Is it hard to get back from vacation? But don’t worry, an easterly breeze is blowing through Toulouse this weekend, and it’s time to get away from it all. On September 6 and 7, 2025, Tokyo Market Toulouse (formerly Japan Touch) transforms the Compans-Caffarelli Japanese garden into a Miyazaki movie. Nearly forty designers, traditional workshops and shows invite you to immerse yourself in the culture of the Land of the Rising Sun. This not-to-be-missed event is for all those who want to travel to Japan… without taking a plane.
Tokyo Market Toulouse: a designer village in the heart of the Japanese Garden
If you’re a fan of Japanese fashion, design or handicrafts, you won’t want to miss Tokyo Market Toulouse. The Jardin Japonais, usually a haven of peace, becomes the setting for some forty stands run by designers and craftsmen specializing in the Japanese universe. Clothes, accessories, jewelry and decorative objects rub shoulders with works by local illustrators.
As you stroll the aisles, let yourself be seduced by gift ideas at low prices, or by meetings with artists who have come to share their passion. Discover floral art, admire wire sculptures or observe paintings inspired by Japanese tradition. To complete the experience, workshops in bonsai, cooking and origami are also offered throughout the weekend.
Workshops, shows and ceremonies: total immersion in Japanese culture
The Tokyo Market program is packed with activities for all Japan enthusiasts. Enthusiasts can learn the art of tea and calligraphy in a dedicated pavilion in the heart of the Pierre Baudui garden. Shiatsu and martial arts sessions are also on the agenda, as are manga and mahjong demonstrations.
For pop culture fans, a group of male idol dancers will enliven the village with never-before-seen performances. Finally, the park’s gardener, Frédéric Bordis, will be offering guided tours to reveal all the secrets of the Japanese Garden. It’s a weekend of discovery that promises a beautiful escape without frontiers!
