Hyatt Hotels has announced that a Hyatt affiliate has reached a management agreement with Kanden Realty & Development to bring the first Hyatt Centric hotel to the Japanese city of Osaka.
Slated to open in 2031, the upcoming hotel will form part of a redevelopment project involving Kanden Realty & Development, Nankai Electric Railway, and Osaka Metro.
It will be housed in a 28-floor mixed-use complex directly connected to Namba Station.
The new build Hyatt Centric property in Osaka will feature 267 guest rooms and a 15th-floor lobby offering city views.
It aims to provide a “modern” experience with amenities such as meeting spaces, a full-service restaurant, a fitness centre, and a rooftop bar on the 28th floor overlooking Namba.
Part of Hyatt’s Classics Portfolio, the Hyatt Centric brand is known for its centrally located properties in key cities with more than 65 locations worldwide.
Hyatt Japan and Micronesia vice-president Masahiko Sakamura said: “As a brand positioned for discovery, Hyatt Centric is the perfect fit for Namba, one of Osaka’s most vibrant and internationally recognised entertainment districts.
“We are fully committed to delivering a hotel experience that reflects the high expectations of the Hyatt Centric brand. We are eager to introduce global travellers visiting Japan, one of the world’s top destinations, to Namba’s exciting energy and a new way to experience the city of Osaka through Hyatt Centric Namba Osaka.”
Japan currently hosts two Hyatt Centric hotels, one in Tokyo and the other in Kanazawa. A third property, Hyatt Centric Sapporo, is scheduled to open in 2026 near Sapporo’s Odori Park.
In June 2024, Hyatt Hotels expanded its Japanese portfolio with the launch of Caption by Hyatt Namba Osaka.
“Hyatt Centric to make Osaka debut in 2031” was originally created and published by Hotel Management Network, a GlobalData owned brand.
