Today we’re going from Guest House Hanaya on Sado Island to Sakatanto Container Hotel. Here we go. A lot of the rock around here is lava. I took a little video yesterday when the dark, but I wanted to show you guys how cool this room is. Pretty retro. It’s cool. And there’s the air conditioner hiding behind the uh bamboo there. And something else that was pretty cool. I mean, it’s a minor thing. It’s Yeah, you can charge up here and the Wi-Fi is really good in this room. It’s a little bit weaker in the other rooms and well, if you’re uploading a huge video file like I was, but it’s totally fine for if you just want to uh, you know, surf the internet. But if you’re uploading files, I’d come down here. Yeah, it’s really cool, right? Just can’t forget that. Okay, here we go. Hi guys, it’s Victor and welcome and and I just had this camera this I got the iPhone in my hand. This camera is set to photograph and it looks like that’s not a video. Did you like the futon? Yeah. Yeah. Nice. Comfortable. Comfortable. Comfortable. Okay. Good. Good. Good. Yeah. We highly recommend it. Um I think we paid 18,000 yen for it for but it’s like you’re living in a you’re staying in um in a museum basically. Everything is super old and cool in a nice way. And they do have some modern a modern amenities like air conditioning and Wi-Fi. And that’s free. Uh bring your own towel. Uh or you could rent here for 200. And they have a little it’s all like it’s all um the honor system. So they basically check you in and then they leave you alone and they have a little you can use the kitchen too which is really nice right they have huge refrigerators that you just write they say write your name please and put your stuff in the refrigerator and now anyway enough of that but it’s a great place take check it out um uh address in the description and now we are going to tiki [Music] shiki shiki shiki shiki and that’s where we’re going to ride the tyra bun right and you’ll see what that is in a Oh, wow. [Applause] should have held her hand. Kids got to learn how to be brave. Yeah, go ahead. Okay, so that was it. Little Emily did want to come through it, but she was scared. This is the other side. Look at that. What’s over here? Wonder why they was wonder why they did that. this empty desert space. Huh? Yeah. When it’s when the tide is tide is high. I want to say full like Japanese. Mancho. Fresh new body, old body. And here’s the skin. This is the freshly shed skin. Bugs are everywhere. Careful with my hat. This lights is picking it up really well. It’s kind of surprising here, too. Okay, let’s go. [Music] foreign [Music] speech. [Music] No. [Music] [Music] One more night. French. Okay. Okay, you go. Yeah, I I’ll take this in. Okay, this is Old town. People live here. Little that’s actually for the people who live. You want to go our own way or this is a tour group. [Music] Walk around the other way. You want to go? Look at the ducks. [Music] [Music] What’s going [Music] Yes. [Music] What’s your name? What’s your name? All right, [Music] Doctors. Doctors. Are you upstairs? Are you Nikaria just basic just basically an old empty house. I mean it’s gorgeous. Uh and you know it’s not that hot up here. Although it’s really hot. I mean you’re I mean yeah you can tell but it’s surprisingly not boiling. Um maybe they’re arranged in such a way when they open the windows in certain positions. Certain windows open and create a breeze through the whole house. [Music] [Music] I said Here it comes. There’s kind of steep. How is it? Huh? Really? This is a lava rock. [Music] This is really cute. Snake. Come on. Ah, come on. Spider on. What the Hey, that’s it. Big Emily, where are you? Oh, let me get a picture of you. I already went up. Really? Okay, look at this. That is so strange. Now we are going over here. Come on guys, let’s check it out. Are you going to get back up? Yeah, sure. Just put your feet in. You don’t have to take off. You don’t have to take off your sandals. They’ll just dry. It’s okay. Yes. Go ahead. Stand up. [Music] Cool. Go in the middle there where it’s deeper. Be careful though. Is that good? Look, look up and look at all the rocks on top of that building. What’s it for? There’s fish in there. Fisher. Walk down. Look. Walk down. Jump in again. Jump in. Go ahead. Walk down. Walk to the next one. There’s another stairs. Okay. This way. This way. over there. Right in front of you. Look right there. Fight it. [Music] in the water. I’ll walk around and give you guys a little tour of the town. It’s still reading. There’s a wasp. [Music] 300 to see that. We don’t really have time. So, we’re not going to be doing that. Look how close together all the buildings are, though. And these tiny little sidewalks. Nice and cool, though. It provides shade walking around. That’s enough. Oh, there’s a shrine. [Music] Oh, dinner. 