It is no longer a factory, but has been transformed into a beautiful museum. This place is all about automotive culture. The Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology is just a 15-minute walk from Nagoya Station. Even if you plan to visit Japan and Nagoya is not on your list, we recommend stopping in the city on the way to Osaka for a couple of hours to spend some time at the museum. This place probably offers one of the finest automotive exhibition not only in Japan but worldwide. And we don’t exaggerate. Toyota actually started out as a fabric manufacturing business before evolving into one of the most successful car companies in the world. The museum is split into two main parts. The first highlights Toyota’s origins in textile manufacturing. Here you’ll see old loom machines and some really fascinating early tech. The other part is all about the car history. You’ll get to see how the Toyota name and logo changed over time and how the company moved from making small engines to producing full cars on its own. The automotive section is particularly fascinating. It takes you through the entire manufacturing process from the first design sketches and concepts all the way to the finished vehicle. You can even watch robots and machines in action building car parts with incredible precision. It really gives you a sense of how much thought and engineering goes into every step.
