One Day in FUKUOKA β Food, Attractions & Hidden Gems [Japan Vlog]
[Music] Fukuoka, the largest city on Kyushu Island, may not enjoy the same spotlight as Tokyo or Osaka, but it offers an unforgettable travel experience that deserves a place on every traveler’s itinerary. [Music] Continuing from our last episode, we journeyied overnight from Osaka to the Shinmoji port aboard a ferry. Upon arrival, our adventure wasn’t over yet. We still had a 90-minute commute ahead of us to reach central Fukuoka involving a mix of bus rides and a quick hop on the Shinkansen. We finally made it. It’s just past 1100 a.m. as we head straight to the very first Ichiran ramen shop. Ready to join the line and kick off our Fukuoka adventures with a bowl of Hakata ramen. Here we are at the first Ichiran ramen store in Fukuoka. It’s about a uh 80 minute 60 to 80 minute wait time cuz the line is very long. It’s only a Monday, but it is close to lunch time. Post lunch time. Ichan Ramen is a famous introvert haven when it comes to dining. With over 65 restaurants around the world, this chain has quickly grown in popularity. Today, we’re here to visit its humble roots right at the heart of Fukuoka. After inputting our order in a kiosk, we arrive at our individual stalls where we have minimal interactions with the restaurant staff. Ichan Ramen specializes in hakata ramen where the defining feature is a rich white broth made from pork bones. The flavors are bold with a strong savory and rich taste. Noodles are on the thin side and pairs well with the broth. A popular practice in the Fukuoka region is kadima or noodle refills. After finishing your initial serving of noodles, you’ll often still have some broth left. For about $1 to $2, you can order an extra helping of noodles to add to your bowl, ensuring you leave full without resorting to just drinking the salty broth on its own. [Music] Overall, the Ichiron Ramen Main Store made for a satisfying lunch. That said, if you’re short on time, is probably a spot you can skip, especially with weight times often stretching over an hour. Since Ichiron is a chain, you’ll likely get the same great quality at one of their other less crowded locations. [Music] Still [Music] a ton of people. In Tokyo, people stand on the left. In Osaka, people stand on the right. In Fukuoka, people stand in the middle. So, we just got off of the subway and we’re on our way to Team Labs Fukuoka Forest. What What can you tell us about this exhibit? Well, it’s another Team Labs art exhibition. I’m not sure if it’s indoor or outdoor. Some of the preview photos look like it was indoor, but the name is also forest, which throws me off. It makes me think it’s outdoor. So, I guess we’ll have to see for ourselves. So many things that we don’t know on this trip because we booked things in advance like 2 3 months ago. And so, we’re experiencing things for the first time. So, as we’re going from the train station to Fukoga Tims, this is what we pass on the way. This is the founding place of Yakult, the drink. And here you can see the statue. And we also have machines here that sell Yakult drinks. If you haven’t tried Yakult before, it is a refreshing water thin yogurt beverage that originated in Japan in the 1930s. In the States, you’ll often find it in an Asian grocery store in packs that look like this. Oh, that’s refreshing. Is that the original? It tastes like it. We made our way west from downtown Fukuoka to the Yakult founding place, which is a short walk away from the Fukuoka bossy complex where Team Labs Forest is held. Team Labs Forest is an immersive digital art experience that invites you to interact with the exhibits using both your phone and your body. Tickets are around $16 per person, and if you’re traveling with kids, this spot is a must visit. [Music] [Music] A horde of mini ashes migrating for the winter. So, how did you like the Team Labs forest experience? It was so good. The first part felt like uh we were like catching Pokemon with arrows and nets and then and then the rest of the rooms are like interactive like using your body moving around type which is very very fun. [Music] We’re here in front of Fukoka Tower. Very tall building as you can see. They also have a Christmas market that’s going on around. It looks like it just started. So, not not a lot of people yet. It’s also a Monday. It is also a Monday, but I would imagine it’ll get crowded as the day progresses or even as we approach the weekend. Is there something that you want from here? True. [Music] Thank you. Oh, which one is yours? This one’s a caramel. This one’s maple. Cheers. quite comfy. [Music] Completed in 1989, Fukuoka Tower stands as Japan’s tallest seaside tower at 123 m. Tickets cost $5.50 per person, and when we visited, it was surprisingly not crowded. A quick elevator ride to the top revealed a stunning panoramic view of Fukuoka city and the sparkling waters beyond. Here in Fukuoka Tower. Quite the magnificent view. Come on closer. It’s scary. I don’t like the heights. They have a stamp around me and I got all the stamps. Apparently, if you bring it to the store, you get a