8,800. That’s fancy. Oh, nice. Very pretty. Very pretty. Okay, now I got to see if I can find my way back. Is it possible? Maybe [Music] Heat. Heat. N. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] Heat. Heat. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] Okay, we’ve been walking around Shiku Negi town taking a lot of pictures as you’ve seen. And this is an old town where people actually still live here. When you come in, they ask you to donate 100 yen just to walk around town, which is fine. The kids are free though. [Music] A lot of the rock around here is lava. This is a toilet. Oh my god. That’s amazing. It’s an outside toilet. It’s an outhouse. [Music] Yeah. We’re just walking on people’s property basically. Wow. That toilet’s amazing. Look at the toilet. You want to poop there? Yes. It’s pretty cool, huh? Yes. [Music] They’re all plastic. They’re all plastic, right? Yep. Only one real pen. Did I get that one? Go ahead. You’re not going to ask mom if she wants something. Who’s in there? Go ahead. Go up. Go up. Get back cuz it blows up. Pick it up. How is it? [Music] [Music] has little pieces of jelly in it. [Music] I mean, how is it? She’s drinking it up. It’s almost all gone. [Music] You downed it like an alcoholic. There’s some more driving video for you. We just left Shikunaggi town and now we’re going to another place at Shukunagi where there might be another boat, but we’re honestly not sure. But it’s 2 minutes away. So, little Victor thinks I hit someone with a car and I heard a scream. He thinks he heard the scream. Okay. Where is it? I don’t see anything. be right up here. Got it. Oh, okay. We’re going to the We made a mistake. Now we’re going to a different uh a different tab place. So, why not? Okay, there we are. We’re almost there. You wouldn’t think it would be here. It look like we’re right in the country. There’s there’s there’s rice everywhere. Huh? What did I say? My accent’s wrong. Kids in the backpack can put them in Japanese. There’s a famous red bridge here. Oh my god, look at this town. What did I say? Oh, I’m You’re right. I did say this. It looks pretty empty. Maybe no people. They’re closed. Really? They’re closed for lunch. What? So, what do we do? Go inside and ask. Okay, this place was closed when we came at 12:00. We just missed it. They closed for 1 hour. 12 to 1, but we’ll go in and take a look. It’s uh by the red bridge, which is kind of fancy. They got the hats. Look, look. Look on the hat. Yeah, you look great. All right. [Music] Famous people have come here. Cool drinks and ice cream. 180. 180. buckets for Rhino. Wow, that’s kind of a collection of empty boxes. Anyway, this is it. And we had a good time even though we didn’t ride the boats cuz we rode at the other boats. Little Victor and mom did not get a chance. Oh, this is everyone’s feelings about the boats. We had a great time. Tai, not Tyra. Ta means flat. For some reason in my head, I thought the boats were just called flat boats. I must have gotten wrong in the beginning. Okay, here’s the bathroom before we leave. And we’re going to try to hit the sunflowers before then. Little eating area in the back. Getting hungry. How about you? You hungry a little bit. This is the other Harune place. And as you can see, it’s a little bit different. They’ve got glass in the middle there. You can look into the water. Maybe it’s more popular that way there. So, we’re going to go up that look into the water. So, let’s do that now. Achie baby. That way. That way. Said no. You go lava rocks. Okay. Look at the water. Big and alley. Look at the water. [Music] Hey, be careful. If you fall on these rocks, you’re going to cut yourself. Really sharp. You can’t marry your sister. It’s a kick on the bridge. It’s not really old. [Music] [Music] Oh, good. Look at that. Look at the little boot up there. Wow. Over here, guys. Emily, come here. Picture. Picture time. Ready. Picture time. Come here in the middle. Picture time. Turn on my left. Turn on my left. [Music] around the corner. [Music] Look. Oh, you mean the um the roachi? Oh my god. [Music] Still 30 minutes to once [Music] you family. [Music] Oh yes. Okay. [Music] [Applause] There it is. [Music] No waves. It’s beautiful, huh? Cool. We couldn’t wait cuz we’re running out of time. We better return the car by three. And we wanted to see the Himawadi or Sunaki. That’s the good quality of this car. Tells you when there’s a there’s a there’s a stop sign coming up. Um we have to return the car by 3. And we wanted to see the Himawi, which are sunflower fields, and the Ginsan uh the old