World Expo Osaka 2025 | Trinidad & Tobago’s National Day Celebration
[Music] I got into the World Expo for free. Not because I snuck in or won a ticket. I was invited by the government of Trinidad and Tobago. Yeah, they thought I’d be a good ambassador to represent the cult nation. But let’s back it up a little bit. August 11th, World Seal Pan Day. I walk in and ministers are speaking, presentations are rolling, but then the performances start. And listen, Big Man, I almost cried. They brought real trainee straight from home. So every single thing felt so authentic. The mo jumbie get on real bad. But for me, the pan man take the cake. Listen to this man make that steel pan sing. Now boy, [Music] after the opening ceremony, we went to Commons A to check out the Trinidad Pavilion. It was closed, but I still got a glimpse of a nice little carnival costume, a playable steel pan for visitors, and all the little Triny treasures, Angus bitters, chubby, you know, you have your scorpion pepper, all the thing that remind you of home right here in Osaka. If you’re going to the expo, you have to check out common a there’s no line and there’s about 30 countries from the Caribbean and Africa and everyone feels like a little portal straight into their country. After all our Mac canal, we came back for a carnival parade under the bridge and the vibes. Listen, unmatched. It was like carnival all over again in Osaka. Flags was waving, music was pumping. I came as a guest but left as a diplomat. And the VIP access we had to the whole expo was crazy. So follow along for that. [Music]
I had the honor of joining the celebrations at the World Expo in Osaka for Trinidad & Tobago’s National Day — and the vibes were unmatched! From steelpan performances by @johannchuckaree to moko jumbies and non-stop energy from the Trini crew, it felt like Carnival in Japan.
