Two Japanese firefighters were killed and others were injured Monday battling a fire in Osaka’s Dotonbori shopping district.

The firefighters, 22 and 55, became trapped while battling the fire on the sixth floor, Japan Today reported. 

Three other firefighters and a civlian were taken to a hospital for treatment. 

The fire spread from the building of origin to the fifth and sixth floors of an adjacent structure. 

The cause remains under investigation.