abandoned silver mine, which is what they used to do on this island. They used to they used to mine for silver here. But that’s all dried up now. It’s all gone. But we’re not going to have enough time, it looks like. So, we’re going to we’re going to head towards the rental car return. And it’s about an hour. It said about an hour a few minutes ago, but now it says 40 minutes. So, 42 minutes. So, we’re we’ll see. We’ll play it by ear, but I don’t think we’re going to get to see half the things we wanted to see, which is a shame, but means we’ll have to come back here again someday. Go’s driving again cuz I’m looking at the map and we’re trying to figure out what to do. We’ve got about an hour before we have to return the car. So, uh, we drove our car from Nagua, but getting paying for the ferry just to cross is actually more expensive than just running a car. It’s nice, huh? It’s big. Yes, the ocean is big. There’s a boat for an advertisement. And there’s a couple of romantic stroll on the on the beach. [Music] Nice. They sometimes um tie things on top of rocks like this. The little shrines. And then one is supposed to be male, one is supposed to be female. Oh, look at that. [Applause] Beautiful. Kudamono chu by buy directly buy your vegetables directly from here. What’s that? Is that big old shoe? Big sandal. Straw sandal. [Music] was stuck behind behind two slow cars. And see this sticker here? That means she’s an she’s an old person. That person’s obviously that person’s veering like swerving on the road like they’re drunk sometimes. I keep telling you could have passed, but every time I say it, another car comes almost gets us killed. So what to do? [Music] I learned a new word today in Japanese. Beta boomi. Beta boomi. Fumi is fum fumu means to press uh step on something. Beta. What is beta? Oh, still like sticky. To the bottom. to the bottom. Step on it. Basically, step on it. Try it out with your Japanese friends. Okay, we decided we’re going to go for the uh silver mine. Although we have very little time, we’ll be there like 10 minutes and then we’ll turn around and go. Maybe we get a picture. It’s quite scenic. In the meantime, these guys have been fighting the whole time. That’s them fighting. Why is she on your lap? That’s okay. He’s going to pluck out her hair one by one. Mine now and Oh, there we go. Oops. I don’t see it anywhere. It’s just parking. We just passed a store. We just passed a store named K Baka. You’ll never guess. It was on Katak. What do they sell? K cars. Baka. So Kaka. That’s That’s a funny name. I like that. [Music] Okay. Look at the Look at the mermaids on the bridge. Okay. Who’s this guy? No. [Music] [Applause] What’d you get? What’d you get? What’d you get? Junior. Is it better than regular Junior? It’s different. What is it? What else? What is it? What does it do? Cookie. Cookie. [Music] We’re throwing. Having fun. [Music] 28 minutes out and we’re near the ocean. It’s starting to rain now. See here is taking over driving for me. Thank you very much. The ocean away. This is what it looks like. You know how look it up on Google Maps. We’re almost there. Not so bad. We’re about 20 minutes out. Visibility is really bad now. Yeah. Good. What hotel? Ritz Hotel. That’s a love hotel. It’s a huge average. Another love hotel at least on a strip of love. Maybe really they just slowed down really bad. We’re going 43 km an hour and it’s a little bit better now. So that’s good. That was pretty stressful. It’s 9:38 p.m. and we’re about 5 minutes from the hotel. Sun, of course. Got to see if they have strong local beer here. Scotch whiskey highs. I got whiskey in the house in the in the car. I mean, which is our house now. Oh, these kind of strong cereals. You know, I did not obey that. I’m not going to stand up when I can sit down. I mean, we’re not going to sit down when I can stand up. These look different from the ones that we have. We’re a minute out and the rain is seems to have stopped. Little Victor slept through the whole thing. And now we’re about to arrive to the Sakata. Sakaton Sakata. Sakaton, but I think it’s Sagaton. I think it’s called the Sagaton Container Hotel. We’ll see. Oh, there it is. Sakatanto container hotel. Look at this. Right across. It’s the ocean there. We’re right on the ocean. There’s G. Maybe another G. G. That’s a G, I think. Keep going. There’s F. Yeah, there’s F. See the letter on the bottom? There’s E. There’s D. There’s C. There’s B. Where? Where? A. Where’s the last one? Yeah. We arrived safely. [Music] A little store here, huh? Locks. There’s no stuff in here. This just showers here, too. [Music] Well, that doesn’t work. [Music] So here we take in the email gives a number. You’re kidding me. You