OSAKA & NARA | Exploring Japan Cinematic Series
In this new series, we’ll travel to Asia. What a crazy trip to eight unforgettable destinations. This place is truly mind-blowing. Join me as we explore these places for the first time. Korea, Japan, the Maldives , and Fiji. Their culture. Speechless, their people, and much, much more. Are you ready? Ladies and gentlemen, we’ve arrived in Japan. For the next two weeks, we’ll be traveling around the country, and today we begin with our first stop on this tour: Osaka. Today we’re going to a super cool temple, and it’s the perfect day to try Seven Eleven ‘s famous egg sandwich for the first time. The last leg is toward Saca Temple. We take the subway for an hour and this bus stop for 20 minutes. Super easy, and it’s pretty well signposted. Next stop, and here we are at Katsuoji Temple, a place in the mountains outside Osaka. People associate this temple with victory and faith. There’s a super special ritual that people do with these little dolls, called Daruma Dolls. You fill in the back of the doll something you want to happen, an immediate goal, and then, at the bottom, a long-term goal you want to be fulfilled. And after you do this, you write this goal on the back, at the bottom, you light some incense sticks and bathe the doll in these incense sticks, sort of blessing it. And once you do that, you fill in one of the little eyes you see here. That means you’re committing to this goal, to what you want to happen. Once this goal is fulfilled, you fill in the other eye. Everyone behind us is filling it in. Highly recommended. If you come to Osaka, come to Kasuoi Temple; you won’t regret it. We finished our souvenir from Katsuoji Temple. Terrific for good luck. And with that, we closed out our visit to Katsuo-ji Temple. Not only is the place incredible, but the rituals and the souvenirs you take home are also spectacular. 100% recommended. Now back to Osaka to eat. Bunny. Bad Bunny. Well, we just had our first dinner here in Japan, and it was truly incredible. It was so good that I didn’t even take the time to record anything. Oas go no, that’s not even the name, so you can see the incredible service. This restaurant is truly five stars, the service is incredible. The sushi is even better. And well, now we continue our night exploring Osaka. First day in Japan. Osi. Oi. Well, our day in Osaka has been incredible. It’s already nighttime after walking around and exploring Don Tombury, Don Tomburin (I think that’s what it’s called), and Osaka Castle. We’re currently at a super good ramen restaurant that someone recommended to us, and it’s super cool. It’s a little house in the middle of the city. It seems like it’s frozen in time. Well, we’re really excited to try Japanese ramen for the first time. At these tables in Japan, people sit opposite each other, and we met some super friendly Japanese people. They recommended a dish we hadn’t ordered: tempura, and it looks incredible. Let’s try it. Looks amazing. Taste better. Well, we finally arrived in Nara after about an hour from Osaka. The road over there was really, really easy. And here we are behind me in Nara Park, the famous park with all the deer waving at you to get some food. Super funny. Look, right here behind me is a little deer. They’re really used to people, but the day is so spectacular and we have so little time that we really don’t know what to do with so many options. We’re going to go quickly to a temple that looks incredible, and from there we’ll try to see if we can catch the sunset here where all the deer are. So far, so cool and very interesting. Nara. We’ve only been in Nara for two or three hours, and so far it’s been truly incredible. We just left a temple called Tōdai-ji, and I honestly think it’s been my favorite temple so far. I was speechless. I would have stayed there for another three hours, but we had to leave because they closed. Inside this temple, there are three or four Buddhas, some really impressive statues, enormous. Go Tōdai-ji Temple. Wow. Uh. Sunset. We’re going to eat now. What are we going to eat? Teppanyaki. First time eating Teppanyaki in Japan straight from the source. Teppanyaki. Wow, what an incredible dinner. This restaurant is called Nagomi. We booked it last minute. They didn’t have any availability on the website until June. They called and someone had canceled. We were incredibly lucky. They saw the place is incredible. The food is even better. Well, and with that, we close out a super special day, the first day here in Nara. Tomorrow we’ll be here in the morning and then continue to Kyoto. But anyway, if you come, you have to order the Yamagata wagyu, which we supposedly didn’t know about. They’re telling us it’s one of the best types of wagyu in all of Japan. 10 out of 10. It was like butter. See you tomorrow. Good morning. Our second day here in Nara begins. We started very early today. We stood up at dawn to catch the park completely empty, and it was a very good decision that I 100% recommend. If you come to Nara, go to the park in the morning because there are no people, it’s literally completely empty, and you have all the deer to yourself, and besides, they’re very hungry, so they approach you very easily and you don’t have to compete with the thousands of people there afterward. Like, literally three hours later there were thousands of people, so it’s recommended. The thing is, you had to buy cookies the day before and take them with you because none of the places that sell cookies at that time are open, so another tip. And then we went to this temple called—what’s the name of the temple? I was about to forget—Kasuga Taisha. Kasuga Taisha. Kasuga Taisha Shrine. There were a lot of people, but it’s still super beautiful. They have tons of lanterns that they don’t light up; they only light them up three times a year, but it’s still worth going. Try to go very early in the morning or almost when they’re closing so there are fewer people because it makes the experience much better. Right now we’re at a TonKatsu place where we’re going to have lunch and then continue on to our next destination: Kyoto. Walking through the city of Kyoto. Awesome. Hello. And look who decided to come out to treat us to this view.
Seguimos nuestro tour por Asia. Segunda parada: Japon! Acompáñenme a descubrir la energía de Osaka y Nara por primera vez, todo a través de mi cámara.
