KYOTO (Kyodo) — Brazilian striker Rafael Elias scored two superb goals in the first half as leaders Kyoto Sanga thrashed Fagiano Okayama 5-0 in the J-League top flight on Saturday.
The win at Sanga Stadium moved Kyoto to 54 points, one clear of Vissel Kobe, who beat Yokohama F Marinos 1-0 the same day. Kyoto have won four games in a row.
Elias fired the opener in the 15th minute and added Kyoto’s third goal in the 30th minute for a 3-0 halftime lead, raising his season goal tally to 15 and joining Kashima Antlers’ Leo Ceara at the top of the J1 scoring chart.
Yoshinori Muto scored in the 37th minute in Kobe’s win at home to Marinos.
Kashima (51 points), Machida Zelvia (50) and Kashiwa Reysol (50) are among the teams scheduled to play on Sunday.
