Naomi Osaka vs Amanda Anisimova US Open semifinal match preview.

Following today’s semifinal clash between Aryna Sabalenka & Jessica Pegula, four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka will collide with Amanda Anisimova on Arthur Ashe Stadium Court.

Throughout this tournament, both women have continued to impress, with Osaka into her first semifinal since 2021, and Anisimova fresh off a straight-set win over Iga Swiatek, whom she was double-bageled by in the Wimbledon final earlier this summer.

Throughout her previous five matches in Flushing Meadows, Osaka has dropped just one set, while upsetting higher-seeded players like Daria Kasatkina, Coco Gauff, and most recently, Karolina Muchova.

With an undefeated record in slams once she makes it to the quarterfinals, could this be the tournament where Osaka is able to capture an elusive fifth Grand Slam title?

Standing in her way, of course, will be Amanda Anisimova, who has dropped just one set throughout her five previous matches at the 2025 US Open.

After an impressive run at Wimbledon that saw her reach the final, Anisimova lost in the fourth round of the National Bank Open, and the third round of the Cincinnati Open.  Despite that, since touching down in Flushing Meadows, the American standout has been playing some of her best tennis of the season.

With a dominant win over Iga Swiatek in the quarterfinals, Anisimova became the first American woman to reach a Grand Slam semifinal on all three surfaces since the Williams sisters in 2002.

Osaka vs. Anisimova H2H

Heading into tonight’s match, Amanda Anisimova holds a 2-0 lead over Naomi Osaka in the head-to-head.

During the 2022 season, Anisimova was able to pick up wins over Osaka in the Round of 32 at the Australian Open, as well as the opening round of the French Open.

As Osaka explained to members of the press following her quarterfinal win over Muchova on Wednesday, her semifinal match with Anisimova is likely to be quote, “really tough.”

“For me, she’s always been one of the most talented players on your. I think no one wants to see her name next to their, especially with what she would potentially do. I think she’s one of the players where you don’t know like where she’s going to hit the ball kind of thing. … I think the match is going to be really tough tomorrow.”
