With less than a month until the release of Silent Hill f, Konami has finally revealed the core English and Japanese language cast for the game. This includes the protagonist, Hinako, three of her friends, and a mysterious male character introduced in the most recent Story Trailer.

Silent Hill f’s core cast was revealed in a YouTube video, which saw them discussing their experiences. The Japanese cast had already been partially announced but was made official after GamesCom, an annual gaming event held in August in Cologne, Germany. Konami was one of many publishers to demo the game for the press and the public alike, marking the first time they had shown the game publicly.

Silent Hill f Brings the Franchise to Japan

Set in 1960s Japan, in the rural town of Ebisugaoka, Silent Hill f is the first entry in the series to be set in Japan with a scenario written by Ryukishi07, author of Higurashi: When They Cry. Since GamesCom, Konami has been slowly revealing new locations via trailer and images, as well as formally identifying the main cast members.

The core cast playing Hinako and three of her friends are:

Hinako Shimizu — Suzie Yeung (EN) and Konatsu Kato (JP)

Shu Iwai — Nicolas Leung (EN) and Natsuki Osaki (JP)

Rinko Nishida — Frankie Kevich(EN) and Yuuka Iijima(JP)

Sakuko Igarashi — Courtney Lin (EN) and Hina Takise /Eri Goda (JP)

Fox Mask — Caleb Yen (EN)

Obviously, the game has other characters such as Hinako’s elder sister Junko, who was introduced in the footage revealed at Anime Expo earlier this year, and the mysterious female figure who speaks to Hinako in the Reveal trailer. However, it’s likely that confirming the names of these characters may also involve spoilers for the plot.

The English voice actors appear in a short roundtable interview released earlier this week on Konami’s official YouTube channel, where the four actors discuss their roles and their experiences.

Konami’s Kept Silent Hill f Under Tight Wraps

With less than a month to go until launch, the meaning of the title ‘Silent Hill f’ still remains one of the game’s biggest mysteries. It appears to reference the red flowers seen blooming in various game trailers. These flowers are called higanbana and are often associated with the concept of death. The other option for the ‘f’ could be foxes (kitsune), which have appeared across all of the trailers from the guardian deities of the mysterious shrine to the character Fox Mask, who appears to be some kind of fox spirit wearing the body of a human kannushi or shinto priest.

However, thanks to GamesCom and other recent press events, more footage and gameplay have been revealed, including various weapons such as a pipe and a polearm, as well as the durability mechanic and the need for a toolkit to repair them when they break. It also appears that if Hinako gets knocked unconscious, she then has to explore a vast Shinto shrine complex watched over by Fox Mask.

Silent Hill f will be released for PS5, Xbox and PC on September 25th.
