Summer Hokkaido Travel Vlog #1 – Pre Travel and Travel Day
Good morning and welcome to a pre-travel travel day. So what I mean by that is um tomorrow I’m going to travel but I travel from Seoul and Seoul is far away from where I live. So today I will be heading to Seoul and I’m going to stay overnight at a hotel near the airport. I think it’s like hotel tour something. I don’t know. I’ll figure it out when I get near there. I know where the station’s at. But uh then tomorrow I will be going to Hokkaido for the first time. Um also my normal little travel companion is not with me at this point because he is working today. Um but Changho will be meeting me at the hotel later and we will be going together still. So, I need to get going. It is now almost 9:30 and my train to Seoul leaves Deu at 10 oh, I don’t even know anymore. 10 something 10:47 I think or 10:37 or something. But I need to go. So luckily I’m on top of things though mostly cuz um I was going to take the subway but I think I don’t want to look like a sweaty drowned rat by the time I get to the trade station. So I decided to take a taxi. It only takes like 25 minutes and I have over an hour so it should be fine. Um, luckily I’m on top of things this time and I actually cleaned up my apartment and stuff beforehand, so I don’t have to freak out about having a dirty, gross apartment when I come back. Um, also I’m actually all packed and ready for once, like way ahead of time, and I’m not rushing out the door and my apartment being a mess cuz I just threw stuff in the suitcase like 2 minutes ago. I finished a little while ago. I started last night. I got all the clothes in. and I did all the bits and bobs today. But let’s go so I don’t miss my train. Okay, let’s go. Let’s go. Okay. Well, I made it to the station at like 10:02 and my train is at 10:43, but I’m going to go over to Shinsi and get some coffee while I’m waiting because there’s not a lot of room to sit around in this station. So, let’s go. [Music] ended up having to rush because now I got to the platform like 3 minutes before my train’s supposed to leave. But hopefully it will be less stressful from here, but I made it. Um, yeah, I ended up getting coffee in this Hawaiian coffee shop place, and I didn’t film any of it because it was very crowded and the music very loud. But anyway, in about three minutes, I’m off. [Music] Okay, hopefully I don’t look too much a hot mess, but I made it to the hotel. Um, I decided not to try to record anything at Soul Station because it was a mad house. There was so many people. Oh my god. Um, but I did make it to the hotel. I am staying at the or now I already forgot it. No, I think it’s like hotel tour hotel in Sean airport. I could have sworn I booked a twin room, but this room’s different. But I don’t care cuz it has a massively amazing looking chair that I want. And if I ask for the other room, I might lose the chair. So, I’m just going to probably keep this. But we’ll see. But I’ll give you a little room tour. Hold on. Let me flip this around. Okay. So, here’s the door. And when I did put my shoes on the floor, as you do, but when you walk in here, there is a huge sliding door for a closet with a little fire extinguisher. And then in the main open area, there’s another big closet space. I put my bag here already, but I got a shoe horn and some slippers and some robes that are entirely too small for me, I am sure. Uh, this looks like a drawer. What’s this? Just an empty drawer. Okay. And then we got a hot water kettle and some cups and wine glasses and some instant coffee and tea. It looks like this refrigerator looks actually really big for a refrigerator in a hotel. And it’s got a little freezer box even. Sweet. All right. And over on the right side is the bathroom. So, we got this very big mirror and it looks like Oh, it’s got a bet. Sweet. I love a bet. Um, let’s see. They got conditioner, shampoo, body wash, and like toothbrushes, soap, razor. Down there is a hair dryer. And then in traditional Korean style, it looks like the shower situation is a like at least there’s a glass partition, but for the most part, it looks like the shower situation is a spray the water everywhere kind of situation, which I’m used to, so it’s fine. And then you come into the main room. Look at all of this shelf space. Like, this is absurd, but I love it. And then we got a big bed here. It looks like maybe a queen size. A couple little nightstand tables. It