I stayed at a traditional Japanese guesthouse, home to 30 cats.🐈 We slept together, played together, and just relaxed. 🐱🐱 It was the most peaceful time. Hi there! Today, I’m at Hiroshima Station. The guesthouse is about an hour away by train and bus. I’m taking the 1:30 p.m. train bound for Hiro. The views along the Kure Line are beautiful. Now switching to a bus. Kure is a city that grew alongside the navy. The bus stop was right in front of the station. About 10 minutes by bus to the guesthouse stop. Then a short 5-minute walk to the guesthouse. I’ve arrived! Welcome to “Neko to Tomareru Yado Nyan STAY”. Oh, there are cats on the terrace. Hello there. They look so comfy in the breeze on the veranda. This guesthouse has a cat cafe as well. The entrance to the guesthouse is over here. Let’s go inside. Already being welcomed! Looking forward to spending the day with you. Hello again. First, I’ll check in at the living room. The owner kindly explains the rules and how to spend time with the cats. Hello ☺️ Thank you for having me today. This is So-chan, super friendly. Oh! 😳 She climbed right onto my lap. I’ll sit cross-legged so it’s easier for her. 🙇 Let’s check out my room for tonight. Such a cute room. Dorm rooms are ¥5,300〜¥6,000 Looks like someone’s already here 🐈 Is that your bed for tonight? ☺️ Oh, there’s another one under the bed. Is everything okay?? One after another, they came by to patrol the room. About ten cats live here freely and do as they please. Is that Kanna-chan? Rolling around—she looks so happy. Wow ☺️ Such a perfect stretch! That stretch looks so satisfying. Chibi-chan. Ah, not the belly, huh? Mikan-chan, are you climbing up there? Are you heading for the baby bed? Flat on her back—so relaxed. Mikan-chan, that fluffy bed looks cozy. Good night. I’ll leave the door slightly open so the cats can come and go freely. Sometimes, the cats may use the litter box in the room. There are also rooms on the second floor. Private rooms: ¥23,000–25,000 (up to 4 guests) This is the dorm room on the second floor. Wow—what a great view of Kure City. On busy days, dorm rooms may be mixed-gender. Mikan-chan, napping on a new bed this time? Oh—sorry to disturb you. 😞 Looks like she’s chosen that spot. Sorry about that. Let’s step inside the cat cafe attached to the guesthouse. Hello, kitties! 🐱 Fee: ¥1,200 per hour, unlimited time ¥3,000 (¥1,500 for guests). About 20 cats live in the cafe and on the terrace. Cats rotate between the guesthouse, cafe, and terrace based on how well they get along. The sunlit veranda is perfect for relaxing. Everyone’s taking a nap now. So cute. Here’s Chibi-chan 👶🐱 Ikura-chan is just two months old. Both the guesthouse and cafe feel just like home. These cats are looking for new families. Cat tower 🐱🗼 Time for a chase! Kure is a city with a proud history of building some of the world’s largest warships. Arei Karasukojima Park. I got a glimpse of a submarine. Japan Marine United (formerly Kure Naval Arsenal). We’ve arrived at Kure’s yatai (food stall) area. Tonight, three stalls are open. I decided to try this one. “Daruma-san.” They serve oden, ramen, side dishes, wontons, and drinks. I started with oden and plum wine. 😊 Pork feet. Wonton soup. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal! Now heading back to the guesthouse by bus. I’m back! Thanks for waiting. Come on in. You can come in, it’s okay. Looks like someone wanted cuddles and snuggles. You’re so sweet. They’re all filing into the room. I even have a feline guest on my bed tonight. And one more has joined. In this trip, I stayed at a traditional Japanese guesthouse where 30 cats live! It’s located in Kure City, Hiroshima — a port town with a rich naval history. The cats live between the guesthouse and the attached cafe. About 10 cats stay in the guesthouse, and the other 20 hang out in the cafe, taking turns every day. They’re all friendly, unique, and absolutely adorable. As soon as I entered the room, I was greeted by a fluffy welcome parade! It’s truly a fluffy paradise for cat lovers.
