TOKYO VLOG | Kōenji, Asagaya, & Nakano

Spend the day with us as we explore Kōenji, Asagaya, and Nakano! We are in Japan for 2 months, and often just go wherever we feel like that day! Today we wanted to visit some places we’ve never been. We hope you enjoy! 🙂

Things to Do in Kōenji:
– Junjō Shōtengai Pure Heart Shopping Street
– Katsuya: affordable katsudon (pork cutlet rice bowl)
– COFFEE Coral: cozy kissaten (traditional Japanese coffee shop)
– Chameleon Vintage: thrift store
– Don Don Down on Wednesday: Second-hand shop where prices drop weekly.
– Koenji High: Iconic live music venue for indie and rock bands.
– B&B Books & Beer: Bookshop with a small beer bar inside
– Street art on Look Shopping Street
– Tori Tetsu: izakaya specializing in yakitori
– Za-Koenji Public Theatre
– Sound Studio Dom: Punk and underground music

Things to Do in Asagaya:
– Asagaya Pearl Center: Long covered shopping arcade with shops and places to eat
– Tanabata Matsuri (early August)
– Jazz Bar J: live jazz sets
– Laputa Asagaya – Small indie cinema showing Japanese classics and arthouse films
– Coffee Amp the Roaster: Retro kissaten-style coffee shop
– Shinmeigu Shrine
– Mabashi Inari Shrine
– Animation Museum (Suginami Animation Museum): Exhibits on anime history and production
– Walk along Zempukuji River

Things to Do in Nakano:
– Nakano Broadway: Multi-floor shopping complex for anime, manga, and collectibles
– TOKYO RAMEN かいか中野本店
– RARE Nakanoten: record shop
– NAKANOブリック（BRICK）: bar, coffee, and food at a cozy spot
– Mandarake Complex: Flagship store for manga, rare books, and figurines
– Super Potato Nakano: Retro video game shop with playable arcade machines.
– Robot Robot: toy and figure collectibles
– Café Zenon: Manga-themed café with stylish interior.
– Bar Zingaro: Café/bar curated by artist Takashi Murakami
– Ramen Jiro Nakano: ramen spot known for massive portions
– Nakano Sun Mall
– Nakano Sun Plaza Beer Garden (summer only): Rooftop beer garden with city views
– Renga Zaka: brick-paved slope street lined with vintage shops, indie cafés, and small bars

We went to Don Quijote back in Roppongi, and had our monaka ice cream by Tokyo tower!
