My Japanese Adventures Episode 13/Day 13: Nabe at Japanese Friend’s Home in Tokyo!
OK, it’s almost 1:30pm, and I need to head to Chiba to go to my friend’s place, and I’m gonna stay over for 2 nights, so which I’m gonna… I’ve to pack right now. Alright, go, go, go! The homestay room is tight, so I have to store
my stuff vertically, like Marie Kondo. Because the suitcase is put away, I only pack every few days. I always align large, flat objects with the flat side of the suitcase
for better backing and less space. OK, it’s almost 3pm. I’m pretty much done with my packing. Just wanna add a hanger. And then my host mom [homestay host] put out this
matcha green tea waffle cracker from Kyoto, which I bought for her for souvenior. And she left this out, so I guess it’s for anyone who wants to try, but I guess I’m gonna try this thing that I bought for her… from Kyoto. I hope I won’t make a mess,
because it does look like it will be a mess. Wow, look at the green tea filling. It’s good! …using Uji Matcha OK, it’s after 4pm in the afternoon. I am now going to my friend’s house. But before that, I’m gonna go get some Kuehiji sake
at Chiba JR Station. Alright, good luck. After 12 minutes of walking, I see the station! My luggage for 2 nights. I bought a large lightweight backpack from Muji
that is good for traveling. And of course, a bottle of Kuheiji for party. I think I was supposed to take the express train and took the local one by mistake, so I got off and got on again. I also hit rush hour. Green onion bag looks so cute. I followed Google Map to exit JR for Imadeya sake shop
and couldn’t find it. I went back inside the station and found it. It costed me another 150 yen to exit and get back in. I bought 2 bottles of Kuheiji with a bottle I brought for the party. The location in Ginza does tax free, but this one doesn’t. This is not the mascot of Chiba… My first time taking the monorail, and it’s quite scenic. My friend picked me up at the monorail station exit. [Japanese] I will hide your face. (Um!) It was actually a long and complicated ride. I was an hour late. [Japanese] Sorry for the trouble. It took me 2.5 hours to get to my friend’s home. [Japanese] Please go ahead. This is my first time visiting a Japanese friend’s home. (It’s ready, I think…) This nabe soup base is very good,
and it conveniently comes in cubes. [Japanese] (Wait, wait…) (I can’t believe it.) Your face is so cute. I got some gifts for my friend, and she was so thrilled. (Really?) Yes. (I can’t believe it.) (There’re a lot.) (There’re a lot.) (What’s this?) Pooh-san. Mirror. Is it cute? Plush. (I will use it for make-up.) (Cute!) Please use it. (So many.) Sorry for the trouble. (You are welcome. Please don’t even worry about it at all.) Wow. Wow. Amazing! You are good at this. My friend said it’s the first time someone praised her
for cracking an egg. Wow. Amazing. I’ve never seen this before. (Really?) I’ve never seen an egg cooking in a nabe like this. Wow. We ate the vegetables and meat first,
then udon with the egg later. Do you want to use the spoon…?
(couldn’t figure out the verb conjugation at the moment) When we were halfway done with dinner,
I figured we could open a bottle of Kuheiji. I brought wine glasses for them to use. The glasses got warm after rinsing,
so I cooled them down with the fan. Kuheiji with udon. My first time. Cheers. Tasty! (Sweet!) My friend made more snacks. Apparently, you need to provide poop sample
for annual physical check-up in Japan… Menu button… This one. Mysterious Japanese fridge with hidden menu buttons… The last drop is the best drop. A stand-alone water dispenser at a Japanese home. This might be the shortest episode, but it was a long day for me! See you in my next espisode, House Party!
