Glamping in Japan with a Bamboo Grove and Free-Roaming Animals | THE BAMBOO FOREST
Hi, we’re heading to Takataki Station in Chiba Prefecture, about two hours from Tokyo. We transferred at Goi Station and are now on the local Kominato Railway. It has AC and fans, but they don’t really work. And it shakes quite a lot. This train feels so nostalgic. It really captures the charm of the Japanese countryside. Rice fields line the tracks, and the peaceful scenery is so relaxing. Today we’re staying at a glamping site in this peaceful countryside, surrounded by animals and bamboo. The red train car is so cute. They don’t always use this red train car, so it was a nice surprise to see it today. We’ve arrived at Takataki Station. It’s an unmanned station. The wooden station building was built in 1925 and is a registered cultural property. From the station, we’re taking a car to the accommodation. There’s no taxi service, so you need to reserve the free shuttle in advance. The ride takes about five minutes. There’s also a free shuttle from Ichihara-Tsurumai Bus Terminal. So you can also come by highway bus from Tokyo, not just by train. The glamping site is next to a zoo. We’re entering through the zoo’s parking lot. And we’ve arrived. Just like the name says, it’s a glamping site surrounded by bamboo. It is known for its breakfast with giraffes. I’m curious to see how it’ll be. It’s not check-in time yet. We’re heading to reception to drop off our luggage. Through a green tunnel, you’ll see the reception building. It also operates as a café from 11 AM to 3 PM. There are free drinks for guests. Slippers and toys are free to use. Each glamping guest gets one free ticket to the zoo, “Animal Wonder Resort Sayuri World.” So first, we’ll head into the zoo. The zoo entrance is right next door. We just spotted a rabbit and a giraffe. OMG, there are crocodiles and koi fish living together. Oh, so this is the entrance gate. We hadn’t entered the zoo yet. A small gift shop. Lots of cute animal plushies. They also sell snacks and small items like cups. Once you exit, you can’t reenter with the same ticket. So we’ll take our time and enjoy everything. By the way, if you buy a regular ticket, it’s 1,500 yen for adults. After listening to the zoo rules, we’re heading into Sayuri World. This zoo opened in 2011. What’s special here is that the animals roam freely. Zoos like this are rare in Japan, possibly due to different safety standards and regulations. Guinea fow: Fancy meat. Llamas: Will spit when annoyed. Rabbits: Dangerously cute. About 30 species live together here, and people can walk through their shared space. It’s not a big place, so you can see everything quickly without getting lost. Maybe because it’s a weekday, there are hardly any other guests here. Being surrounded by animals and nature makes you forget all about the city. Now we’ve arrived at Giraffe Terrace, all the way at the far end. Giraffe! Wow! Hello! The second floor has a rest area where you can see the giraffes. And it’s also where breakfast will be served tomorrow. They’re so close. There’s one over there too. This is the only place in the zoo that sells food and drinks. Pizza toast: 400 yen. It tastes like home. Just a good, simple pizza toast. You can also buy snacks for the animals here for 500 yen. I want to get a closer look at Hatch-kun, the biggest one. Not in the mood for carrots? A giraffe’s tongue can be up to 50 cm long. They curl it around the food, which is fun but also a little scary. A kind staff member called Hatch-kun over for us. He’s huge! Maybe the biggest giraffe in Japan. He’s seriously big. I’ve never seen a giraffe this close before. He eats so much. You can’t feed giraffes at many zoos in Japan. That’s what makes this place special. You can also feed giraffes from ground level. Let’s try that too. Hey! We brought you a snack! Over here! They came over! Wow, so powerful. So cool. You can give the same snacks to animals other than birds. This kangaroo eats carrots so delicately, it’s surprising. Aww, a fluffy little one is coming over! This bunny looks just like a panda. Tiny and super cute. When you have snacks, everyone comes over, so you end up buying more. The kangaroos, in particular, are really into snacks. They’ll chase you in a