Tokyo Local Arcades You should Visit! #travel #japanesefood

four different kinds of local arcade you should visit when you visit in Tokyo. First one is the Ayoko Street in Ueno station. This is one of the most popular arcade in Japan. However, there are many tourists over there, so it’s not really a local arcade. Next one is the Yanakinsa arcade located at Nepali station. It is a nice ki arcade. It looks like a local arcade, but from my local opinion, it’s more like a touristic spot. However, once you get out from the arcade, there are many nature places and a nice shrine as well. So, if you visit Nepoi station, don’t forget to visit this Yanaga arcade too. And the next one, it’s Sugamo Station’s Jizoi Arcade. Compared to the other arcade, this Sugamodi arcade is not as popular for the international travelers, but it’s very popular for local. This Sugama arcade is known for the Grand Harajuku. There are many Japanese traditional snacks and sweets. If you are interested in the traditional Japanese sweets, maybe you can visit here. And lastly, Shimoku Ginsa Arcade at Kumagome Station. This is a real local arcade. Usually, there are not that many people walking in the street. And even that busy season, it’s quiet atmosphere. The arcade atmosphere, it is not as lively as compared to the other arcade. But this is a true local arcade. Would you prefer the real local arcade or a touristy arcade?

  2. I grew up in South East Asia and when I visited ใ‚ขใƒกๆจช in March 2025 it felt a little like shopping in the streets of Malaysia and Singapore. It's an eclectic mix of shops selling fresh seafood, cheap clothing and other handicrafts, but most notable were the huge tourist crowds and the outdoor restaurant seating. But I can tell its touristy because there are gachapon machines set up.. Somehow the gaijin tourists love collecting them in large quantities ๐Ÿ˜‚
I do hope that some places stay the way they are and not become as chaotic, it's nice to walk in a peaceful neighbourhood and experience the sensory overload you'd see in touristy spots.

  3. If i see something to buy at Ameyoko or Yanaka Ginza, should i buy it somewhere else to save money?
Or, are the Arcades cheaper than other places?

  4. I prefer less crowded arcade. But it also depends what the shops are selling and what food the restaurants are offering. Anyway, I like your meringue pie, Rion!๐Ÿ˜‹
