If you visit Japan in OCTOBER, don’t skip this 🎃| halloween events 2025

Hi everyone, my name is Martina and today let’s
talk about Halloween and October in Japan. [Music] I really wanted to experience Halloween
and all of the events while being in Japan. So, I did this in 2023 and 2024. and I’m here to share
my experiences with you so I can recommend what’s a good idea, what’s not such a good idea, and
hopefully I can help you have an amazing trip to Japan during that time. Let’s start with
Halloween itself. If the 31st is on a weekday, they usually celebrate Halloween the weekend
before. So, for example, on the 28th or 29th instead. But as you might have heard already, all
of the public events are kind of limited. Like, you can’t drink any drinks like alcohol there. you
have to move around. There’s police everywhere. So, it’s not as fun as it used to be as
the government is a bit worried that things will go crazy and you know, things like that
happened or that anything bad will happen. So, they limit it a lot, which is a bit sad to be
honest. Yeah. Just so you know, Shibuya is kind of very stressful. It’s still worth going to just see
it. You have to keep on moving. You can’t stand on the place. You can’t take pictures that well
like there’s just police everywhere. And in 2023, we went to Shinjuku instead. and there was like a
giant party going on. There’s like this big open area. Everyone was dressed up and having a good
time. It was honestly so so much fun. I would recommend this, but I heard that in 2024 they
also prohibited like going there. So honestly, I would recommend you to just look for events
around the time maybe there’s something nice or just go into a club. For example, I think Womb
always does a Halloween party, but what we did is we booked a reservation at the incubator bar
in Shinjuku, and it is such an amazing bar. Like, everything is themed around science. You think
that you’re in a lab. They have microscopes. Like, the glasses look like they’re out of a lab. The
people working there, they have lab coats on. It’s really such a cool experience. They had like
lab themed drinks. Like, you could taste different water. They had cocktails that they would do in
front of you with like science stuff like I don’t know the words in English and it was really really
cool. I can also recommend you to check out other themed cafes like there’s the Alice in Wonderland
cafe, there’s the vampire themed cafe. They have so many things and I would recommend you like just
book a reservation there and then in the evening maybe look if there is a club that has something
nice to do and if you’re in Osaka during the time I recommend you to go to America American
inspired part in Osaka because I heard they’re not as strict as there and you can have a really
amazing Halloween party there. So consider that as well. One of the events that I’m recommending is
also in Kyoto so maybe you can combine that. Let’s start with the two events that are in Tokyo. to
the Yokai Bonodori in Tachikawa, which is such an amazing event. I honestly didn’t expect too much
when we wanted to go there, but it ended up being such a nice event. They decorate everything with
red lanterns all over. People are dressing up as Yo-kai. Like, if you want to, you can also put on
a costume, but they also sell masks there if you don’t have anything. Like, they have different
food stalls or stalls with like decoration or jewelry all around the theme of Yokai. You can
play mini games. It’s like a perfect autumn Halloween festival. If you’ve never been to like
a traditional Japanese festival, I can really recommend this. Talking about festivals, they also
of course have dance floors. There is one free one where they played like a lot of city pop. It was
such a vibe. It was honestly we had such a good time. And then there is a second dance floor, but
to go there, you have to pay an entrance fee of 1,500 yen. So, we didn’t do it, but I would say
it’s still worth it because they had a few really cool shows. In general, I also say like just the
free event where you don’t have to pay anything is already really worth coming there. Like they
have a lot of stuff that you can do this year. It takes place on October 11th to October 13th. So, I
would really recommend you to go there. I will put the link in the bio. If you’re in the area, feel
free to check it out because it is so unique. It is so cool and we had such a good time there. The
second one is the Bakano Parade in Kagura Zaka, which is in Tokyo as well. And the district itself
is already really cool and worth visiting. But on this special day, which will be October 12th this
year, really honestly worth it to go there because they have a parade with people who are dressing
up as bakanikos, like demon cats. And everyone can participate as well. If you want to participate,
you just have to dress up as a cat. Like even if it’s just cat ears, but I would honestly say like
put in some effort because it’s so worth it. Just a little side note, you have to pay 500 yen as
a participation fee if you want to do it. If you just want to go there and watch the parade, you
don’t have to pay anything, so you’re fine. They have like a three or four parades on this day. We
went there kind of in the afternoon and we managed to watch two of them and they were really cool.
There were playing live music, walking around in the costumes. I also have a dedicated video about
this event. So, I’m going to link it here if you want to go there. It is really worth it. It’s so
fun. And everyone was so creative. Everyone was having really cool costumes and putting a lot
of effort into them. It was just a big party. I really love that so so much. My favorite event,
we’re just not in Tokyo, but in Kyoto instead. And we honestly we changed our whole schedule just to
make it to this event because we didn’t know if it would take place in 2024, but it did. And they’re
going to keep it for 2025 as well is the Yo-kai Parade in Kyoto. And it used to be in a smaller
area of Kyoto, but they moved it to the Tolli Animation Park. Just a big film park. There is a
giant Eva standing there. There’s a ghost house. They have a lot of attractions there. They have
some anime themed stuff as well. So, it’s a really cool place. This event starts on September 13th
and goes until the end of November. So, this is a really long time where you can go there. And the
parades are on the weekends. I’m also going to put the link in the description again so you can check
it out if you can make it work with your schedule. The parade is so cool. So many people dressing up
and looking amazing, looking like Yokai as well. And then at the end of the parade, they’re doing
a dance. So what we did is we went there early. We watched one parade first, like just standing
somewhere. And then for the second parade, we went there like early and got the seating
space and just waited until it started. Like it was amazing. They were dancing. They were having
a good time. I loved seeing all of the costumes. It was like scary as well because some of them
were so wellmade. I would also like as a little side note maybe don’t take kids there with you
like especially like small kids because I heard a lot of kids like screaming and being scared. So,
and also you have to know that you have to pay the entrance fee of 2,800 yen which also includes all
of the other attractions in the park. If you’re already there, you can also do the other stuff.
I have to say there’s a lot to do, so they will be over super fast. One of the coolest Halloween
events I’ve been to and of course you can dress up as well. It was just amazing. If you enjoyed this
video, please consider to subscribe or comment or leave a like. I would really appreciate it if
I could help you out. And yeah, enjoy October in Japan. It is such an amazing month to be there.
And if you have any questions, feel free to write them in the comments. Thank you so so much
for watching and see you next time. Bye-bye.