looks like the nightstand tables both have a couple of plugs, but they’re old style plugs. Just like regular plugs, both of them. It’s got a desk back here, which I don’t know why, but they put this gigantic chair in front of the desk. Tell me this chair is not freaking amazing and stunning. I love it. It’s got a little ottoman, a table. I’m going to live for that chair, but I’m going to move it cuz I feel like they moved it to clean the room. They had to have right then. I haven’t checked the view yet. So, let’s see what we’re looking at. Oh my god, these curtains are gigantic. Oh, that is a view. Oh my god. Hold on. Let me get it open so you can really see it. Oh yeah, that’s crazy. Okay, let’s take a big look. I’m going to back way up. That’s a nice view. Very nice. Very nice. Very good. Very nice. Although those windows a little bit dirty, but you know what? We take what we can get. Got a nice lovely view of the L Mart, which I’ll probably go over there like in a little while cuz I’m bored. I ain’t got nothing to do here for hours and hours. Chanho probably won’t get here till like 10:00 p.m. So, I’ll probably head over there. Not right this second, but I’m going to take a rest here for a little bit. I’m tired. Travel exhausts me. So anyway, okay, I did resituate the chair, which I hope I don’t get in trouble for cuz I believe that there was something said in the thing about don’t move the furniture, but like who puts the chair in front of the desk where you can’t even use the desk. So anyway, this is how I have re situated the chair. I feel like it’s a better vibe. And I was correct. I do love the chair cuz oh my god. Yes. So nice. This chair is wonderful. I love this chair. And who doesn’t love an ottoman kind of situation? Like honestly, this chair is amazing. When Chong gets here, I’m not sharing the chair. I will fight him for the chair. That’s okay. I might give him a chance to try out the chair, maybe. Anyway, okay. So, here’s what’s going on. I took a nap. Um, I needed that nap. It was nice. Uh, then I got up and took a shower cuz travel’s exhausting. Um, oh, and I was right about the bathroom. Water everywhere. So, I might have to ask them for some extra towels cuz I had to use my body towel after I dry it off to dry the floor so I don’t soap my socks the next time I have to go use the bathroom. Um, and then what else? Oh, then I decided to go for a walk and try to figure out something for dinner. So, I just walked around. Um, decided not to take the camera with me because I just need fresh air and steps and decided to just grab some food from the convenience store, which I did. Um, and I’m about to eat that now. Actually, if you want to see, I’ll show you and give you price ideas of what stuff costs here. All right. So, I got two Coke Zeros. Actually, I got one and they were one plus one sale, so I got one free. Uh they’re about like 2,200 Korean one for one. So that’s probably about like a little less than $2 for one. Um then I got this which is an egg and tuna sandwich. No, they’re not together. They’re two separate sandwiches in the same container. It’s like egg salad and tuna salad. And then I got two of these prepackaged chicken breasts. Um, which if it wasn’t clear, um, cuz I didn’t really say anything before now, uh, I’ve lost a substantial amount of weight in the last probably like since maybe December, I don’t know. U, I’ve probably lost over 100 pounds mostly because of eating in a caloric deficit. So, hence why the stuff I got was like zerocalorie soda and high protein crap because I’m trying to stay within my calorie deficit on vacation. I know I’m going to fail miserably. I already know that. I already ate a cookie today. I’m still in my calorie deficit currently, but I did eat a cookie this morning with my coffee. It was lovely. But yeah, um, and that’s another thing. If I haven’t really like reached out and said hi to family and friends and stuff, it’s because I’m in a glow up transition era and I needed time for me to situate that. And it wasn’t really glow up necessarily. It was more like glow up my health because my body hurt all the time because of the chronic illness I have. And the doctor has always said if you drop weight, the less weight you are, the less painful it’ll be. And I know dropping weight is like intensely difficult for me, especially after having the disease where I’m in pain all the time. It’s hard. You can’t really go to the gym or