On the 28th, medical AI startup Cubec announced that it has raised ¥15 million through a third-party allotment of new shares to Kyoto Capital Partners (KCAP Venture No. 1 Investment Business Limited Partnership). This brings the total amount raised in this series to ¥95 million, with total funding, including grants, reaching ¥245 million.

Cubec offers a clinical knowledge AI application called “Cubec,” a mobile app that provides physicians with evidence-based information from the latest research papers in response to queries during consultations. It is used for verifying examination and treatment policies during consultations and for evidence searches post-consultation, with some physicians reportedly opening the app more than five days a week.

The app is characterized by its integration of physicians’ thought processes and clinical judgments as unique learning data, combining evidence-based information with generative AI. By the end of September 2025, Cubec plans to add practical medical information to its database and release a version capable of addressing a broader range of questions.

The newly raised funds will be allocated to product enhancement and database expansion, further promoting knowledge sharing and operational efficiency. Additionally, Cubec plans to recruit lead engineers and data scientists to expand its development framework for healthcare-focused LLMs.

In August 2024, Cubec was recognized as the fourth venture from the National Cerebral and Cardiovascular Center, and in June 2025, it relocated its headquarters to the center. Since its founding in February 2023, Cubec has been accelerating the development of AI used in medical settings.
