Add Mt Fuji to your Tokyo itinerary👇🏼#japantravel #traveljapan #visitjapan #mountfuji #japantips
Did you know you can see Mount Fuji on a day trip from Tokyo without a tour? Here’s exactly how we did it so you can too. Start by catching the bus from Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal Level 4. Booked your ticket online at least a few days ahead to lock in an early bus. The ride takes around 2 hours and if you’re lucky like us, you’ll see Mount Fuji views right from your seat. Pop off at this bus stop at the town of Shimoshida. Walk through the town to Hono Street for this iconic Mount Fuji street view. or we highly recommend skipping the crowds and heading to a parallel street for an epic photo spot with no one else around. Next, take a short walk to the famous Chorito Picod. Keep an eye out for these stunning tiled paths on the way and these signs for wild bears. Yes, the stairs are a bit of a workout, but the view is totally worth it. On your way down, treat yourself like we did to an ice cream or a Lawson snack. Now, take a 15-minute local train to Kawagucho. Wander through the town. Check out this famous Lawson’s convenience store with an epic Mount Fuji backdrop. From there, make your way to Mount Fiji Panoramic Roadway for epic views, or continue your walk like we did to the far side of Lake Kawaguchi for a peaceful, crowd-free sunset. It’s about a 35-minute walk, but trust us, it’s the perfect way to end your day. Finally, head back to Kawaguchi Go Station, grab some dinner or snacks, and catch the bus back to Tokyo. Don’t forget to save this for your Japan trip and follow us for more Japan for first timers travel tips.
Although we would highly recommend spending a few days here to try get the best weather, we did this exact day trip and it was perfect!
