From Sendai Station, the JR Senseki Line takes commuters out to Hon-Shiogama Station in just 25 minutes. This station is nearby Shiogama Shrine and the ferry port. There is a bus that goes throughout the area called the “Shionavi” and costs 150 yen to ride each time. Since Shiogama is more of a rural destination, traveling around by car is the most convenient.

Shiroishi is a city that sits at the border between Miyagi Prefecture and Fukushima Prefecture. This was a location at the center of Tohoku’s history, under control of the Date Clan during the Edo Period and then the site of a major battle during the Boshin War.