get bath towels here. Please use one per person [Music] free books trade I’m sure in other languages as well have coffee oh we got a Open the bracelet. [Music] Okay, we’re in. Yay, we’re in. So, so you can check it out. They have very simple showers, but it’s shampoo and soap. That’s all you need. So, they changed it. They made it they made you go through two steps. And they have to laundry, coffee, toasters, microw toilet paper, coffee. It’s uh still storming out. Still lightning in the skies here. If I’m lucky, I’ll be able to catch some lightning. Maybe not. Okay, we finally got the key. So, we’re going in. Kids like opening things. Okay. Open the price. What is that? Open the price on Japanese game show. Okay. It’s freezing in here. Okay. How we do it? There it is. Very simple. No TV. Where? Oh, that’s the TV. You think so? Where’s the projector? No, there’s no TV in this one. Maybe they bought their own TV. That’s what those people have. We We passed by. Okay, looks good. There’s a hammer for bears. It’s for bears. Okay, let’s get inside. What a treat. Mom for me. Thanks, Mom. The day of convenient living. That’s all right. I got my protein. I mean, hey guys, good morning. Good morning. I just woke up. I can’t speak. Um, got my cup of coffee. They have um now now that there’s light, you can see the container situation here. See, it’s pretty pretty nice. The kids are sleeping still. Yoka’s awake cuz she’s getting ready to take the laundry down. But I want to show you this uh area. Just look at that. And look what’s on the other side of the camera. You have the bay. Oh, there’s garbage. It’s unfortunate. It’s not very clean. A little walking path, of course, slide for kids. But um the boats you can see way in the distance there. There’s a windmill that sends a trumpet for some reason. A lot of them over there. Um, yeah. Very nice and peaceful. Just the sound of golds, seagulls. And I’m enjoying my cup of coffee here. Uh, I guess I should wrap up this video. I didn’t finish editing yesterday, so I’m actually late. you’re tired. Um but uh yesterday was good. So in the end we didn’t take the the tar tune only Amily and I wrote it and we when we went to the other place it was closed. That was too bad. And um let me see any regrets. That’s the only regret really. Oh we didn’t have enough time to see other things. Yeah we need more time. I think we need two days on the island. set. I guess that’s too many things. So, my son’s like, “Well, we got to come back.” And, you know, it’s not it’s not uh it wouldn’t be that hard to do a day trip. So, it’s not that far yet. Anyway, I thought there was something else I wanted to talk about, but I’m sure it will click in later. Anyway, it’s a it’s a nice little hotel. Seven like it’s just over 7,000 yen. I don’t remember, which is great. The beds are a little bit small. The girls are here. The girls are doing Think the girls think I have food. No food. Oh, the camera stuck. I We did some feeding on the boat on the ferry and for some reason the camera froze. We didn’t see Emily and Victor feeding the birds. That was cool. So, we did get we did get a couple pictures. Um having a great time so far. Someone wrote in the comments US Average I think his name is US average guy. He’s a good guy. Steve um he said the kids look really bored in the car and you know the videos that I show you maybe I I should ch I should film when they’re having fun so you can say they’re having fun they’re having a great time and my son’s like you know it’s fun isn’t it just a vacation it’s fun just being on vacation all the time so it’s you know it’s hard it’s hard being on vacation all the time but but we are enjoying it so far and we still have we only this is only our fourth day and today’s the morning of the 50, I think. So, I’ll go edit this video. Enjoy my coffee and um see you guys on the other side. Oh, laundry. Yeah, Yoko’s going to do laundry. I said that, didn’t I? I forgot. Anyway, for that reason, I’m not wearing underwear. Too much information. Yeah. So, I’m just wearing uh pajamas so she can wash everything so we’ll have a fresh load tomorrow. And tomorrow, we enter Hokkaido. And that’s when I break open the bottle of whiskey. Here’s the room one more time. They have extra chairs in the corner and I think things extra sleeping bags, but we just crammed in here. It’s a little bit tight. Pictures up. She’s dead. All right.

  1. Haha, those hats! I've seen a container hotel in passing and kinda wondered what it might be like inside —not what I imagined 😉 Anyhow, great adventure and good quality time with the family👍

  2. Damn Victor. You looked good in that last scene with no glasses and your hair windblown. Distinguished.
