Staying at the World’s First Robot Hotel 🏨Henn na Hotel🤖 + Tokyo-Asakusa Stroll
The world’s very first robot hotel— Staying there is full of surprises or insights. Even the simplest features can amaze you. I visit Ryogoku, the heart of sumo. And enjoy the joy of delicious yakiniku. Nearby stands a temple with 1,400 years of history— The majestic Sensoji Temple. Its stunning architecture is breathtaking. Experience Tokyo, where tradition meets the future. This time, I’m exploring the Asakusa area of Tokyo. Starting from JR Asakusabashi Station… …with Sensoji Temple as a main highlight. Hello everyone! Today, I’m in front of JR Asakusabashi Station. I’m about to check into the famous “Henn na Hotel”
—the world’s first robot-operated hotel. The name literally means “Weird(Henn na) Hotel,”… I’m genuinely excited to see what it’s like inside. It’s in a great location—just within
a five-minute walk from the station. A modern high-rise business hotel in the heart of the city. Let’s head inside and take a look. The elevator is toward the back. Check-in seems to be on the second floor. The check-in floor has a spacious, open feel to it. This female staff member? She’s actually a robot. She starts speaking in multiple languages. Let’s listen in. Her mouth even moves in sync! And this is the male robot staff member. He’s starting the multilingual guidance as well. It’s definitely surprising to be greeted by robots! You just follow the prompts and
enter your information, like your name. The process is super simple. Just insert your card to make payment. Then receive your room key and receipt. Amenities like razors and loungewear are available here. You can also store large luggage securely. There’s even a microwave… …plus washers and dryers for laundry. And of course, vending machines for soft drinks. Despite being run by robots, the setup
is clean, simple, and convenient. Tonight, I’ll be staying in a double-bed room on the 5th floor. Let’s head inside! It’s a double bed, but the room itself
is more like a single—so it’s not that spacious. Still, the bed is large and comfy, which is great. The fabric feels nice too… Overall, it’s very comfortable. The pillows are soft and fluffy as well. And here’s the view from the 5th floor… The view isn’t great from this floor, but it’s said
you can see Tokyo Skytree from the top-floor rooms. Let’s take a look at the shower room. It’s compact but well-equipped,
with a Japanese-style bidet toilet. Since this is a budget single room,
it offers everything you need. You’ll find both face towels and bath towels provided. Here’s a dental care set. And a clean glass for rinsing. There’s also a retractable clothesline for drying small items. Perfect for hanging towels or underwear. The room also comes with mugs for hot drinks. With a kettle provided, you can easily enjoy tea or coffee. There’s a safety box for storing your valuables securely. And just below that, a mini fridge. Handy for keeping bottled drinks like tea nice and cold. Of course, there’s air conditioning. The climate control works great. There’s also a desk and chair for getting some work done. Ideal for doing some computer work or writing. A large LCD TV is provided as well—
pro baseball is now on during my stay. Wi-Fi is available. The speed is
decent, though not blazing fast. There are AC outlets and USB ports for charging devices. You’ll find the same outlets
and USB ports behind the bed too. Slippers are provided—essential
for a comfortable stay inside. There are four sturdy hangers for your clothes. A fabric freshening spray is also provided,
great for keeping clothes and the room fresh. And uniquely for this hotel—a steam clothing
refresher to remove wrinkles and odors. It’s perfect for freshening up your clothes without hassle. I hung up my jacket on a hanger and decided to give it a try. Press the power button… Then hit “OK,” and it takes about 48
minutes to clean and refresh your clothes. Definitely a fitting feature for a robot hotel. Since I’m already here in Asakusabashi… I’m going to hop on a train and head out
