JAPAN TRAVEL VLOG – Part 2 ๐| From Dotonbori Lights to Kyoto Calm | Onsen, Street Food & River Walk๐ฃ
Welcome back to our Japan Travel Vlog. ๐ The morning greeted us with a gentle drizzle. Umbrella in hand, we decided to start the day slow. Just a few steps from our hotel…we found this cozy bakery. Rows of golden croissants, fluffy buns, and sweet rolls… It’s impossible to pick just one. From savory sandwiches to delicate pastries…this bakery had endless choices. It took us a while to decide. The total came to 3,949 yen (~ $27 USD) We ordered egg, bacon, and smoked salmon sandwiches.
Everything here is delicious. 9.5/10 ๐๐ป A cozy breakfast and the gentle sound of rain – a perfect start to Day 3. This little stall caught our eye… Freshly made Japanese rice cakes. We couldn’t resist! 9/10 ๐๐ป It’s raining harder and our socks got wet. We then stopped by a convenient store to change into dry socks. Japanese convenient stores have mostly everything you can ask for. Let’s grab a cold bottle of tea. So many choices of instant ramen, from classic flavors to seasonal specials. You can even cook some here. So convenient for a quick meal. In the afternoon, we had an appointment at Solaniwa Onsen. The facility is huge, with everything you could imagine for relaxation and comfort. Umbrella lockers. Welcomed by a quiet, Zen-inspired decor…simple, traditional, and calming. You can pick a style and color of Kimono that fits your mood…adding a touch of tradition to your visit. There’s a full spa, massage rooms, and even specialized treatments for total relaxation. We booked a private bath for our onsen experience. It’s still raining. We stepped outside to check out this garden. There is an area for foot bath….looking out at this beautiful space. Let’s find our room. A code was given to enter the room.
Each session lasts 90 minutes. A cozy, private room….surrounded by beautiful outdoor Japanese decor. A spacious, warm onsen bath…all to ourselves.
A perfect retreat!๐๐ป With the rain pouring outside, we decided to spend some time indoors. We’re getting hungry! This place is famous for their delicious steamed buns. We picked up a few for lunch. 8.5/10 ๐๐ป Heading to Namba. Let’s find a place to eat first. We found a KFC with a comfortable seating area….a cozy spot to enjoy lunch while staying dry from the rain. After lunch, we visited Takashimaya. We shopped a little, exploring unique finds and seasonal selections. As the rain finally stops, the sky grows darker…a calm evening begins. Namba comes alive at night. We noticed a line forming….people waiting for Rikuru’s Cheesecake. Curious, we joined too…eager to try these famous treats. BEST Cheesecake EVER! 10/10 ๐๐ป Bright lights, lively signs, and the gentle hum of the city. A perfect time to wander, soak in the atmosphere, and enjoy the evening stroll. Of course, no trip to Osaka is complete without visiting Dotonbori. Street food, neon lights, and the bustling atmosphere! For dinner, we started at Kamukura…a cozy noodle spot in the heart of Dotonbori. Simple yet deeply satisfying! 8.5/10 ๐๐ป We then stepped back into Dotonbori’s vibrant streets. It is always crowded…a lively hub full of energy day and night. Next, we stopped at Chibo…famous for its delicious okonomiyaki. The smell of freshly cooked okonomiyaki fills the air….inviting and comforting. Watching it being prepared was part of the experience…skillful, precise, and tempting. Finally, a hot, savory okonomiyaki…the perfect meal to enjoy together. 9/10 ๐๐ป More walking…letting the meal settle and enjoying the evening air. We then found a dessert place. The melon bread smelled irresistible.
Inside the bread….lots of creamy matcha ice cream. A perfect combination of flavors and textures. 9.5/10 ๐๐ป The lights, sounds, and movement continue…
Osaka’s heartbeat never stops. Day 4 began….we headed to Kyoto, ready for a new adventure. Kyoto Station is huge….vast, modern, and surprisingly impressive. So many levels, shops, and passageways. Even navigating can be an experience…the scale and design are remarkable. We got to the top of Kyoto Station…curious to see the city from above. The view stretches far and wide…a blend of modern buildings and historic rooftops. A perfect start to our Kyoto adventure….the city unfolds beneath us in all its charm. Heading to our Airbnb. Stepping into our temporary home for the Kyoto stay. A cozy space, well-furnished room….within a peaceful neighborhood. I picked this Airbnb for one special reason….a massage chair to soothe tired legs. After recharging, we walked toward the Kamogawa River…a peaceful Kyoto stroll. Kyoto streets glow warmly…a mix of tradition and city energy. Ichiran Ramen…famous for its rich, comforting ramen Dining at Ichiran is unique….each seat is a private booth for one. You focus on your ramen….the chef prepares it behind a small window, no distractions. The moment it arrives….hot, flavorful, and ready to enjoy. The ramen bowl is a masterpiece…rich, savory broth with perfectly cooked noodles. Each bite and sip….so satisfying!๐คค For dessert, we picked matcha pudding…smooth, creamy, and beautifully vibrant green. Highly recommended! 9.5/10 ๐๐ป 10/10 ๐๐ป After dinner, we wandered around town to end the night. See you in the next video for more Kyoto exploration.๐๐ป