anything. Um, but so far it’s worked out well and I’m feeling much better. But that’s why I’m eating the way I’m eating because I’m trying to stay in the stupid calorie deficit which will probably crash and burn over my time in Japan starting tomorrow. But we’ll see. I’m going to try. I swear I’m going to try. Um, so I think now I’m going to eat this food and then probably throw on something to watch. I don’t know what. Maybe Netflix, maybe YouTube, maybe Disney Plus, I don’t know. Anyway, I’m gonna eat this food and put on something to entertain myself until gets here. I almost forgot to mention that the sun is setting right now. And is that not so pretty? I don’t know if it really is showing up well on the camera, but it’s super pretty from here. Anyway, okay, Chonho is on his way now. He’s almost to the station. He’s about 3 or 4 minutes away. So, I’m going to walk down and meet him. All right, let’s go surprise him. There he is. Hello. You like it? You broke? Uhhuh. I brought it. Why not? Did you get anything to eat? No. Okay. Well, let’s go back and if you want, we can stop somewhere on the way. Is this way? You look like your travel’s so light compared to me. No, my Wait until you see the size of your bag versus the size of my bag. My bag looks stupid. Huge. And you didn’t even bring an actual carry-on. You just brought this like little bag. To be fair, I didn’t bring an actual carry-on either. I brought a book back, but still. I brought the city from. All right, Tono, I have a gift for you. Where did I put it? In this backpack somewhere, baby. Oh, thank you. I got you this one from the Cow Friend store. I didn’t bring this even though it’s not a Cacao friend. And I don’t know why they have this one, but here you go. Best seat type cable. Oh my god. is ghost cat. Yeah. Look, if you look under it has a different face. Isn’t it so stupid and cute? Okay, this is what he got me. By the way, I already knew cuz I’d seen it before. It’s a copy about a baby. I say baby cuz it says baby on the front of it. See, it’s so shady. It’s so freaking cute. That will go on my bag for tomorrow. Anyway, we were talking about how we’re a little bit scared for flight tomorrow, right? I’m scared because for some reason when I was checking stuff about flights on YouTube about Jedju Air and stuff and I was just trying to look at like what our experience might be like, all this stuff about that plane crash that Jeduare had back in December like started popping up. Freaked the out of me. And you didn’t know that news, sir? What news? They’re crashing. Well, I did back then, but like I it wasn’t something I was really thinking about when I booked this one. Was it cheaper, right? What do you mean? Cheaper than other. Well, yeah, it always is. It’s a budget airline, but we are going business light because we we can’t be that budget, right? We’re not budgety. Cha, what kind of seat did you have on the train today? What was your seat type train? KTX seat. Were you a standard seat? No, you’re not. What was your seat? First class. First class. You heard it here first cuz we don’t we can’t do budget. We’re too old and busted for budget. Okay, I think I’m done filming stuff for a little bit. I’m going to relax for a little bit. Morning. My hair looks a little crazy. Please ignore that. Um, so we’re getting ready to go. Changho, how’d you feel about the hotel? Hotel. I mean, he does like the chair like I do, right? This is 6.5. Oh, the the chair 6.5. No, what? 6.5. [Music] Oh, we’re rating things. Out of 10, I guess. Out of 10 or was that out of 100? Out of 10. I would give it out of 10. I’ll give it a five. Uh, and there’s a reason that it’s even that high, honestly, cuz there are some issues like the hallway smells cuz they have these uh what are they called? Diffusers all hanging up. And I don’t like the smell. The room smells weird and there’s like stains on the carpet and like weird little rust stains in the bathroom. The only reason it gets a five for me though is the bed far less firm and horrible than most beds in Korean hotels. And the chair the chair gets it points. Oh, and um this morning the I noticed the hair dryer is very good and most hotels have hair dryers and that one was really good. So that’s why it gets good score for me. Okay, we’re getting ready to go to the subway. to head to the airport super early because there’s some issue with my ticket and hopefully it gets solved. Anyway, see you later. Bye. We