Alone in Kyoto | Solo Travel Vlog in Japan 🌸
[Music] [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] I just got to my room in Kyoto and it’s it’sÂ
so cute. There’s this cutie little sink here, kettle, mini fridge, whatever. youÂ
around the corner and you’re like, “Oh, it’s really large.” Especially ifÂ
you’re familiar with Japanese hotel rooms, which are teeny teeny tiny. Okay,Â
so we’re going this way. And this is the shower room. Lots ofÂ
showers in Japan. It’s the whole room. You have the bath and you haveÂ
the shower in this little room. Is this not so cute? Wait, I just noticedÂ
this. They laid out pajamas. I mean, listen, it’s just me. And by theÂ
way, it smells so good in here. It’s explaining that in the olden days, theÂ
capital city of Kyoto was on the other side of the Kamo River. The interior and exteriorÂ
of the city were like different worlds. Before you begin to fall asleep, look back on theÂ
path you took today. Then visit your dreams, the crossroads of the other world.Â
When you finally fall asleep, what journey will you embark on?Â
Obviously, I had to put on my pajamas. I am so excited to be in Kyoto. I don’t even knowÂ
what I’m doing tomorrow, but I know that there’s a bunch of things within walking distanceÂ
of the hotel. Okay, sweet dreams. [Music] 95° outside and I don’t know what to doÂ
with my hair because I can’t find any of my hair ties. I’ve been doing the slickÂ
back bun like every day and I don’t want to do another bun. It’s so hot. I just feelÂ
like this this clock isn’t giving. But also, it doesn’t matter. I’m traveling alone. Like,Â
why does why do why do I even put makeup on? [Music] [Music] Oh jeez. 1. [Music]
[Music] Yeah. Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] Okay. When I started walking to this matchaÂ
shop, I did not realize that it was going to be this kind of situation. It’s crazy. I mean,Â
there are some beautiful little corners. Like, this is insane, but it’s because there’s a worldÂ
heritage site at the top. I’m not even going to lie to you. I don’t even know which one, butÂ
I know everyone’s walking there, so I might as well walk there, too. It’s hot. This better beÂ
the best matcha I’ve ever had in my entire life. [Music] [Music] Yeah, [Music] The matcha is secured. WeÂ
made it to the heritage site. exactly where we are to figure out. We are here temple. I’m sorry. Well, I just got in troubleÂ
because you can’t have drinks up there, which I obviously didn’t know or I wouldn’t have triedÂ
to go there. So, I’ll just admire from afar. But, it really is quite beautiful, especiallyÂ
if you look over kind of past the mob of people and into the mountains. It really isÂ
beautiful. There are some really gorgeous temples that I’ve bookmarked that are moreÂ
out of the city and they look incredible. I literally look insane. I’m wearing theÂ
most beautiful princess dress. It’s 9:00 a.m. and I’m going to go shoot it.Â
Like actually this is mental but this temple is completely empty. Oh my god. No the humidity. I’m the onlyÂ
one here. [Laughter] [Music] [Music] What you want? [Music] Come on. Come on. [Music] Beautiful. [Music] Your flower perfect. [Music] [Music] So my name is Yui. So I will beÂ
your host uh sweets making a host of today. So it’s nice to meet you. WeÂ
will make a sweet Japanese traditional sweets. It’s called wagashi inÂ
Japanese. So what means Japanese? Gashi means sweet. So Japanese saysÂ
it’s wagashi means Japanese. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Polyraphy. Uh this is the mostÂ
important uh philosophy of tea ceremony. Harmony between the guest andÂ
human object and the nature. [Music] Back and forth. Back and forth movement. to make a yes big bubble. BigÂ
bubble you make. And then second uh draw a capital M or N this movement or writeÂ
a eight eight number. [Music] All right. [Music] under attack. I should have touched [Music] And this very tr because the houseÂ
the monkey can chop the p [Music] [Music] I don’t know. [Music] This Chanel foundation, by the way, isÂ
it’s the best. It’s the best. It’s the only thing I care about. Now I’m going toÂ
call an Uber and hope that they have space for just one person cuz I definitely doÂ
not have a reservation and I’m starving. Okay, not to freak you out, I’m freakingÂ
out. I booked the Shinkansen for today, but I don’t have a hotel bookedÂ
yet. It’s on my to-do list. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Applause] [Music]
My first time in Kyoto, Japan! I’m here solo, wandering through quiet temples, tea ceremonies, and the streets of what just might be my new favorite city. Kyoto is the third stop on my solo travel trip through Asia this summer, and the pace here feels different…slower, softer, and definitely warmer. More time to think, sip matcha, slip into hidden ramen shops, and fall in love with the slower side of Japan.
In this video, I explore:
– matcha desserts & the best matcha lattes in Kyoto
– vintage designer shopping in japan
– a traditional kimono tea ceremony
– a Japanese sweets making class
– peaceful temples
– century old teahouses

Really large?! I have been to Japan 11 times, never in a tiny hotel like this.