group, but they always stop right before reaching you. Fighting over the carrots. Let’s sneak away while we can. They say if a llama has its ears back, it’s in a bad mood. Looks like this one’s feeling good today. Huh? The “World’s Most Dangerous Animal: Humans” cage. If humans want to drink something, they have to quietly enter this cage. They’re watching us from outside. Some of the animals live in enclosures. Uh-oh, looks like it’s thinking about making a run for it. What should I do? Living here are… Ring-tailed lemurs: strong body odor. These guys will jump on you any chance they get. They especially love backpacks. Easy to climb, I guess. They don’t mind being touched much. So fluffy. Ring-tailed lemurs can jump up to 3 or 4 meters. They’re actually pretty heavy. By the end, they even jumped on me without a backpack. Just be ready to get muddy if you play with ring-tailed lemurs. Even if they get you all dirty, they’re still adorable. It’s about time to check in, so let’s leave the zoo and head to the hotel. A lot of people probably don’t know there’s such a cute glamping site next to the zoo. There are six units in total, with three room types. We’re staying in one of the dome tents. We’ve checked in. Let’s head to the room. With the reception in front, head to the back left… And you’ll enter a bamboo-filled world. It suddenly feels calm and quiet. This is ‘Kirin-an,’ a one-of-a-kind treehouse. It feels like a secret hideout. There’s something magical about bamboo. The filtered sunlight feels great, and just walking here is calming. Each unit is named after an animal. Ours is called ELEPHANT. It’s pretty big. The deep green tent blends nicely into the bamboo grove. Rates start at 22,650 yen (153.41 USD / € 130.60) per person with dinner and breakfast included. Ooh, it’s cool and comfortable inside. There are four beds. It has AC, an air purifier, power outlets, and Wi-Fi. The walls and ceiling are well-insulated, and there are no gaps. The windows are vinyl with curtains. This is the strongest and most stylish tent we’ve stayed in. I love it. Drinks in the fridge are complimentary. There are also free drinks available at reception, so don’t worry. Vintage-style light and shelves. Coffee and room-temperature water. What’s this? It’s a power bank. They even provide bug spray, which is great since we’re surrounded by nature. I’ve already been bitten. This room is nice, it doesn’t even feel like glamping. The toilet and shower are in a separate building. Let’s go check them out. It’s a gentle slope, not too steep, and not far at all. Here it is. The toilet is in the back. It was clean. Each room has a private shower. No need to share with others. It’s pretty spacious, with a sink and mirror. They provide all the basic amenities like skincare and toothbrushes. Hair dryer. Face towel. Bath towel. After playing with the animals, we’re totally covered in mud. We’re taking an early shower today. In the evening, it’s lit up a bit, creating a magical vibe. “Eat lots of good food.” “Eat well and stay healthy with those you love.” Sayuri World closed at 4:30 PM today. But in the evening, cats start to appear around the glamping area. Here are the two resident cats. They wander around freely, and we were lucky to run into them. By the way, pets are not allowed here. One of them was a bit aloof, but still let me pet them. So cute. Only six groups can stay here at once, so it’s very quiet. You can hear the sounds of nature and animals. We’re starving. Dinner is served near the reception building. There’s an indoor dining area, but the weather is good, so we chose to sit outside. It’s a BBQ-style meal, but they first bring out some pre-made dishes. Ajillo with baguette. Spare ribs. Sea bream carpaccio. Caesar salad. You can grab cold drinks by yourself from the station next to reception. They’re available even outside dinner time. When it got dark, they lit a small fire near our table. Let’s eat. I love ajillo. The ingredients are chunky and tasty. The Caesar salad is big and filling. There’s a soft-boiled egg on top and crispy noodles underneath. It’s got volume. If it’s not enough, you can order extras, but so far it seems like plenty. The minestrone is kept in a thermos, so it stays warm the whole time. Everything tastes