Day 9: Temple Pilgrimage & Osaka Skyline Views! 🇯🇵

On July 20, 2025, our journey continued as we checked out of our Kobe hotel and headed back to Osaka! We stored our luggage at the station and immediately set off to continue a very special journey: the Saigoku 33 Pilgrimage!

This trip, we made time to visit two more sacred sites on our ongoing quest to complete the pilgrimage within today.

A Day of Temples & High-Altitude Views
Our day was a perfect mix of serene temple visits and modern city sights:

Sojiji Temple (總持寺): First, we took a train to Temple No. 22 of the pilgrimage, a beautiful and historic site.

Fujii-dera Temple (葛井寺): We then journeyed to Temple No. 5, another important stop on our spiritual route.

After exploring the temples and grabbing a delicious lunch near Hankyu Sanban Gai, we went up to the stunning Abeno Harukas 300 – Observation Deck! We enjoyed some amazing desserts and drinks while taking in the incredible panoramic views of Osaka from the top.

Summer Eats & Shinsaibashi Nights
Finally, we retrieved our luggage from Osaka Station and checked into our new hotel near Hommachi Station (本町駅), just a short walk from the bustling Shinsaibashi area. For dinner, we indulged in a fantastic local meal, including a special summer treat: cold udon noodles! It was the perfect way to cool down and end a packed day.

What’s the best summer dish you’ve tried in Japan? Let us know in the comments!
