6(3), to win the US Open title for a second consecutive year.
In reaction to how the final played out, Naomi Osaka’s former coach Patrick Mouratoglou named the two ATP players he thought Sabalenka and Anisimova were playing like.
Mouratoglou compared Anisimova to Carlos Alcaraz, before suggesting that Sabalenka was more like Sinner due to her intensity and consistency.
The Frenchman wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter), “Anisimova is Alcaraz and Sabalenka is Sinner. The first one taking a lot of risks and making the winners and the unforced, the second one putting a lot of intensity and consistency.”
Sinner will also be looking to defend the US Open title when he plays Alcaraz in the men’s singles final.

Patrick Mouratoglou says what Aryna Sabalenka’s reaction shows him
After winning championship point in the second set tie-break, Sabalenka fell to her knees and held her head in her hands in emotional scenes.
Despite experiencing winning three previous Grand Slam titles, Mouratoglou has suggested this one may be her most important yet as he explained how Sabalenka was different to recent major final losses.
Mouratoglou wrote, “The tears of Aryna show how important this one is and how much there was on the line. She found a way to be mentally stronger than in the last two finals this year. Great for her future Grand Slam finals.”