just had time in the Skyhub lounge and Chan was taking pictures of the Skyhub lounge. Chanha, how do you rate the lounge? Lounge seven. H. He’s wrong. I say uh actually I’ll say eight. Eight out of 10. It was comfortable, but could have been more comfortable, but food was actually much better than I thought. It was nice. All right, let’s go walk around and maybe go to the gate. So, we got like 25 minutes until boarding. I need to put like I need to get like I love Slovenian family. So cute. There’s so many Sylvanian things. Oh my god, that one’s so cute. So freaking cute. Oh, they unloading those luggage from that plank. go walk away and get I’ll be happy when we get on the plane. I think it’s this plane is up, but people are getting off that plane right now. So, I guess we’ll have to wait and find out. I’m so happy. I love a travel day. I can’t wait. They’re loading our stuff. I feel like our stuff is at the bottom of that p pile though cuz we were very early for checking. But that means our stuff will come out first. So it’s okay. And we’re the first ones getting on the plane. Yes, it is. Let’s go. Let’s go. Shut up. Stunnelina. Did you stop those? I did. So, Chan, yes. You still think that you’re correct and we should just book regular economy? Well, how do you feel right now? It’s not bad. I mean, look at this leg room. Like, honestly, I can stretch out. [Music] [Music] [Music] So, I didn’t record anything at the airport or while we were on the train coming, but we finally got to Zaboro and we are at Dormy in and Chanho is just cutting through the room cuz he’s a whirlwind of mess. SA and no this is not mean now you’re mean arranging orange he arranged so well yes so clean and beautiful I know that’s my this my brand on brand so we are going to go see look the they have outfits that actually fit me this time. And we’re going to go take hotring bath. Um, and then probably go find dinner or something. And maybe I will grab the camera. Maybe I won’t because this why I will never be a good vlogger cuz I’m lazy and I just record stuff when I feel like. And that’s okay cuz it’s my camera and my vlog. So, it doesn’t matter. All right. Anyway, bye. Okay. We just got back from Onen. Is nice. And they give you free ice cream when you’re finished. So I got this one and this one and this one cuz I think you’re meant to take one, but I took three because fight me in the street. Which one did you get, Chan? Huh? Blue one. Oh, wait. That’s even better. I like grape better like crumbly ice. No, it’s like more like or living like white or pre cuz it’s a video log of what a person does. That’s why it’s called a vlog. You didn’t know that? What do you think it meant? I don’t know. That’s like a they call blo something space. So you have like some This one’s so weird. I wonder if it’ll show up on the camera. No, it’s cuz I think most people most people check in and then they go have dinner and then they come back and then they take a bath before they go to bed. Whereas I’m the type, especially on a travel day where I want to go directly here, take a bath, feel comfortable, get dressed, go have dinner, and then depending on my mood or how tired I am, I may or may not come back and take another bath. At least I could because you have to make your money worth which is why I’m eating three ice creams cuz this room is not the cheapest room. It’s not super expensive but there’s definitely cheaper options. [Music] That one’s nice. Nates weight loss out the window in Japan. At least when there free ice cream involved. Oh no, I got ice cream on the pajamas. I I donkey over there. Yeah, there’s donkey up there like right near here. I bring mega donkey. But I could It became too yellow. Too yellow. I’ve seen pictures. It was not that great. Uh I didn’t pay a lot. But you know, you paid a lot for that. I just assumed you did it from a box. Maybe $160 or Oh, you should got your money back. You were so orange. So, we’re heading back to the shopping street near our hotel. Or maybe we’ll do shopping. It’s freaking cute. Oh my god. Oh, they have Baku. They never have Baku. We just spent 3,000 yen on random bag of crap. Oh, this is this is dangerous. This country is dangerous. I’ll buy I’ll buy so much random crap for no reason. Yeah. It’s always the random crap for no reason filling the bag or the basket. What is it? You want to keep walking or go back to the hotel? Hi, this is Tra. Okay. Apparently, he’s tired of