Global creative icons Pharrell Williams and Nigo have joined forces with avant-garde hospitality brand NOT A HOTEL to unveil Japa Valley Tokyo, a one-hectare cultural complex slated to open in 2027 near Yurakucho Station. This visionary project aims to reinvent urban hospitality in Tokyo, blending art, design, sake culture, retail, and community into a cohesive experience.

Concept & Vision

Inspired by California’s Napa Valley—but reimagined with a distinctly Japanese essence—Japa Valley Tokyo transforms wine country vibes into a sake-focused oasis. The site will host artisanal sake breweries, rotating pop-up boutiques, immersive food and design installations, and architectural pavilions enshrouded in lush greenery.

Architectural renderings depict timber arches, green roofs, and expansive glazing, crafting a serene yet dynamic environment deeply rooted in nature and culture.

Creative Direction

Pharrell and Nigo bring not just star power but global creative credibility—both serving as creative advisors and investors in NOT A HOTEL. Their collaboration continues a trajectory that began in fashion and music, now channeling their multidisciplinary vision into hospitality and urban design. Their involvement signals a bold move toward merging cultural storytelling with everyday experiences in the city.

Art, Events, and Experiential Retail

At the heart of the complex will stand a monumental KAWS “COMPANION” sculpture—echoing earlier collaborations between the artist and NOT A HOTEL. Expect the immersive environment to feature rotating installations by artists, chefs, designers, and more, making each visit unique.

Location

Japa Valley Tokyo will replace a former site of the Shin‑Yurakucho Building, integrating into the broader redevelopment of Yurakucho Park by Mitsubishi Estate. The project aligns with an urban refresh, aiming to attract locals and cultural tourists alike. Launching in 2027, the space is envisioned as a temporary yet transformative urban intervention, offering a curated slice of cultural engagement in the heart of the city.
