WINTER IN TOKYO | 5 days w/ PRICES, savoy pizza, making chopsticks in kawagoe, exploring kagurazaka

[Music] Good morning. It’s our first full day in Tokyo. We actually arrived last night. We came in from Hokkaido pretty late because our flight was delayed due to the snow conditions. But when we arrived, we checked into the AC Hotel. This is where we’re staying for the next six nights. And it’s located in Ginsza, which is a great location. There’s lots of shopping and food around here. We were looking for a place to eat last night because we didn’t have anything planned. And we stumbled upon this isakaya place. And it turned out to be a place that serves Okinowan dishes. And we just came back from our honeymoon in Okinawa 3 months ago. So, it was kind of nice to recognize the different dishes. We ordered a lot of food. Andrew got a pineapple sour that was really good. And then we ended the night and then we just went back to our hotel and slept. This morning we are going to get some breakfast, do a little shopping in the area. We have lunch reservations at Eskeis, which is a French Michelin star restaurant. I’m really excited to try it. [Music] We just finished eating breakfast at the cafe. It’s called Try Pol in Genza. We’re here at 10:20 a.m. There’s already a line and the Hermes store opens at 11:00. We’ll see what they have in stock today. [Music] kind of taste made with cooking or flower. [Music] Twice. Little three, two, [Music] butter coffee stand in the I got the Slayer Drip Brazil, which is supposed to be chocolate flavored. Andrew got a matcha latte. After the Capiara Cafe, we came to Nakano Broadway because Andrew wanted to buy some of his figures. So, here he got three figures from Mander Rocket. Now, we’re going to be heading to Shinjuku, which is where we’re going to have our yaki niku dinner. We’re going to just go with the 5900 course today. So this is what it comes with. So you basically get one of everything. Here’s all the meat. We have intestine, skirt, steak, wagu beef, beef heart, and then short ribs. Got my lemon soda with soju. You like just a little bit. [Music] You got my [Music] figuring. [Music] [Music] It’s good. [Music] Good morning. It’s our second full day in Tokyo. Today we’re actually going to be doing something that we’ve been trying to do for the past couple of trips, but never worked out because you have to kind of wake up early and it’s not that close. We’re actually going to the cat temple. So, we made it out early. It took about I think 56 minutes to get here. After that, we’re going to go get the Jibli cream puff pastries. [Music] These ones have like little robes or sweaters someone knit for them. [Music] We’re going to buy cat dolls. The good size is actually sold out, so we’re going to go one size bigger. So, this was the size that I wanted. It’s a very cute size, but they only have this one or a really small one. [Music] That’s [Music] [Music] birthday. [Music] [Music] I thought [Music] you [Music] Get okay. Okay. [Music] We made it to Shibuya and we’re at Ioshi Cola. They have these like special crafted soda drinks that they put in these cute little pouches. Cheers. Cheers. Pretty refreshing. We made it right before closing, too, because this place closes at 7. [Music] We’re at Venarashi. I got the sampling set. Three udons, tempura, and Angela got the carbonara. [Music] Try the shrimp one. A little bit of their hot sauce. This is the one with the egg mixed in. [Music] Let’s go with the hot sauce. Adds a nice kick to it. Add some of his beef. You actually have to order the meat separately here and the temper separately cuz uh baseline the noodles don’t come with meat to show you with a da cone on top. There’s so the bottom. Oh, okay. Looks very light. We made it to Kawa Goay. It took like an hour and a half to get here. And we first started off with some coffee at the shop. It’s called Hills Coffee. And it’s a really cute cafe. The guy who works there is really sweet, too. And he made me an amazing tasting latte. And then we just had a quick bite. We got quesadilla. Yeah. Because I’m pretty hungry. I didn’t eat breakfast yet. So, we got here pretty early, but so far it’s really quiet. Now, check this out. It’s a super cute and clean town. Yeah, nothing is quite open yet, so it’s still very quiet. We’re at this place called Hayashia for lunch. We got the hitsu mabushi set and it comes with eel rice and there are four different ways to eat it and we’ve actually had this before in Nagoya. Last way is also one of my favorite ways to eat it with a little bit more rice. It’s actually with the dashi broth. Add a little bit of the or le it like that. [Music] We are getting ready to choose the chopsticks. I kind of want this one though. What is hardness? [Music] [Music] Ton of shadings. No. [Music] [Music] One more. [Music] He has snacks. [Music] [Music] So, apparently this is a popular snack in Kawoi. It’s made with wheat and sugar. So, it looks like this. At first, I thought it was a bread stick, but it’s actually very light. It doesn’t feel like there’s any bread inside. We saw we saw a lot of cool kids purchase these. They had them hanging from their backpack. Ooh, it’s crisp. Interesting. It’s like drier than bread. The texture inside is pretty dry. It’s made from wheat and flour that is like sugar based. So, at first when you bite into it, it like has a taste of bread, but then it’s like really dry and then all of a sudden it just melts in your mouth. It’s made with sweet potato. [Music] All right, we ended up at a curry place called Pinoya Curry. After I finished shopping at Akihaba, Angela got the three star beef. I got a pastrami curry. It’s nice and warm cuz I’m feeling pretty under the weather right now since it’s like cold and windy here in Tokyo. We wanted to eat some soup for lunch. So I just found this random udome place. I picked up the Sichuan udones. So tempura fish cake, broccolini, lotus root, sweet potato, and a shrimp. I just got plain noodles with leak and soup. And then shrimp tempura, sweet potato, and then also the fried egg. [Music] We are here at Yoy Yogi Park. We thought we’d walk around a little bit cuz we’re taking a pretty easy day. So, we’re going to just hang out before we head into Shabuya, so we don’t have to carry a bunch of shopping bags around. And the park itself is very, very empty. We’re on top of this bridge right now. All right, we got to the other side of the bridge and it actually looks a little bit more lively on this side. We have these basketball courts. Looks cool. Brains. Gotcha. They actually have many gachas here, I think. Hoping to get this one, one of these. [Music] [Music] Oh. [Music] some of the items we got here. [Music] Here we go. We are at Seavoy. There’s a super long line, but we had reservations. [Music] That was really fast. [Music] I like I got a hot soda. I got the duck soa soup top cuz I’m feeling under the weather. Try with that thing first. So doesn’t have much flavor. [Music] it with this pot. What’s in here? It’s like some sort of Oh, I think this might be the soba noodle. Yeah, it’s the water they chuck it in. [Music] It is a cash only place, so just keep that in mind. I think the prices are pretty high here compared to other silver places, but it’s pretty good. Look at this thing. This is the chocolate parfait. Got the ice cream. This is the ujicha ice cream. Matcha. Just a regular green tea. Have my roasted green tea bika. It’s roasted green tea from Kyoto. This is a sencha green tea soda. And then of course I got my Maruku Coya Mayan matcha. This is actually the matcha that I drink at home, but it’s like a different type which I haven’t gotten a chance to try. I haven’t really had matcha this trip and I drink matcha every day. This one’s so good. I hope that I can find more of the matcha here, but there’s been a shortage this season. We spent half a day in Kagura Zaka. It’s a little bit outside of the main Tokyo area, but it’s really close to Shinjjuku. Now, we are here at Canal Cafe. In order to be in this area, you do have to order either food or drink. So, we each just got a coffee. I got a latte, but it’s just a really cute area to sit, drink some coffee, and chill. We are hanging out here for just like a few hours, and then we’re actually going to head back to Ginsa. We’re going to shop around a little bit, and then we have dinner reservations in Shinjuku. [Music] Hey, [Music] hey, hey. [Music]