to a park known for its beautiful hydrangeas! Let’s head out for a little adventure. I’ll take the JR Sobu Line and transfer at Kameido Station… Then ride the Tobu Kameido Line to Kameidosuijin Station. After getting off at Kameidosuijin… It’s about a 15-minute walk
to the Kyu Nakagawa Mizube Park. This park is famous for its hydrangeas, and today
it’s filled mostly with tourists from Taiwan. White, pink, and light blue hydrangeas
are in full bloom—absolutely stunning. Some visitors are dressed in cosplay
outfits, taking photos among the flowers. It’s a peaceful, heartwarming moment. Now head back toward Asakusa. I got off
at Ryogoku Station—home of sumo wrestling. Here, huge pictures of past
Yokozuna champions welcome you. Their handprints are huge—truly impressive! This is the Ryogoku Kokugikan, the sacred sumo stadium. I’d love to witness a powerful sumo match up close someday. Even the benches along the street are
decorated with sumo artwork by Hokusai. Feeling hungry, I decided to skip the traditional
chanko nabe since I’m traveling solo… …and go for some yakiniku instead! 😄 This restaurant welcomes solo diners—perfect for me. I ordered a set menu with kalbi (short ribs) and beef tongue. Here’s my personal yakiniku grill—just for one! The set has arrived—the meat looks fresh and delicious. Time to start grilling! I’m going straight for the main stars
—beef short ribs and chicken thigh. Dip them in the sauce and let’s dig in! Mmm… absolutely delicious! Now for the chicken thigh. And this is the beef tongue—grilled to
perfection, with the aroma filling the air. A generous dip in the sauce, and it’s time to enjoy. Before I knew it, everything was
gone. What a satisfying meal! Total cost: ¥2,090—about $14. Then, I’ve made my way over to Sensoji Temple in Asakusa. Passing through the iconic Kaminarimon
gate with a sense of gratitude. It’s just before 7 PM, so most of the
shops on Nakamise Street are closed, but a few are still open. And without the
crowds, it’s actually a perfect time to visit. This is Hozomon Gate, flanked by two guardian statues. Standing at 21.7 meters, it’s truly
a massive and imposing structure. Even the lantern alone is 3.75 m tall and weighs 450 kg. And just ahead is the majestic main hall. Sensoji is a sacred Kannon temple
with nearly 1,400 years of history. The writing on the pillar reads:
“No matter who you are or where you come from, compassion is extended to all.” Even today, in the 21st century, it remains a
place of prayer and peace for countless people. Prayer—it’s a beautiful act that
transcends cultures and unites us all. The five-story pagoda, standing 53.32 meters tall, and
Hozomon Gate are breathtakingly lit up at night. I’ve returned to the hotel now. But the beauty of Sensoji’s
architecture is still vivid in my mind. Time for a refreshing shower. The hairdryer has surprisingly strong airflow too. And after the shower… …I relax with some soothing classical
music playing on LCD TV screen. Staying near Asakusa really gives you
easy access to so many iconic places. It’s getting late, so time to call it a night. Goodnight! Good morning! I had a great night’s sleep. I’ll have breakfast at the Indian restaurant
on the first floor. Let’s head in! There’s a wide variety of fresh salads. The side dishes like chicken and eggs look delicious too. They offer five different kinds of
curry, and all of them look tempting. I chose my favorite—lentil curry. It’s packed with red beans and has a pleasantly mild spice. For my drink, I go with a refreshing lassi. Let’s eat! The naan is freshly baked and nice and warm. The spice level is mild—perfect for Japanese palates. Even in the morning, the spices really warm you up. Now for the scrambled eggs. So tasty! It’s so good, I lost track of time.
Even Pikachu seems happy 😆 And to finish, a juicy orange for dessert… …and a quiet cup of coffee to wrap up the meal. That was a wonderful breakfast. Thank you! My clothes are freshly steamed and wrinkle-free now. A perk unique to this robot hotel, perhaps? Despite the quirky name, it’s clear the hotel’s core philosophy is about constant innovation and change. Alright, it’s time to check out and leave the room. I’ll say goodbye to the robots now. I never encountered
a single human staff member during my stay. Thank you so much for watching!