great. The atmosphere is nice too. The meat is tender and delicious. It’s nice to enjoy a full meal outdoors without having to prep anything ourselves. Let’s get started on the BBQ too. This is Kazusa Wagyu Beef, a local brand from Chiba. Oops, the meat stuck to the grill. We’ve used this kind of grill at a few hotels, but we still haven’t mastered it. We also have seasonal vegetables, so let’s grill those too. Eggplant. A true summer veggie. Looks perfectly grilled. Let’s dig in. The meat is tender and there are plenty of sauces and spices to choose from. It’s time for dessert. It’s a sweet pizza with a crispy crust. Here goes the vanilla ice cream on top. The hot pizza melts the ice cream. I haven’t even taken a bite, and it already tastes amazing. The pizza has cinnamon and apple. Of course it goes perfectly with vanilla ice cream. We finished it in no time. That was delicious. Arigatou. Oh, we meet again. Such a good cat. Didn’t beg for human food at all. Looking up, the sky is full of stars. Way more than you’d ever see in the city. Here’s what the guest area looks like at night. Just a few lights create a magical atmosphere. This video was filmed in mid-June. We were lucky with the weather—no rain, and it was comfortable enough to stay outside. We’ll change into the gowns provided in the room and go to bed after brushing our teeth. Good night. Good morning. I woke up to the sounds of birds—or maybe other animals. We added the “Breakfast with Giraffes” option (3,000 yen per person). We checked out before breakfast. Now we’re having breakfast at the Giraffe Terrace inside Sayuri World. Good morning, giraffes. Breakfast is a picnic-style meal. It comes with a shake-to-mix salad. There’s a Caprese-style dish. A bit salty. There are four kinds of bread. I like cheese bread. Sayuri World opens at 9:30 AM. This breakfast option gives guests private access beforehand. Breakfast with Giraffes is only available from spring to fall, so keep that in mind. After you finish your meal, you get one giraffe snack for free. They’re looking this way. Adorable. Want a snack? Still not used to the giraffe’s tongue. Honestly, it’s a little scary. The one on the left is especially greedy. Even if you feed another one, he steals it. Haha. After breakfast, you can continue exploring the zoo. The kangaroos are already active this morning. More and more animals start making noise as it gets livelier. Deer chewing ASMR. The kangaroo’s back. Sorry, no more snacks. What do you want? Capybaras seem to love being petted. I didn’t expect that. They’re funny and adorable. Their fur feels like a scrubbing brush. The animals living here seem to get along really well with each other too. Suddenly, it feels like they’re in their own little world. Look at its face—so relaxed. Capybaras and kangaroos live in different regions, so they don’t meet in the wild. We got to see a peacock spread its feathers! So beautiful. That’s a courtship dance, usually seen from March to July. Wait, is he doing it for me? You’re a little too close. A bunny came! So cute, so cute, so cute. Eat as much as you want. Huh? This was a unique and unforgettable experience we could only have here. The glamping was much comfier than we expected, even with all the nature and animals. Thank you so much for watching until the end. See you next time.

That looked lovely, and of course, the kangaroos were adorable 😍. At least they were the little grey ones, not the big reds; they can be dangerous. The bunnies were cute🙂. Take care, from Australia 🙂.
Lovely. I actually don't like zoos because of the metal, concrete and small cages. I think they should be natural and habitats like they have in the wild.
Superbe endroit et superbe expérience des animaux partout en liberté avec qui on peut interragir ❤❤un vrai kif vidéo vraiment magnifique validé totalement

So, you don't feel badly that these animals are confined in prisons all for YOUR enjoyment????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate humans.
Where's the 2 stuffed bunnies? :c
I’d love to stay here. Thank you 🙂
Wow the glamping area reminded me of the place where Luke Skywalker trains Grogu on The Mandalorian show😄 the train and ride was right of an anime 🥰 very nice, what a blessing to travel to such a place.
