Kyoto has been announced as the host city for the Asia Pacific Medical Education Conference (APMEC) 2027, marking the first time the event will take place in Japan.
The conference, running from 13-16 January 2027, is expected to welcome around 1,200 participants, including around 500 international attendees.
APMEC is an annual conference that brings together experts in health professions education to share cutting-edge research and case studies. It serves as a platform for discussing the latest insights and best practices in the education of healthcare professionals. This year’s conference took place in Singapore, while the 2026 edition is heading to China.
Japan Meetings & Events, Japan’s convention bureau, said the forthcoming conference in Japan has been made possible through the strong relationship and long-standing collaboration between the National University of Singapore, the founding institution of APMEC and members of the Japan Society for Medical Education, including Dr. Harumi Gomi Yano from International University of Health and Welfare School of Medicine.
The Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) supported the selection process of the host city in Japan by providing relevant information and guidance.