discount of some kind, but I don’t know the full details. I just like the stamps. I can’t put them in my book, so I have this instead. Nice. What are you hoping for? Um, either the stamp or the acrylic. The stamp is pretty cool. Yeah. Let’s [Music] see what you get. What do you think I got? I think you got I think you got that. Doesn’t feel heavy. Oh, there’s tape. You got the stem. Test it out. Test it out. Oh, you press so hard. Yeah. I didn’t realize it. Wait. Do a light one. Do a light one. There you go. [Music] As the sun sets in Fukuoka. It signals our favorite time of day, dinner time. A quick 30inute train ride takes us back to the downtown area. With some time to spare, we explored the Tenjin Underground Mall. A sprawling network of shops seamlessly connected to the Tenzin subway station. In the underground mall, we found a pharmacy and something caught Ash’s eyes. [Music] [Music] Where are we at today? We are at a Motunabi restaurant named Raku Tenti. It seems like it’s a chain. And so we’re at one that’s kind of close to Hakata Station. One of Fukuoka’s mustry specialties is Mozunab, a bubbling hot pot brimming with beef intestines, loads of crisp garlic chives, and fresh cabbage. As it simmers, the miso based broth transforms the dish into a rich, savory flavored explosion that’s layered with aroma of garlic, chili peppers, and toasted sesame oil. It’s hardy and the epitome of comfort food, especially on a cold day. [Music] [Music] It feels like I’ve had it before. That’s good. Yeah. Spicy. Maybe a little more fish. Uh crawfish. [Music] [Music] Are you sure you haven’t? I haven’t had it where it’s like wet like this. I’ve had a dried version. That is really good. Ah, our mozzab is almost ready and it’s already looking far more appetizing than when it first arrived at the table. I really enjoyed the bold, rich flavors of this dish. That said, since most of the protein comes from the beef intestines, it does get a bit chewy and by the end, our jaws were getting quite tired. One highlight though was adding champan noodles at the end to soak up that flavorful broth. It was the perfect finish. Overall, I’d give Mossunab a solid four out of five. It’s absolutely worth trying when you’re in Fukuoka. As we wind down for the night, we head towards Hakata Station, which is a short 5-minute walk away from the Motunab restaurant, and we were greeted with beautiful winter illuminations. Here we are in Hakata station after our dinner. We’re about to come here to exchange our tickets. Any more information you would like to provide? Well, we forgot that there’s like equivalent to a winter eliminations at the station. So, pleasantly surprised to come to the entrance and just see a huge tree and all these lights pictures around. Quite the spectacular site. We’re now heading back to our hotel to finally check in. It’s what, 9:00 right now? 9:30. 9:30. [Music] Thank you for watching and hope you enjoyed our journey to Fukuoka. Stay tuned as we are visiting Nagasaki next on our Kyushu Island adventures. See you next time.

Amazing Japan Experience – What a Journey!
Just finished watching this incredible Japan vlog and had to share my thoughts! This was such a unique glimpse into Japanese culture and experiences.
The Food Adventures
The noodle soup shop with individual stalls was fascinating – gave me prison cell vibes at first (just kidding!), but I actually loved the cozy, private dining concept. The hot pot experience was completely different from what Iβm used to, and that fish roe looked absolutely incredible – almost like it was marinated in sake or something alcoholic! I was actually surprised to see organ meat featured since I thought that wasnβt common in Japanese cuisine. Really opened my eyes to the diversity of Japanese food culture.
Tech and Interactive Experiences
TeamLab was absolutely mesmerizing – that frog exhibit stole my heart! I love how all the interactive elements responded so naturally without any rehearsal needed. The authentic, beautifully chaotic reactions made everything feel so genuine and immersive. The video display from the tower was mind-blowing too – almost felt like a 4D experience with how realistic it was!
The Atmospheric Moments
Walking through that vending machine alley gave me serious Slap Ham vibes – I swear I saw shadows moving behind the machines and had me looking for ghosts! The light displays at the station were absolutely mesmerizing and created such a cool visual experience throughout.
Minor Complaints
That fast elevator had my stomach doing serious flips – way too intense for my liking!
Overall, this vlog perfectly captured the essence of modern Japan – from traditional food culture to cutting-edge technology and everything in between. The genuine reactions and unscripted moments made it feel like I was right there experiencing it all. Definitely makes me want to plan my own trip to Japan!
I should not watch this in the middle of the night! Iβm hungry. π
Great video! Need to rewatch this when I get to visit Japan.
The motsu nabe had a very nostalgic taste! It reminds me of the nilagang baboi my mom would make β€
