Thematic week at the national pavilion will highlight the advances that the country has developed in this fuel and its commitment to energy transition.

From August 24 to 28, the Chile pavilion at the Expo Osaka 2025 will be the epicenter of the country’s commitment to energy transition and the development of green hydrogen as a key source for global decarbonization. The thematic week will bring together authorities, guilds, companies, students, and experts around a program that combines innovation, technical training, and international cooperation.

The national delegation will be led by the Minister of Energy, Diego Pardow, and includes representatives from ProChile, trade associations, companies, and experts from the energy world, plus a student team that will perform a demonstration of the Grand Prix of Green Hydrogen.

The head of the Energy portfolio valued the work done around the development of green hydrogen and stressed the importance of citizenship in this process. “We hope that visitors to the pavilion will see that our country’s effort, the effort of the State of Chile to have a decarbonized society, is not just about institutional push but about real people’s stories leading this energy transition day by day,” Pardow noted.

In turn, Ignacio Fernández, General Director of ProChile, highlighted the relevance of this event: “The clean energy and green hydrogen week at Osaka will show the world Chile’s positioning as a leader in these subjects. ProChile’s work on this topic, aligned with work from different government institutions, focuses on articulating the offer of solution providers for the H2V and clean energy industry; we are supporting them in their internationalization with the idea that they can export these solutions to different markets, among them, Japan”.

Chile has positioned itself as a global leader in Green Hydrogen production thanks to its exceptional geographical conditions which, combined with a robust port infrastructure and an ambitious energy policy, project the country as the most competitive H2V producer in the world in the coming years. In terms of energy transition, the country ranked 21st globally and as the second most advanced country in Latin America in the 2025 Energy Transition Index from the World Economic Forum and Accenture. In the country, renewable energies accounted for nearly 68% of electricity generation in 2024, according to the National Electric Coordinator.

During the event, a demonstration of the H2 Grand Prix Chile (H2GP), an international training and learning program in science and engineering for high school students, will take place. The students modify and compete with remote-controlled vehicles powered by green hydrogen. This competition is led by the SOFOFA Educational Corporation.

With Colbún as the Main Sponsor, six students and two teachers from Technical Professional High Schools, representatives of the country’s major renewable energy hubs, will showcase their skills in the program and their knowledge in renewable energies, through an exhibition of the competition on the track. This activity, which will be repeated on the 25th and 26th in the Chilean pavilion at the expo, seeks to highlight the talent and leadership of young technicians in the energy transition, promoting gender equality in specialties with less female presence.

During the following days, presentations will be made by trade associations such as ACESOL, ACERA and ANESCO, as well as by the company Nido Constructech, in addition to exhibitions of wind projects through virtual reality and the presentation of an immersive experience titled “If it’s green hydrogen, the world starts with Chile”, specially made by the Ministry of Energy for this week.

On Wednesday the 27th, in Tokyo, a specialized seminar titled “Energy Transition: The Importance of Renewable Energies and the Future of Green Hydrogen” will take place. It will feature a presentation from minister Pardow, two discussion panels, and the participation of Japanese companies in the field.
