Naveya, a talented young artist from Pathway Children’s Academy, is turning her passion for painting into a creative fundraising venture to support a school trip to Japan. The enterprising teen has launched a unique initiative, offering to paint portraits of people’s pets for donations of $5 or more to help make her dream of experiencing Japanese culture a reality.

Naveya’s love for art has already made waves in the community. Her work was previously displayed and sold at the 3rd Street Market when it was open, earning her local recognition. Last year, she took home first place in her age group and digital art category at the county fair, a testament to her skill and dedication. “I don’t really know what made me love art,” Naveya shared. “I just liked it since I was a little kid. I guess what inspired me to sell is whenever I found out how good I was. Definitely the community helped because they told me I was really good, and they hyped me up.”

While Naveya has completed three pet portraits specifically for the Japan trip fundraiser, her portfolio is brimming with other original artwork created outside of this project. Her creativity knows no bounds, and she’s also involved in a separate school fundraiser with a group of classmates to raise money for supplies for people in need, showcasing her commitment to giving back.