carrying the bag that we’ve had for all of three minutes. And so, he’s like, “We got to put it back.” I feel like we’re going to go inside, sit down, and be like, “Too tired.” And then go go to bed. You say that, but I’m like, “You going to be too tired. You got to lay down.” Chung’s so hot. He’s like, “It’s so hot.” It’s not that hot, but we’re going to go to the laundry machine cuz he washed his bag and forgot it was in there. Let’s hope it’s not stolen cuz it’s cute, right? [Music] I also named Ice Pillow cuz ice pillow reasons. All right, so he says we’re going to go back out again. We’re not going to go back out again. Let’s be so for real about it. maybe. So, let’s see what we got today. All right. I think Trunk got these for his niece. It’s like origami paper that is um Kirby Kirby origami paper. And then I got this one. It’s like a kitty that keeps away mosquitoes. And then Chungho got this cat foldable fan for him. Yeah, he’s not joking. I bought these which are like cold patches. you put on your head and it makes your head feel cold. It’s lovely. Then Changho got some or a cute kitty food towel for him, not for other people, It’s true. Don’t play. Maybe. And then I got these socks that are made for ladies that I will destroy in 5 minutes, but I don’t care. They’re cute. It’s like a the It’s a foldable fan. I know. I love it. Let’s see. Changho got these cute cat sticky notes, which he never uses, but he had to buy cuz they were so damn cute. Yeah. And he got this cute chromi baku acre figure, which is cute. Is that for you? Oh, oh my god. I I just like th I bought of course the necessary melon bread. It’s always necessary. And Changho got some Hokkaido milk. Yeah, I really want because we’re in Hokkaido. Yeah, and then Changho got this green tea and I got this green tea. And then I got two of these which I like to call lovingly poop coke because it is it is Coca-Cola Zero with added fiber in it or a laxative to make you poop. And if you know anything about eating in Japan, it’s a very carb focus kind of and very meaty and carbby and not very fibery. So, I always when I come here usually buy like two poop Cokes and I got this green tea. I bought lots of green tea. Did you buy a lot of green tea, too? One. I bought lots cuz I like green tea. Oh, and I guess you got one of these for you, too. Okay. For you. Okay. And then this is What is this? Oh, I think Chunko got him like a Is this like a pudding? Chunko got him a Hokkaido milk pudding. And I think that’s it. That’s it. So, I think we’re going to chill for now cuz I’m tired. Okay. I know I said I was probably done, but I have to mention that the patch is amazing and wonderful and and so is the cold pillow on my lower back and so is this belly bread and I living my best life. What was your highlight of the day? Highlight your favorite part of the day? The chicken from like chicken super place and some stuff. I bought now highlight means you get one pickle your favorite thing of the day. Say comeat and buy some cheap 100 stop. Oh yeah. One like something buying cute things is the highlight of the day. This this He does like cute He He enjoys some cute I think I like that fan. That fan is adorable. Something I buy something relable to cat things. Yeah, I do really like cat. He does love cats. I cat anything like a cat boots. I can Yeah, it’s true. If he sees something with cats, he like has to have it. All right, so that was your highlight of the day. My high holiday of the day sounds weird, but it was probably um enjoying my mediocre airplane meal and watching Cinderella on my iPad on the flight and having all that leg room and not feeling uncomfortable. And you say one. No, that is the situation though. That was the situation that like made me the happiest. And the best part about it, and this is weird for some people probably, but not needing a seat belt extender because the last time I flew I needed a seat belt extender. And um but also it was just like being comfortable in the seat, having lots of leg room, and like not feeling miserable on a flight was like lovely. You’re the my highlight of day is like that screaming princess at station. I can’t I can forget this screaming like princess sitting like chair and then she had had it. So I she was over it really. She know how to get in. She know how to get like a It’s true. She she know she’s smart to evil. Anyway, that’s going to be it for tonight. Okay, peace out. Bye. [Music]
