○ A Bit of History
Shibu Onsen was discovered over 1,300 years ago by a monk named Gyoki.
In the samurai era, it was used by Takeda Shingen as a secret healing spot for his wounded soldiers.
It’s been a popular place for hot spring healing and as a post town on the old Kusatsu Road ever since.
