Royal Caribbean International has revealed the 10 winners of its ‘Fortune Awaits’ competition, who will be heading to China and Japan in October.

The cruise line launched the contest with Travel Weekly in July, offering agents the chance to scoop a place on a trip to Shanghai, followed by a four-night cruise to Okinawa on Spectrum of the Seas.

Entrants had to complete the new Royal Caribbean Spectrum of the Seas training course from Online Travel Training (OTT) – one of Travel Weekly’s sister brands.

They also had to send in a picture of themselves using Spectrum of the Seas chopsticks that had been sent out with copies of Travel Weekly.

Almost 300 agents have now completed the course with OTT – one of Travel Weekly’s sister brands.

Ben Bouldin, president of Royal Caribbean in China, told a Travel Weekly webcast: “It is a money-can’t-buy experience…it will be the trip of a lifetime.”

He also said he had been “blown away” by how many agents had completed the training course with OTT.

Furthermore, he revealed on the webcast that several surprises are in store for the winning agents, including VIP hospitality at the final of the Rolex Shanghai Masters tennis tournament, because the cruise line has become a sponsor of the event.

Lucy Huxley, editor-in-chief at Travel Weekly, will join the trip, along with a member of the UK sales team from Royal Caribbean.

She commented how pictures entered into the competition were very creative, with plenty of entrants sending in pictures of their dogs, in particular.

Bouldin added that the winners will fly to Shanghai from London with Qatar Airways, via Doha, and thanked the airline for its support with the trip.

The 10 Fortune Awaits winners are:

Sam Griffiths – Cruise1st
Zoe Toogood – Fred Olsen Travel
Lisa Harrold – Murray Travel
Holly O’Neil – Travelbag
Laura Harvey – Holiday Elite
Kieran Miller – Magical Travel
James Barker – Iglu
Gemma Webster – Bolsover Cruise Club
Megan Carter – Sandy Lane Travel
Peter Kisbee – Tui

Royal Caribbean will be in touch with the agents to organise flights, visas and other elements of their prize trip.
