La Galerie du 19M Tokyo opens its doors this autumn, offering visitors a rare opportunity to step into a universe where French haute couture craftsmanship meets Japanese artistry. Curated into three compelling chapters, the exhibition space invites audiences to immerse themselves in the unparalleled savoir-faire of the Maisons d’art of le19M and their Japanese collaborators.
At the heart of this cultural exchange is the belief that luxury craftsmanship transcends borders, generations, and techniques, creating new dialogues and expanding the horizons of contemporary creativity.
The Three Chapters of La Galerie du 19M Tokyo
Le Festival: A showcase of the exceptional savoir-faire of le19M’s Maisons d’art, demonstrating their artistry in embroidery, pleating, featherwork, goldsmithing, and beyond.
Beyond Our Horizons: A landmark exhibition featuring over 30 artisans and artists from France and Japan. Here, the 11 Maisons d’art of le19M collaborate with Japanese ateliers to produce works that bridge tradition and innovation. These creations stand as both homage and innovation—rooted in heritage, yet reaching toward the future.
Lesage. 100 Years of Fashion and Decoration: Marking the centenary of the legendary House of Lesage, renowned for embroidery and tweed-making, this retrospective unveils archival treasures alongside contemporary pieces, celebrating the enduring impact of Lesage on haute couture.
A Creative Village in the Sky
Set within six exhibition spaces inspired by the concept of a “Creative Village,” La Galerie du 19M Tokyo embodies an atmosphere of dialogue and discovery. Among them, Le Rendez-vous stands as a symbolic communal hub, designed by sukiya master carpenters in collaboration with le19M artisans.
Framed against the panoramic Tokyo skyline, visitors are immersed in a multisensory journey where traditional craftsmanship meets contemporary sound design through an exclusive audio installation created for the exhibition.
