Fuji City Walk: Redevelopment Around Fuji Station and Weekend Atmosphere
In search of a summer getaway not too far from the Tokyo metropolitan area, I decided to head for Nagano Prefecture. My route took me north through Shizuoka and Yamanashi before reaching Nagano.
From Numazu, I moved on to Fuji City. I was surprised to see that the area in front of Fuji Station is undergoing major redevelopment. The streets used to have a slightly shady but interesting character, so it feels a little disappointing to see that change. Still, the renewal is scheduled to be completed in about five years, and I look forward to seeing how it turns out.
Since I visited on a Saturday, there were quite a few groups of friends out enjoying a night of drinking, giving the area a lively weekend atmosphere.
